1 С лухай, небо, а я говоритиму, і хай почує земля мову уст моїх!

Give ear, ye heavens, and I will speak; And hear, O earth, the words of my mouth!

2 Н ехай ллється наука моя, мов той дощ, хай тече, як роса, моя мова, як краплі дощу на траву, та як злива на зелень.

My doctrine shall drop as rain, My speech flow down as dew, As small rain upon the tender herb, And as showers on the grass.

3 Я к буду я кликати Ймення Господнє, то славу віддайте ви нашому Богові!

For the name of Jehovah will I proclaim: Ascribe greatness unto our God!

4 В ін Скеля, а діло Його досконале, всі бо дороги Його справедливі, Бог вірний, і кривди немає в Ньому, справедливий і праведний Він.

the Rock, his work is perfect, For all his ways are righteousness; A God of faithfulness without deceit, Just and right is he.

5 З іпсулись вони, не Його то сини, покоління невірне й покручене.

They have dealt corruptly with him; Not his children's is their spot:—A crooked and perverted generation!

6 Ч и тим віддасте Господеві, народе нікчемний й немудрий? Чи ж не Він Батько твій, твій Творець? Він тебе вчинив, і Він міцно поставив тебе.

Do ye thus requite Jehovah, Foolish and unwise people? Is not he thy father that hath bought thee? Hath he not made thee and established thee?

7 П ам'ятай про дні давні, розважайте про роки усіх поколінь, запитай свого батька, і покаже тобі твоїх тих старших, а вони тобі скажуть.

Remember the days of old, Consider the years of generation to generation; Ask thy father, and he will shew thee; Thine elders, and they will tell thee.

8 Я к Всевишній народам спадок давав, коли Він розділяв синів людських, Він поставив границі народам за числом Ізраїлевих синів.

When the Most High assigned to the nations their inheritance, When he separated the sons of Adam, He set the bounds of the peoples According to the number of the children of Israel.

9 Б о частка Господня народ Його, Яків відміряний уділ спадщини Його.

For Jehovah's portion is his people; Jacob the lot of his inheritance.

10 З найшов Він його на пустинній землі та в степу завивання пустельних гієн, та й його оточив, уважав Він за ним, зберігав Він його, як зіницю оту свого ока.

He found him in a desert land, And in the waste, howling wilderness; He compassed him about, he watched over him, He preserved him as the apple of his eye.

11 Я к гніздо своє будить орел, як ширяє він понад своїми малятами, крила свої простягає, бере їх, та носить їх він на рамені крилатім своїм,

As the eagle stirreth up its nest, Hovereth over its young, Spreadeth out its wings, Taketh them, beareth them on its feathers,

12 т ак Господь Сам провадив його, а бога чужого при нім не було.

So Jehovah alone did lead him, And no strange god with him.

13 В ін його садовив на висотах землі, і він їв польові врожаї, Він медом із скелі його годував, і оливою з скельного кременя,

He made him ride on the high places of the earth, And he ate the produce of the field; And he made him suck honey out of the crag, And oil out of the flinty rock;

14 м аслом з худоби великої та молоком від худоби дрібної, разом із лоєм ягнят та баранів з Башану й козлів, разом з такою пшеницею, як лій на нирках, і кров виноградної ягоди пив ти вином.

Cream of kine, and milk of sheep, With the fat of lambs, And rams of the breed of Bashan, and he-goats, With the fat of kidneys of wheat; And thou didst drink pure wine, the blood of the grape.

15 І потовстів Єшурун та й брикатися став. І ти потовстів, погрубів, став гладкий. І покинув він Бога, що його створив, і Скелю спасіння свого злегковажив.

Then Jeshurun grew fat, and kicked—Thou art waxen fat, Thou art grown thick, And thou art covered with fatness;—He gave up +God who made him, And lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.

16 Ч ужими богами Його роздражнили, Його розгнівили своїми гидотами.

They moved him to jealousy with strange gods, With abominations did they provoke him to anger.

17 В они демонам жертви складали, не Богу, складали богам, що не відали їх, новим, що недавно прийшли, не лякалися їх батьки ваші!

