1 І сталося, як Соломон покінчив будувати храм Господній та дім царський, та все, що було бажанням Соломона, що прагнув він зробити,

And it came to pass when Solomon had completed the building of the house of Jehovah, and the king's house, and all Solomon's desire which he was pleased to do,

2 т о Господь явився Соломонові другий раз, як явився йому в Ґів'оні.

that Jehovah appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared to him at Gibeon.

3 І сказав Господь до нього: Вислухав Я молитви твої та благання твої, якими благав ти перед лицем Моїм, Я освятив той храм, що ти збудував, щоб покласти Ім'я Моє там аж навіки. І будуть там Мої очі та серце Моє по всі дні.

And Jehovah said to him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication which thou hast made before me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.

4 А ти, якщо будеш ходити перед лицем Моїм, як ходив був батько твій Давид, у чистості серця та в правоті, щоб зробити все, що наказав Я тобі, якщо будеш дотримуватися уставів Моїх та постанов Моїх,

And thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, wilt keep my statutes and mine ordinances;

5 т о трона царства твого над Ізраїлем Я поставлю навіки, як Я говорив був батькові твоєму Давидові, кажучи: Не буде переводу нікому з нащадків твоїх на Ізраїлевім троні.

then will I establish the throne of thy kingdom over Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel.

6 Я кщо ж справді відвернетеся ви та ваші сини від Мене, і не будете дотримувати заповідей Моїх та уставів Моїх, що Я дав вам, і підете, і будете служити іншим богам, і буде те вклонятися їм,

if ye shall at all turn from following me, ye or your children, and will not keep my commandments, my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them;

7 т о Я винищу Ізраїля з поверхні землі, яку дав їм, а цей храм, що Я освятив для Ймення Свого, відкину від лиця Свого. І стане Ізраїль за приповістку та за посміховище серед усіх народів!

then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and the house, which I have hallowed to my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a by word among all peoples;

8 І храм цей найвищий, кожен, хто проходитиме біля нього, скам'яніє та свисне від здивування. І скажуть: За що Господь зробив так цьому Краєві та храмові цьому?...

and this house, is high, every one that passes by it shall be astonished at, and shall hiss, and they shall say, Why has Jehovah done thus to this land and to this house?

9 І відкажуть: За те, що вони покинули Господа, Бога свого, Який вивів їхніх батьків з єгипетського краю, і держалися міцно інших богів, і вклонялися їм, і служили їм, тому Господь навів на них усе оце лихо!

And they shall say, Because they forsook Jehovah their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have attached themselves to other gods, and have worshipped them and served them; therefore has Jehovah brought upon them all this evil.

10 І сталося по двадцяти роках, коли Соломон збудував ті два доми, храм Господній та дім царський,

And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, when Solomon had built the two houses, the house of Jehovah and the king's house,

11 а Хірам, цар тирський, достачав Соломонові кедрові дерева й дерева кипарисові, та золото на кожне бажання його, тоді цар Соломон дав Хірамові двадцять міст у краї Ґаліл.

Hiram the king of Tyre having furnished Solomon with cedar-trees and cypress-trees, and with gold, according to all his desire,—that then king Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.

12 І вийшов Хірам із Тиру, щоб побачити ті міста, які дав йому Соломон, і не вподобались йому вони.

And Hiram came out from Tyre to see the cities that Solomon had given him; and they did not please him.

13 І він сказав: Що це за міста, які ти дав мені, мій брате? І він назвав ім'я їм: Край Кавулу, і так вони звуться аж до цього дня.

And he said, What cities are these which thou hast given me, my brother? And he called them the land of Cabul to this day.

14 І послав Хірам цареві сто й двадцять талантів золота.

And Hiram had sent to the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold.

15 А оце наказ тих поборів, які брав цар Соломон на збудування храму Господнього та дому свого, і Мілло, і муру єрусалимського, і Хацору, і Меґіддо, і Ґезеру.

And this is the account of the levy which king Solomon raised, to build the house of Jehovah, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.

16 Ф араон, єгипетський цар, прийшов і здобув Ґезер, та й спалив його огнем, а ханаанеянина, що сидів у місті, убив, і віддав його як віно для своєї дочки, Соломонової жінки.

—Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up and taken Gezer, and burned it with fire, and slain the Canaanites that dwelt in the city, and given it as a dowry to his daughter, Solomon's wife.

17 І вибудував Соломон Ґезера, і Бет-Горона Долішнього,

—And Solomon built Gezer, and lower Beth-horon,

18 і Баалата, і Тамара в пустині того краю,

and Baalath, and Tadmor in the wilderness, in the land,

19 і всі міста на запаси, що були Соломонові, і міста на колесниці, і міста на верхівців, і інші бажання Соломонові, що бажав збудувати в Єрусалимі та на Ливані, та в усьому Краї панування його.

and all the store-cities that Solomon had, and cities for chariots, and cities for the horsemen, and that which Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, and on Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.

20 У весь народ, що позостався з амореян, хіттеян та періззеян, хіввеян та євусеян, що вони не з Ізраїлевих синів,

All the people that were left of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not of the children of Israel,

21 ї хні сини, що були позоставлені по них у Краю, яких Ізраїлеві сини не могли вигубити, то взяв їх Соломон за поборових працівників, і так є аж до цього дня.

their children that were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel were not able utterly to destroy, upon them did Solomon impose a tribute of bondservice until this day.

22 А з Ізраїлевих синів Соломон не дав раба, бо вони вояки, і його раби, і провідники його, і старші над трьома, і провідники над його колесницями та його верхівці.

But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no bondmen; but they were men of war, and his servants, and his chiefs, and his captains, and captains of his chariots, and his horsemen.

23 О це приставлені провідники, що були над Соломоновою роботою, п'ятдесят і п'ять сотень, що правили народом, який робив на праці.

These were the chief superintendents that were over Solomon's work, five hundred and fifty, that ruled over the people that wrought in the work.

24 Т ільки фараонова дочка вийшла з Давидового Міста до свого дому, якого збудував їй; тоді збудував він Мілло.

But Pharaoh's daughter came up out of the city of David to her house which he had built for her: then he built Millo.

25 І приносив Соломон три рази річно цілопалення та мирні жертви на жертівнику, що збудував Господеві, і кадив на тому, що перед Господнім лицем. І викінчив він той дім.

And three times in the year did Solomon offer up burnt-offerings and peace-offerings upon the altar that he had built to Jehovah, and he burned incense upon that which was before Jehovah. So he finished the house.

26 І цар Соломон наробив кораблів в Ецйон-Ґевері, що при Елоті на березі Червоного моря в едомському краї.

And king Solomon made a fleet of ships in Ezion-Geber, which is beside Eloth, on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom.

27 І послав Хірам кораблями своїх рабів, моряків, що знають море, з рабами Соломоновими.

And Hiram sent in the fleet his servants, shipmen that had knowledge of the sea, with the servants of Solomon;

28 І прийшли вони до Офіру, і взяли звідти чотири сотні й двадцять талантів золота, та й привезли до царя Соломона.

and they went to Ophir, and fetched thence gold, four hundred and twenty talents, and brought it to king Solomon.
