1 І Господь промовляв до Мойсея, говорячи:

And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,

2 П імсти мідіянітам за кривду Ізраїлевих синів, потім будеш прилучений до своєї рідні.

Avenge the children of Israel upon the Midianites; afterwards shalt thou be gathered unto thy peoples.

3 І промовив Мойсей до народу, говорячи: Озбройте з-поміж себе людей для війська, і будуть вони на мідіян, щоб дати Господню пімсту на мідіян.

And Moses spoke to the people, saying, Arm from amongst you men for military service, that they go against Midian to execute Jehovah's vengeance upon Midian.

4 П о тисячі з племені зо всіх Ізраїлевих племен пошлете до війська.

Of every tribe a thousand, of all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the war.

5 І були призначені з Ізраїлевих тисяч тисяча з племені дванадцять тисяч узброєних для війська.

And there were levied out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand by tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.

6 І послав їх Мойсей тисячу з кожного племени до їх війська, і Пінхаса, сина священика Елеазара, на війну, і святий посуд, і сурми для сурмлення в його руці.

And Moses sent them to the war, a thousand by the tribe, them and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war, and the holy instruments, even the alarm-trumpets in his hand.

7 І рушили війною на Мідіяна, як наказав був Господь Мойсеєві, і позабивали кожного чоловічої статі.

And they warred against Midian, as Jehovah had commanded Moses, and slew all the males.

8 І крім тих забитих, позабивали мідіянських царів: Евія, і Рекема, і Цура, і Хура, і Реву, п'ять мідіянських царів, і Валаама, Беорового сина, забили мечем.

And they slew the kings of Midian, besides the others slain, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian; and Balaam the son of Beor they slew with the sword.

9 І полонили Ізраїлеві сини мідіянських жінок і їхніх дітей, і всю їхню худобу, і всі їхні стада та ввесь їх маєток пограбували.

And the children of Israel took the women of Midian captives, and their little ones, and took for a spoil all their cattle and all their flocks and all their goods;

10 А всі їхні міста по їхніх осадах та всі їхні оселі попалили огнем.

and all their cities in their settlements and all their encampments they burned with fire.

11 І позабирали вони все захоплене й усю здобич, людей та худобу.

And they took all the booty, and all the prey, of man and of cattle;

12 І вони привели до Мойсея й до священика Елеазара та до громади Ізраїлевих синів полонених і здобич, і захоплене до табору, до моавських степів, що над приєрихонським Йорданом.

and they brought to Moses and Eleazar the priest, and to the assembly of the children of Israel, the captives and the prey and the booty, to the camp in the plains of Moab, which are by the Jordan of Jericho.

13 І вийшли Мойсей і священик Елеазар та всі начальники громади назустріч їм поза табір.

And Moses and Eleazar the priest and all the princes of the assembly went forth to meet them outside the camp.

14 І розгнівався Мойсей на військових провідників, тисячників та сотників, що верталися з війська тієї війни.

And Moses was wroth with the officers of the army, with the captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds, who came from the service of the war;

15 І сказав до них Мойсей: Чи ви позоставили живими всіх жінок?

and Moses said to them, Have ye saved all the women alive?

16 Т ож вони були для Ізраїлевих синів за радою Валаама причиною на відступлення від Господа через Пеора! І була поразка в Господній громаді.

Lo, these, through the counsel of Balaam, caused the children of Israel to commit sin against Jehovah in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague on the assembly of Jehovah.

17 А тепер позабивайте кожного хлопця між дітьми, і кожну жінку, що познала чоловіка на мужеськім ложі, повбивайте.

And now slay every male among the little ones, and slay every woman that hath known man by lying with him,

18 А всіх молодих жінок, що не познали мужеського ложа, зоставте живими для себе.

but all the children among the women that have not known lying with a man, keep alive for yourselves.

19 А ви пробудьте поза табором сім день. Кожен, хто забив кого, і кожен, хто доторкався трупа, очистьтеся дня третього й дня сьомого ви та ваші бранці.

And encamp outside the camp seven days; whoever hath killed a person, and whoever hath touched any slain; ye shall purify yourselves on the third day, and on the seventh day, you and your captives.

20 І ви очистите кожну одежу, і кожну шкуряну річ, і все зроблене з козиної вовни, і кожну дерев'яну річ.

And every garment, and every vessel of skin, and all work of goat's hair, and every utensil of wood shall ye purify.

21 І сказав священик Елеазар воїнам, що ходили на війну: Оце постанова закону, що Господь наказав був Мойсеєві:

And Eleazar the priest said to the men of war that had gone to the battle, This is the statute of the law which Jehovah hath commanded Moses.

22 Т ільки золото й срібло, мідь, залізо, цину та олово,

Only the gold, and the silver, the copper, the iron, the tin, and the lead,

23 к ожну річ, що видержить в огні, перепровадите через огонь, і стане чиста, тільки перше очищальною водою очиститься; а все, що не видержує огню, перепровадите через воду.

everything that passeth through the fire, ye shall make it go through the fire, and it shall be clean; only it shall be purified with the water of separation; and everything that cannot pass through the fire ye shall make go through the water.

24 І виперете одежу свою сьомого дня, і станете чисті, а потому ввійдете до табору.

And ye shall wash your garments on the seventh day, and ye shall be clean; and afterwards ye may come into the camp.

25 І Господь промовляв до Мойсея, говорячи:

And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,

26 П ерелічи здобич бранців між людьми й між худобою ти й священик Елеазар та голови батьківських домів громади.

Take the sum of the prey that was taken, of man and of cattle, thou, and Eleazar the priest, and the chief fathers of the assembly;

27 І поділиш ту здобич пополовині між учасниками війни, що входять до війська, і між усією громадою.

and divide the prey into halves, between them that conducted the war, who went out to the battle, and the whole assembly.

