1 С лово, що було до Єремії про ввесь народ Юдин за четвертого року Єгоякима, сина Йосіїного, царя Юдиного це перший рік Навуходоносора, царя вавилонського,

The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, the king of Judah (that is, the first year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon),

2 щ о його сказав пророк Єремія про ввесь Юдин народ та до всіх мешканців Єрусалиму, говорячи:

which Jeremiah the prophet spoke unto all the people of Judah and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying:

3 В ід тринадцятого року Йосії, Амонового сина, царя Юдиного, і аж до цього дня, це вже двадцять і три роки, було слово Господнє до мене. І говорив я до вас, говорячи пильно, та не слухали ви.

From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, the king of Judah, even unto this day, these three and twenty years, the word of Jehovah hath come unto me, and I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye have not hearkened.

4 І посилав Господь до вас усіх Своїх рабів пророків, рано та пізно, та не слухали ви, і не нахилили свого уха, щоб послухати.

And Jehovah hath sent unto you all his servants the prophets, rising early and sending; but ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear,

5 А вони говорили: Верніться кожен зо своєї злої дороги та зо зла ваших учинків, і сидіть на тій землі, яку Господь дав вам та вашим батькам відвіку й аж навіки.

when they said, Turn again now every one from his evil way, and from the wickedness of your doings, and dwell in the land that Jehovah hath given unto you and to your fathers from of old even for ever.

6 І не ходіть за іншими богами, щоб служити їм та щоб вклонятися їм, і не гнівіть Мене роботою ваших рук, і Я не вчиню вам лихого.

And go not after other gods, to serve them and to worship them; and provoke me not to anger with the work of your hands; and I will do you no hurt.

7 Т а ви не прислухалися до Мене, говорить Господь, щоб не гнівити Мене чином рук своїх, на зло собі.

But ye have not hearkened unto me, saith Jehovah; that ye might provoke me to anger with the work of your hands, to your own hurt.

8 Т ому так промовляє Господь Саваот: За те, що ви не слухалися слів Моїх,

Therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Because ye have not listened to my words,

9 о сь Я пошлю й позбираю всі північні роди, говорить Господь, пошлю до Навуходоносора, царя вавилонського, Мого раба, і наведу їх на Край цей, і на мешканців його та на всіх цих народів навколо, і вчиню їх закляттям, і оберну їх на страхіття, і на посміховище, і на вічні руїни.

behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith Jehovah, and to Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about; and I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual wastes.

10 І Я вигублю в них голос радісний та голос веселий, голос молодого та голос молодої, гуркіт жорен та світло світильника...

And I will cause to perish from them the voice of mirth and the voice of joy, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones and the light of the lamp.

11 І стане цей край руїною, спустошенням, а ці народи будуть служити вавилонському цареві сімдесят літ!

And this whole land shall become a waste, an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

12 І станеться, як сповниться сімдесят літ, покараю Я вавилонського царя та цей люд, говорить Господь, за їхню провину, та халдейський край, й оберну його на вічне спустошення.

And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, I will visit on the king of Babylon and on that nation, saith Jehovah, their iniquity, and on the land of the Chaldeans, and I will make it perpetual desolations.

13 І спроваджу на цей край всі Мої слова, що Я говорив був проти нього, усе, що написане в цій книзі, що пророкував Єремія про всі народи.

And I will bring upon that land all my words which I have pronounced against it, all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah hath prophesied against all the nations.

14 Б о їх поневолять численні народи та великі царі, і Я надолужу їм за їхнім чином та за ділом їхніх рук.

For many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of them also; and I will recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the work of their hands.

15 Б о так промовляє до мене Господь, Бог Ізраїлів: Візьми з Моєї руки келіха вина цього гніву, і напоїш ним усі народи, до яких посилаю тебе.

For thus hath Jehovah the God of Israel said unto me: Take the cup of the wine of this fury at my hand, and cause all the nations to whom I send thee to drink it.

16 І будуть вони пити, і будуть хитатися, стратять розум через меча, що Я посилаю між них...

And they shall drink, and reel to and fro, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them.

