1 L uego volvimos y salimos al desierto, camino del Mar Rojo, como Jehová me había dicho; y rodeamos el monte de Seir por mucho tiempo.

And we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as Jehovah had said unto me; and we went round mount Seir many days.

2 Y Jehová me habló, diciendo:

And Jehovah spoke to me, saying,

3 B astante habéis rodeado este monte; volveos al norte.

Ye have gone round this mountain long enough: turn you northward.

4 Y manda al pueblo, diciendo: Pasando vosotros por el territorio de vuestros hermanos los hijos de Esaú, que habitan en Seir, ellos tendrán miedo de vosotros; mas vosotros guardaos mucho.

And command the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the border of your brethren the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir; and they will be afraid of you; and ye shall be very guarded:

5 N o os metáis con ellos, porque no os daré de su tierra ni aun lo que cubre la planta de un pie; porque yo he dado por heredad a Esaú el monte de Seir.

attack them not; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot-breadth; for I have given mount Seir as a possession unto Esau.

6 C ompraréis de ellos por dinero los alimentos, y comeréis; y también compraréis de ellos el agua, y beberéis;

Ye shall buy of them food for money, that ye may eat; and water shall ye also buy of them for money, that ye may drink;

7 p ues Jehová tu Dios te ha bendecido en toda obra de tus manos; él sabe que andas por este gran desierto; estos cuarenta años Jehová tu Dios ha estado contigo, y nada te ha faltado.

for Jehovah thy God hath blessed thee in all the work of thy hand. He hath known thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years hath Jehovah thy God been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.

8 Y nos alejamos del territorio de nuestros hermanos los hijos de Esaú, que habitaban en Seir, por el camino del Arabá desde Elat y Ezión-geber; y volvimos, y tomamos el camino del desierto de Moab.

And we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, who dwelt in Seir, by the plain, by Elath, and by Ezion-geber, and we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.

9 Y Jehová me dijo: No molestes a Moab, ni te empeñes con ellos en guerra, porque no te daré posesión de su tierra; porque yo he dado a Ar por heredad a los hijos de Lot.

And Jehovah said to me, Distress not the Moabites, neither engage with them in battle; for I will not give thee of their land a possession; for unto the children of Lot have I given Ar as a possession.

10 ( Los emitas habitaron en ella antes, pueblo grande y numeroso, y alto como los hijos de Anac.

(The Emim dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall as the Anakim.

11 P or gigantes eran ellos tenidos también, como los hijos de Anac; y los moabitas los llaman emitas.

They also are reckoned as giants like the Anakim; but the Moabites call them Emim.

12 Y en Seir habitaron antes los horeos, a los cuales echaron los hijos de Esaú; y los arrojaron de su presencia, y habitaron en lugar de ellos, como hizo Israel en la tierra que les dio Jehová por posesión.)

And in Seir dwelt the Horites in times past; and the children of Esau dispossessed them, and destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel did to the land of their possession, which Jehovah gave to them.)

13 L evantaos ahora, y pasad el arroyo de Zered. Y pasamos el arroyo de Zered.

Now rise up, and pass over the torrent Zered. And we passed over the torrent Zered.

14 Y los días que anduvimos de Cades-barnea hasta cuando pasamos el arroyo de Zered fueron treinta y ocho años; hasta que se acabó toda la generación de los hombres de guerra de en medio del campamento, como Jehová les había jurado.

Now the days in which we came from Kadesh-barnea, until we had come over the torrent Zered, were thirty-eight years; until the whole generation of the men of war was consumed from the midst of the camp, as Jehovah had sworn unto them.

15 Y también la mano de Jehová vino sobre ellos para destruirlos de en medio del campamento, hasta acabarlos.

Moreover the hand of Jehovah was against them to destroy them from the midst of the camp, until they were consumed.

16 Y aconteció que después que murieron todos los hombres de guerra de entre el pueblo,

And it came to pass when all the men of war were consumed, having died off from among the people,

17 J ehová me habló, diciendo:

that Jehovah spoke to me, saying,

18 T ú pasarás hoy el territorio de Moab, a Ar.

Thou art to pass this day over the border of Moab, Ar,

19 Y cuando te acerques a los hijos de Amón, no los molestes, ni contiendas con ellos; porque no te daré posesión de la tierra de los hijos de Amón, pues a los hijos de Lot la he dado por heredad.

and come near over against the children of Ammon; thou shalt not distress them nor attack them; for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon a possession; for unto the children of Lot have I given it as a possession.