28 І принесеш данину для Господа від військових, що входять до війська, одну душу від п'яти сотень від людини й від великої худоби, і від ослів, і від худоби дрібної.

And thou shalt levy a tribute for Jehovah of the men of war who went out to the army, one soul of five hundred of the persons, and of the oxen, and of the asses, and of the small cattle.

29 З їхньої половини візьми, і даси священикові Елеазарові як Господнє приношення.

Of their half shall ye take it, and give it unto Eleazar the priest, for a heave-offering of Jehovah.

30 А з половини Ізраїлевих синів візьмеш одного вийнятого з п'ятидесяти з людини, з худоби великої, з ослів та з худоби дрібної, з кожної скотини, та й даси їх Левитам, що виконують сторожу Господньої скинії.

And of the children of Israel's half, thou shalt take one portion of fifty, of the persons, of the oxen, of the asses, and of the small cattle, of every beasts, and thou shalt give them unto the Levites, who keep the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah.

31 І зробив Мойсей та священик Елеазар, як Господь наказав був Мойсеєві.

And Moses and Eleazar the priest did as Jehovah had commanded Moses.

32 І була здобич, позостале грабунку, що захопили були військові: дрібної худоби шістсот тисяч і сімдесят тисяч і п'ять тисяч.

And the prey, the rest of the spoil, which the men of war had taken, was six hundred and seventy-five thousand sheep,

33 А худоба велика сімдесят і дві тисячі.

and seventy-two thousand oxen,

34 І осли шістдесят і одна тисяча.

and sixty-one thousand asses,

35 А душ людських із жінок, що не пізнали мужеського ложа, усіх душ тридцять і дві тисячі.

and of human persons, of the women that had not known lying with a man, all the persons were thirty-two thousand.

36 І була половина, частка тих, що входили до війська, число худоби дрібної триста тисяч і тридцять тисяч і сім тисяч і п'ять сотень.

And the half, the portion of them that had gone out to the war, was in number three hundred and thirty-seven thousand five hundred sheep,

37 І була данина для Господа з худоби дрібної, шість сотень сімдесят і п'ять.

and the tribute for Jehovah of the sheep was six hundred and seventy-five;

38 А худоба велика: тридцять і шість тисяч, а їхня данина для Господа сімдесят і двоє.

and the oxen were thirty-six thousand, and the tribute thereof for Jehovah, seventy-two;

39 А осли: тридцять тисяч і п'ять сотень, а їхня данина для Господа шістдесят і один.

and the asses were thirty thousand five hundred, and the tribute thereof for Jehovah, sixty-one;

40 А душ людських: шістнадцять тисяч, а їхня данина для Господа тридцять і дві душі.

and the human persons were sixteen thousand, of whom the tribute for Jehovah was thirty-two persons.

41 І дав Мойсей данину Господнього приношення священикові Елеазарові, як Господь наказав був Мойсеєві.

And Moses gave the tribute of Jehovah's heave-offering to Eleazar the priest, as Jehovah had commanded Moses.

42 І з половини Ізраїлевих синів, що Мойсей відділив, від людей, що вирушали на війну,

And of the children of Israel's half, which Moses had divided, from the men that served in the war,

43 і була громадська половина з дрібної худоби триста тисяч і тридцять тисяч і сім тисяч і п'ять сотень.

(now the half belonging to the assembly was of the sheep, three hundred and thirty-seven thousand five hundred,

44 А худоба велика тридцять і шість тисяч.

and thirty-six thousand oxen,

45 А осли тридцять тисяч і п'ять сотень.

and thirty thousand five hundred asses,

46 А людських душ шістнадцять тисяч,

and sixteen thousand human persons,)

47 і взяв Мойсей з половини Ізраїлевих синів вийнятого одного з п'ятидесяти з людини та зо скотини, та й дав їх Левитам, що виконують сторожу Господньої скинії, як Господь наказав був Мойсеєві.

… of the children of Israel's half, Moses took one portion of fifty, of man and of cattle, and gave them to the Levites who kept the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah; as Jehovah had commanded Moses.

48 І прийшли до Мойсея старшини над тисячами війська, тисячники та сотники,

And the officers who were over the thousands of the host, the captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds, came near to Moses,

49 т а й сказали Мойсеєві: Твої раби перелічили військових, що під нашою рукою, і нікого з нас не бракувало.

and they said to Moses, Thy servants have taken the sum of the men of war who were under our hand, and there is not one man of us lacking.

50 І ми принесли Господню жертву, кожен, хто знайшов що з золота, ланцюжок на ноги, і нараменник, перстень, сережки та нашийника на очищення наших душ перед Господнім лицем.

So we present the offering of Jehovah, that which each one hath found, jewels of gold, chains, and bracelets, rings, earrings, and necklaces, to make atonement for our souls before Jehovah.

51 І взяв Мойсей та священик Елеазар від них те золото, кожну зроблену річ.

And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of them, all manner of wrought jewels.

52 І було всього золота приношення, що принесли для Господа, шістнадцять тисяч сімсот і п'ятдесят шеклів від тисячників і від сотників.

And all the gold of the heave-offering that they offered to Jehovah was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels, from the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds.

53 В ійськові грабували кожен для себе.

(The men of war had taken spoil each one for himself.)

54 І взяв Мойсей та священик Елеазар те золото від тисячників та сотників, і внесли його до скинії заповіту, пам'ятка для Ізраїлевих синів перед Господнім лицем.

And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the tent of meeting, as a memorial for the children of Israel before Jehovah.