17 І взяв я келіха з Господньої руки, і напоїв усі народи, до яких Господь висилав мене:

And I took the cup at Jehovah's hand, and made all the nations to drink, to whom Jehovah had sent me:

18 Є русалим та міста Юди, і царів його та правителів його, щоб віддати їх на руїну, на страхіття, на посміховище та на прокляття, як цього дня,

Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them a waste, an astonishment, a hissing, and a curse, as it is this day;

19 ф араона, царя єгипетського, і рабів його, і правителів його, та ввесь його народ,

Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people;

20 і всю мішанину народів Єгипту, і всіх царів краю Уц, і всіх царів филистимського краю, і Ашкелон, і Аззу, і Екрон, і решту Ашдоду,

and all the mingled people, and all the kings of the land of Uz, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Gazah, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod;

21 Е дома й Моава та синів Аммона,

Edom, and Moab, and the children of Ammon;

22 і всіх царів Тиру, і всіх царів Сидону, і всіх царів островів, що на тому боці моря,

and all the kings of Tyre, and all the kings of Zidon, and the kings of the isles that are beyond the sea;

23 і Дедана, і Тему, і Буза, і всіх, що волосся довкола стрижуть,

Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all that have the corners cut off;

24 і всіх царів Арабії, і всіх царів мішаних народів, що пробувають у пустині,

and all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the mingled people that dwell in the desert;

25 і всіх царів Зімрі, і всіх царів Еламу, і всіх царів Мідії,

and all the kings of Zimri, and all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes;

26 і всіх царів півночі, близьких та далеких один від одного, і всі царства землі, що на земній поверхні, а цар Шешаху буде пити по них.

and all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another; and all the kingdoms of the world, which are upon the face of the earth; and the king of Sheshach shall drink after them.

27 І скажеш до них: Так говорить Господь Саваот, Бог Ізраїлів: Пийте й впивайтеся, і виметуйте, і падайте та не вставайте перед мечем, що Я посилаю між вас.

And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Drink, and be drunken, and vomit, and fall, and rise no more, because of the sword that I will send among you.

28 І буде, коли не захочуть вони взяти келіха з твоєї руки на пиття, то промовиш до них: Так говорить Господь Саваот: Конче будете пити!

And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup from thy hand to drink, then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Ye shall certainly drink.

29 Б о ось у місті, що там було кликане Ймення Моє, зачинаю чинити лихе, а чи ви не покарані будете? Покарані будете, бо Я кличу меча на всіх мешканців Краю, говорить Господь Саваот!

For behold, I begin to bring evil on the city that is called by my name, and should ye be altogether unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished; for I call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith Jehovah of hosts.

30 А ти пророкувати їм будеш усі ці слова, й до них скажеш: Господь загримить з височини, і з мешкання святого Свого Свій голос подасть! Загримить на оселю Свою, кликне Він, мов чавильники ті винограду, відповість усім мешканцям земним!

And thou, prophesy unto them all these words, and say unto them, Jehovah will roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he will mightily roar upon his dwelling-place, he will give a shout, as they that tread, against all the inhabitants of the earth.

31 Д ійде гомін до краю землі, бо в Господа пря із народами, Він буде судити кожне тіло і несправедливих віддасть їхньому мечеві, говорить Господь.

The noise shall come to the end of the earth: for Jehovah hath a controversy with the nations, he entereth into judgment with all flesh; as for the wicked, he will give them up to the sword, saith Jehovah.

32 Т ак говорить Господь Саваот: Ось лихо виходить від люду до люду, і буря велика пробудиться з кінців землі,

Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great storm shall be raised up from the uttermost parts of the earth.

33 і будуть побиті від Господа в день той лежати від краю землі й аж до краю землі: не будуть оплакувані, і не будуть позбирані, і не будуть поховані, гноєм стануть вони на поверхні землі!...

And the slain of Jehovah shall at that day from end of the earth even unto the end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the face of the ground.

34 Р идайте, о пастирі, та голосіть, і валяйтесь у попелі, проводирі ви отари, бо виповнились ваші дні для зарізу, і вас розпорошу, і впадете, немов дорога та посудина!...

Howl, ye shepherds, and cry; and wallow yourselves, noble ones of the flock: for the days of your slaughter are accomplished, and I will disperse you; and ye shall fall like a precious vessel.

35 І не матимуть пастирі захисту, а проводирі череди утікання...

And refuge shall perish from the shepherds, and escape from the noble ones of the flock.

36 І чути крик пастирів, і лемент тих проводирів череди, бо пустошить Господь їхню череду,

There shall be a voice of the cry of the shepherds, and a howling of the noble ones of the flock: for Jehovah layeth waste their pasture;

37 і попустошені мирні пасовиська через палання Господнього гніву...

and the peaceable enclosures shall be desolated, because of the fierce anger of Jehovah.

38 В ін покинув, як лев свою пущу, бо стався страхіттям їхній Край через меча гнобителя, і через запал гніву Його...

He hath forsaken his covert as a young lion; for their land is a desolation because of the fierceness of the oppressor, and because of his fierce anger.
