1 C uando Salomón terminó de construir el templo del Señor, su propio palacio y todo lo que pensó hacer,

And it came to pass when Solomon had completed the building of the house of Jehovah, and the king's house, and all Solomon's desire which he was pleased to do,

2 e l Señor se le apareció por segunda vez, como ya lo había hecho en Gabaón,

that Jehovah appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared to him at Gibeon.

3 y le dijo: «He escuchado las oraciones y ruegos que has hecho ante mí, y he santificado el templo que tú construiste para que mi nombre esté siempre allí, y allí estarán siempre presentes mi corazón y mis ojos.

And Jehovah said to him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication which thou hast made before me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.

4 S i tú te conduces como tu padre David, que me honró de todo corazón y fue justo, y cumples con todo lo que yo te he mandado, y obedeces mis estatutos y decretos,

And thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, wilt keep my statutes and mine ordinances;

5 y o afirmaré tu reinado sobre mi pueblo Israel, porque así se lo prometí a tu padre. Yo le dije: “Nunca faltará un descendiente tuyo en el trono de Israel.”

then will I establish the throne of thy kingdom over Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel.

6 » Pero si ustedes, y los hijos de ustedes, se rebelan y se empeñan en apartarse de mí, y desobedecen los mandamientos y estatutos que he puesto ante ustedes, y se van a servir y adorar a dioses ajenos,

if ye shall at all turn from following me, ye or your children, and will not keep my commandments, my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them;

7 y o arrancaré al pueblo de Israel de la tierra que le di por herencia, y abandonaré este templo que fue edificado en mi honor y que yo consagré, y todas las naciones se burlarán de Israel.

then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and the house, which I have hallowed to my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a by word among all peoples;

8 L a gente que pase frente a este templo, que yo tenía en gran estima, se asombrará y se burlará, y dirá: “¿Por qué el Señor ha tratado tan mal a esta tierra y a este templo?”

and this house, is high, every one that passes by it shall be astonished at, and shall hiss, and they shall say, Why has Jehovah done thus to this land and to this house?

9 Y se le responderá: “Es que abandonaron al Señor su Dios, que sacó de Egipto a sus antepasados, y ellos prefirieron adorar y servir a dioses ajenos. Por eso el Señor los ha castigado.”» Otras actividades de Salomón

And they shall say, Because they forsook Jehovah their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have attached themselves to other gods, and have worshipped them and served them; therefore has Jehovah brought upon them all this evil.

10 V einte años después de que Salomón construyó el templo del Señor y su palacio real,

And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, when Solomon had built the two houses, the house of Jehovah and the king's house,

11 p ara los que el rey Jirán de Tiro le entregó mucha madera de cedro y de ciprés, y todo el oro que quiso, el rey Salomón le regaló a Jirán, en agradecimiento, veinte ciudades en la tierra de Galilea.

Hiram the king of Tyre having furnished Solomon with cedar-trees and cypress-trees, and with gold, according to all his desire,—that then king Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.

12 J irán salió entonces de Tiro para ver las ciudades que Salomón le había regalado, pero cuando las vio no le gustaron,

And Hiram came out from Tyre to see the cities that Solomon had given him; and they did not please him.

13 a sí que le dijo a Salomón: «Hermano, ¿por qué me has dado estas ciudades tan feas?» Y les puso por nombre «Tierras de Cabul», que es el nombre que hasta hoy conservan.

And he said, What cities are these which thou hast given me, my brother? And he called them the land of Cabul to this day.

14 C omo Jirán había enviado a Salomón tres mil novecientos sesenta kilos de oro,

And Hiram had sent to the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold.

15 S alomón impuso trabajo obligatorio para edificar el templo del Señor y el palacio real, Milo y la muralla de Jerusalén, y Jazor, Meguido y Guézer.

And this is the account of the levy which king Solomon raised, to build the house of Jehovah, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.

16 T iempo atrás el faraón, es decir, el rey de Egipto, había arrasado la ciudad de Guézer y le había prendido fuego, matando a los cananeos que allí habitaban, y luego se la dio como dote a su hija, la mujer de Salomón.

—Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up and taken Gezer, and burned it with fire, and slain the Canaanites that dwelt in the city, and given it as a dowry to his daughter, Solomon's wife.

17 E ntonces Salomón mandó restaurar Guézer y Bet Jorón la de abajo;

—And Solomon built Gezer, and lower Beth-horon,

18 t ambién restauró Baalat y Tadmor, que están en el desierto,

and Baalath, and Tadmor in the wilderness, in the land,

19 y todas las ciudades donde Salomón guardaba las provisiones, las caballerizas donde tenía sus carros de combate, los cuarteles de la caballería y todo lo que Salomón quiso edificar en Jerusalén, en el Líbano y en toda la tierra bajo su dominio.

and all the store-cities that Solomon had, and cities for chariots, and cities for the horsemen, and that which Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, and on Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.

20 A los pueblos no israelitas que quedaron con vida, como los amorreos, hititas, ferezeos, jivitas y jebuseos,

All the people that were left of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not of the children of Israel,

21 y a sus descendientes que los israelitas no pudieron exterminar, Salomón les impuso tributo y hasta el día de hoy lo pagan.

their children that were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel were not able utterly to destroy, upon them did Solomon impose a tribute of bondservice until this day.

22 P or el contrario, a ningún israelita le impuso Salomón trabajo alguno, aunque sí los enroló en su ejército o los puso a su servicio como jefes, capitanes y comandantes de sus carros de combate, o como jinetes.

But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no bondmen; but they were men of war, and his servants, and his chiefs, and his captains, and captains of his chariots, and his horsemen.

23 E l total de los hombres que Salomón nombró jefes y capataces de las obras de construcción fue de quinientos cincuenta, los cuales supervisaban a la gente que trabajaba en la construcción.

These were the chief superintendents that were over Solomon's work, five hundred and fifty, that ruled over the people that wrought in the work.

24 L a hija del faraón salió de la ciudad de David y se fue al palacio que Salomón había mandado construir para ella; y Salomón mandó edificar Milo.

But Pharaoh's daughter came up out of the city of David to her house which he had built for her: then he built Millo.

25 T res veces al año Salomón ofrecía holocaustos y ofrendas de reconciliación sobre el altar de bronce que mandó construir en el templo en honor al Señor. Después de que el templo quedó terminado, Salomón quemaba allí incienso al Señor.

And three times in the year did Solomon offer up burnt-offerings and peace-offerings upon the altar that he had built to Jehovah, and he burned incense upon that which was before Jehovah. So he finished the house.

26 E n Ezión Guéber, puerto que está cerca de Elat, a orillas del Mar Rojo, en el territorio de Edom, Salomón mandó construir naves.

And king Solomon made a fleet of ships in Ezion-Geber, which is beside Eloth, on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom.

27 E n esas naves Jirán envió a sus oficiales y marinos experimentados, junto con los oficiales de Salomón,

And Hiram sent in the fleet his servants, shipmen that had knowledge of the sea, with the servants of Solomon;

28 y fueron a Ofir y volvieron con las naves cargadas con catorce mil kilos de oro, mismos que llevaron al rey Salomón.

and they went to Ophir, and fetched thence gold, four hundred and twenty talents, and brought it to king Solomon.
