1 A sí que, amados, puesto que tenemos tales promesas, limpiémonos de toda contaminación de carne y de espíritu, perfeccionando la santidad en el temor de Dios. Regocijo de Pablo al arrepentirse los corintios

Having therefore these promises, beloved, let us purify ourselves from every pollution of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in God's fear.

2 A dmitidnos: a nadie hemos agraviado, a nadie hemos corrompido, a nadie hemos engañado.

Receive us: we have injured no one, we have ruined no one, we have made gain of no one.

3 N o lo digo para condenaros; pues ya he dicho antes que estáis en nuestro corazón, para morir y para vivir juntamente.

I do not speak for condemnation, for I have already said that ye are in our hearts, to die together, and live together.

4 M ucha franqueza tengo con vosotros; mucho me glorío con respecto de vosotros; lleno estoy de consolación; sobreabundo de gozo en todas nuestras tribulaciones.

Great my boldness towards you, great my exulting in respect of you; I am filled with encouragement; I overabound in joy under all our affliction.

5 P orque de cierto, cuando vinimos a Macedonia, ningún reposo tuvo nuestro cuerpo, sino que en todo fuimos atribulados; de fuera, conflictos; de dentro, temores.

For indeed, when we came into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but afflicted in every way; without combats, within fears.

6 P ero Dios, que consuela a los humildes, nos consoló con la venida de Tito;

But he who encourages those that are low, God, encouraged us by the coming of Titus;

7 y no sólo con su venida, sino también con la consolación con que él había sido consolado en cuanto a vosotros, haciéndonos saber vuestro gran afecto, vuestro llanto, vuestra solicitud por mí, de manera que me regocijé aun más.

and not by his coming only, but also through the encouragement with which he was encouraged as to you; relating to us your ardent desire, your mourning, your zeal for me; so that I the more rejoiced.

8 P orque aunque os contristé con la carta, no me pesa, aunque entonces lo lamenté; porque veo que aquella carta, aunque por algún tiempo, os contristó.

For if also I grieved you in the letter, I do not regret, if even I have regretted it; for I see that that letter, if even only for a time, grieved you.

9 A hora me gozo, no porque hayáis sido contristados, sino porque fuisteis contristados para arrepentimiento; porque habéis sido contristados según Dios, para que ninguna pérdida padecieseis por nuestra parte.

Now I rejoice, not that ye have been grieved, but that ye have been grieved to repentance; for ye have been grieved according to God, that in nothing ye might be injured by us.

10 P orque la tristeza que es según Dios produce arrepentimiento para salvación, de que no hay que arrepentirse; pero la tristeza del mundo produce muerte.

For grief according to God works repentance to salvation, never to be regretted; but the grief of the world works death.

11 P orque he aquí, esto mismo de que hayáis sido contristados según Dios,!! qué solicitud produjo en vosotros, qué defensa, qué indignación, qué temor, qué ardiente afecto, qué celo, y qué vindicación! En todo os habéis mostrado limpios en el asunto.

For, behold, this same thing, your being grieved according to God, how much diligence it wrought in you, but excusing, but indignation, but fear, but ardent desire, but zeal, but vengeance: in every way ye have proved yourselves to be pure in the matter.

12 A sí que, aunque os escribí, no fue por causa del que cometió el agravio, ni por causa del que lo padeció, sino para que se os hiciese manifiesta nuestra solicitud que tenemos por vosotros delante de Dios.

So then, if also I wrote to you, not for the sake of him that injured, nor for the sake of him that was injured, but for the sake of our diligent zeal for you being manifested to you before God.

13 P or esto hemos sido consolados en vuestra consolación; pero mucho más nos gozamos por el gozo de Tito, que haya sido confortado su espíritu por todos vosotros.

For this reason we have been encouraged. And we the rather rejoiced in our encouragement more abundantly by reason of the joy of Titus, because his spirit has been refreshed by you all.

14 P ues si de algo me he gloriado con él respecto de vosotros, no he sido avergonzado, sino que así como en todo os hemos hablado con verdad, también nuestro gloriarnos con Tito resultó verdad.

Because if I boasted to him anything about you, I have not been put to shame; but as we have spoken to you all things in truth, so also our boasting to Titus has been truth;

15 Y su cariño para con vosotros es aun más abundante, cuando se acuerda de la obediencia de todos vosotros, de cómo lo recibisteis con temor y temblor.

and his affections are more abundantly towards you, calling to mind the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling ye received him.

16 M e gozo de que en todo tengo confianza en vosotros.

I rejoice that in everything I am confident as to you.