20 ( Por tierra de gigantes fue también ella tenida; habitaron en ella gigantes en otro tiempo, a los cuales los amonitas llamaban zomzomeos;

(That also is reckoned a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in time past, and the Ammonites call them Zamzummim;

21 p ueblo grande y numeroso, y alto, como los hijos de Anac; a los cuales Jehová destruyó delante de los amonitas. Estos sucedieron a aquéllos, y habitaron en su lugar,

a people great, and many, and tall as the Anakim; and Jehovah destroyed them before them, and they dispossessed them, and dwelt in their stead;

22 c omo hizo Jehová con los hijos de Esaú que habitaban en Seir, delante de los cuales destruyó a los horeos; y ellos sucedieron a éstos, y habitaron en su lugar hasta hoy.

as he did to the children of Esau, who dwelt in Seir, from before whom he destroyed the Horites; and they dispossessed them, and dwelt in their stead, even to this day.

23 Y a los aveos que habitaban en aldeas hasta Gaza, los caftoreos que salieron de Caftor los destruyeron, y habitaron en su lugar.)

And the Avvites who dwelt in the hamlets as far as Gazah—the Caphtorim, who came out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)

24 L evantaos, salid, y pasad el arroyo de Arnón; he aquí he entregado en tu mano a Sehón rey de Hesbón, amorreo, y a su tierra; comienza a tomar posesión de ella, y entra en guerra con él.

Rise up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon. Behold, I have given into thy hand Sihon the king of Heshbon, the Amorite, and his land: begin, take possession, and engage with him in battle.

25 H oy comenzaré a poner tu temor y tu espanto sobre los pueblos debajo de todo el cielo, los cuales oirán tu fama, y temblarán y se angustiarán delante de ti. Israel derrota a Sehón (Nm. 21. 21-30)

This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the peoples under the whole heaven; who will hear report of thee, and will tremble, and quake because of thee.

26 Y envié mensajeros desde el desierto de Cademot a Sehón rey de Hesbón con palabras de paz, diciendo:

And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon the king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,

27 P asaré por tu tierra por el camino; por el camino iré, sin apartarme ni a diestra ni a siniestra.

Let me pass through thy land: by the highway alone will I go; I will neither turn to the right hand nor to the left.

28 L a comida me venderás por dinero, y comeré; el agua también me darás por dinero, y beberé; solamente pasaré a pie,

Thou shalt sell me food for money that I may eat; and thou shalt give me water for money that I may drink; I will only pass through on my feet,

29 c omo lo hicieron conmigo los hijos de Esaú que habitaban en Seir, y los moabitas que habitaban en Ar; hasta que cruce el Jordán a la tierra que nos da Jehová nuestro Dios.

—as the children of Esau who dwell in Seir, and the Moabites who dwell in Ar, did to me,—until I shall pass over the Jordan into the land which Jehovah our God giveth us.

30 M as Sehón rey de Hesbón no quiso que pasásemos por el territorio suyo; porque Jehová tu Dios había endurecido su espíritu, y obstinado su corazón para entregarlo en tu mano, como hasta hoy.

But Sihon the king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him; for Jehovah thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obdurate, that he might give him into thy hand, as it is this day.

31 Y me dijo Jehová: He aquí yo he comenzado a entregar delante de ti a Sehón y a su tierra; comienza a tomar posesión de ella para que la heredes.

And Jehovah said to me, Behold, I begin to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin, take possession, that thou mayest possess his land.

32 Y nos salió Sehón al encuentro, él y todo su pueblo, para pelear en Jahaza.

And Sihon came out against us for battle, he and all his people, to Jahaz.

33 M as Jehová nuestro Dios lo entregó delante de nosotros; y lo derrotamos a él y a sus hijos, y a todo su pueblo.

But Jehovah our God gave him up before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and his whole people.

34 T omamos entonces todas sus ciudades, y destruimos todas las ciudades, hombres, mujeres y niños; no dejamos ninguno.

And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed every city, men, and women, and little ones: we let none escape.

35 S olamente tomamos para nosotros los ganados, y los despojos de las ciudades que habíamos tomado.

Only the cattle we took as booty for ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took.

36 D esde Aroer, que está junto a la ribera del arroyo de Arnón, y la ciudad que está en el valle, hasta Galaad, no hubo ciudad que escapase de nosotros; todas las entregó Jehová nuestro Dios en nuestro poder.

From Aroer, which is on the bank of the river Arnon, and the city that is in the ravine even to Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us: Jehovah our God delivered all before us.

37 S olamente a la tierra de los hijos de Amón no llegamos; ni a todo lo que está a la orilla del arroyo de Jaboc ni a las ciudades del monte, ni a lugar alguno que Jehová nuestro Dios había prohibido.

Only thou didst not approach the land of the children of Ammon, the whole border of the river Jabbok, nor the cities of the mountain, nor to whatsoever Jehovah our God had forbidden us.