They sacrificed unto demons who are not +God; To gods whom they knew not, To new ones, who came newly up, Whom your fathers revered not.

18 З абуваєш ти Скелю, Яка породила тебе, і забуваєш ти Бога, що тебе народив.

Of the Rock that begot thee wast thou unmindful, And thou hast forgotten God who brought thee forth.

19 І побачив Господь, та й зненавидів їх, через гнів на синів Своїх і на дочок Своїх,

And Jehovah saw it, and despised them, Because of the provoking of his sons and of his daughters.

20 т а й сказав: Лице Я Своє заховаю від них, побачу, який їх кінець, бо вони покоління розбещене, діти, що в них нема віри.

And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be; For they are a perverse generation, Children in whom is no faithfulness.

21 Р оздражнили Мене вони тим, хто не Бог, Мене розгнівили своїми марнотами, тому роздражню Я їх тим, хто не народ, нерозумним народом розгніваю їх.

They have moved me to jealousy with that which is no God; They have exasperated me with their vanities; And I will move them to jealousy with that which is not a people; With a foolish nation will I provoke them to anger.

22 Б о був загорівся огонь Мого гніву, і палився він аж до шеолу найглибшого, і він землю поїв та її врожай, і спалив був підвалини гір.

For a fire is kindled in mine anger, And it shall burn into the lowest Sheol, And shall consume the earth and its produce, And set fire to the foundations of the mountains.

23 Я на них нагромаджу нещастя, зуживу Свої стріли на них.

I will heap mischiefs upon them; Mine arrows will I spend against them.

24 Б удуть виснажені вони голодом, і поїджені будуть огнем та заразою лютою, і зуба звірини нашлю Я на них, з отрутою плазунів по землі.

They shall be consumed with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, And with poisonous pestilence; And the teeth of beasts will I send against them, With the poison of what crawleth in the dust.

25 Н адворі забиватиме меч, а в кімнатах страхіття, як юнака, так і дівчину, грудне немовля з чоловіком посивілим.

From without shall the sword bereave them, and in the chambers, terror—Both the young man and the virgin, The suckling with the man of gray hairs.

26 Я сказав: Повигублюю їх, відірву від людей їхню пам'ять,

I would say, I will scatter, I will make the remembrance of them to cease from among men,

27 т а це Я відклав з-за ворожого гніву, щоб противники їх не згордилися, щоб вони не сказали: Піднеслася наша рука, і не Господь учинив усе це.

If I did not fear provocation from the enemy, Lest their adversaries should misunderstand it, Lest they should say, Our hand is high, and Jehovah has not done all this.

28 Б о вони люд безрадний, і нема в них розумування.

For they are a nation void of counsel, And understanding is not in them.

29 К оли б були мудрі вони, зрозуміли б оце, розсудили б були про кінець свій.

Oh that they had been wise! they would have understood this, They would have considered their latter end!

30 Я к може один гнати тисячу, а два проганять десять тисяч, коли то не те, що їх продала їхня Скеля, і Господь видав їх?

How could one chase a thousand, And two put ten thousand to flight, Were it not that their Rock had sold them, And Jehovah had delivered them up?

31 Н е така бо їх скеля, як наша та Скеля, хай судять самі вороги.

For their rock is not as our Rock: Let our enemies themselves be judges.

32 Б о їх виноград з винограду содомського та з піль тих гоморських, винні ягоди їхні отруйні то ягоди, вони грона гіркоти для них,

For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, And of the fields of Gomorrah: Their grapes are grapes of poison, Bitter are their clusters;

33 в ино їхнє зміїна отрута і гадюча погибельна їдь!

Their wine is the poison of dragons, And the cruel venom of vipers.

34 Ч и замкнене в Мене не це, у скарбницях Моїх запечатане?

Is not this hidden with me, Sealed up among my treasures?

35 М оя пімста й відплата на час, коли їхня нога посковзнеться, бо близький день погибелі їх, поспішає майбутнє для них.

Vengeance is mine, and recompense, For the time when their foot shall slip. For the day of their calamity is at hand, And the things that shall come upon them make haste.

36 Б о розсудить Господь Свій народ, і змилосердиться Він над Своїми рабами, як побачить, що їхня рука ослабіла, і нема ні невільного, ані вільного.

For Jehovah will judge his people, And shall repent in favour of his servants; When he seeth that power is gone, And there is none shut up or left.

37 І Він скаже тоді: Де їх боги, де скеля, що в ній поховались вони,

And he shall say, Where are their gods, Their rock in whom they trusted,

38 щ о їли вони лій кривавих їх жертов, пили вино жертов їх литих? Нехай встануть і вам допоможуть, і хай будуть покровом для вас.

Who ate the fat of their sacrifices, drank the wine of their drink-offering? Let them rise up and help you, That there may be a protection over you.

39 П обачте тепер, що Я Я є Той, і Бога немає крім Мене. Побиваю й оживлюю Я, і не врятує ніхто від Моєї руки.

See now that I, I am HE, And there is no god with me; I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal, And there is none that delivereth out of my hand,

40 Б о до неба підношу Я руку Свою та й кажу: Я навіки Живий!

For I lift up my hand to the heavens, and say, I live for ever!

41 П оправді кажу вам: Я вістря Свого меча нагострю, і рука Моя схопиться суду, тоді відімщу Я Своїм ворогам, і Своїм ненависникам Я відплачу.

If I have sharpened my gleaming sword, And my hand take hold of judgment, I will render vengeance to mine adversaries, And will recompense them that hate me.

42 Я стріли Свої понапоюю кров'ю, а Мій меч поїдатиме м'ясо, кров'ю забитого й бранця, головами кучматими ворога.

Mine arrows will I make drunk with blood, And my sword shall devour flesh; with the blood of the slain and of the captives, With the head of the princes of the enemy.

43 Р адійте, погани, з народом Його, бо Він відімститься за кров Своїх всіх рабів, і пімсту поверне Своїм ворогам, і викупить землю Свою, Свій народ.

Shout for joy, ye nations, with his people, For he avengeth the blood of his servants, And rendereth vengeance to his enemies, And maketh atonement for his land, for his people.

44 І прийшов Мойсей, і промовляв всі слова цієї пісні до ушей народу, він та Ісус, син Навинів.

And Moses came and spoke all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he and Hoshea the son of Nun.

45 А коли Мойсей скінчив промовляти всі ці слова до всього Ізраїля,

And when Moses had ended speaking all these words to all Israel,

46 т о сказав він до них: Приложіть свої серця до всіх тих слів, які я сьогодні чинив свідками проти вас, що ви накажете їх своїм синам, щоб додержували виконувати всі слова цього Закону.

he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words that I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to take heed to do, all the words of this law.

47 Б о це для вас не слово порожнє, воно життя ваше, і цим словом ви продовжите дні на цій землі, куди ви переходите Йордан, щоб посісти її.

For it is no vain word for you, but it is your life, and through this word ye shall prolong your days on the land whereunto ye pass over the Jordan to possess it.

48 І Господь промовляв до Мойсея того самого дня, говорячи:

And Jehovah spoke to Moses that same day, saying,

49 В ийди на ту гору Аварім, на гору Нево, що в моавському краї, що навпроти Єрихону, і побач ханаанський Край, що Я даю Ізраїлевим синам на володіння.

Go up into this mountain Abarim, mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, which is opposite Jericho; and behold the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel for a possession,

50 І вмри на горі, куди ти вийдеш, і долучися до своєї рідні, як помер був твій брат Аарон на Гор-горі, і долучився до своєї рідні,

and die on the mountain whither thou goest up, and be gathered unto thy peoples, as Aaron thy brother died on mount Hor, and was gathered unto his peoples;

51 з а те, що ви спроневірилися були Мені серед Ізраїлевих синів при воді Меріви в Кадешу на пустині Цін, за те, що ви не освятили Мене серед Ізраїлевих синів.

because ye trespassed against me among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah-Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin; because ye hallowed me not in the midst of the children of Israel.

52 Б о знавпроти побачиш ти той Край, та не ввійдеш туди, до того Краю, що Я даю Ізраїлевим синам.

For thou shalt see the land before; but thou shalt not go thither unto the land which I give the children of Israel.
