1 S eñor, tú has sido nuestro refugio de una generación a otra generación.

Lord, thou hast been our dwelling-place in all generations.

2 A ntes de que nacieran los montes y de que formaras la tierra y el mundo; desde los tiempos primeros y hasta los tiempos postreros, ¡tú eres Dios!

Before the mountains were brought forth, and thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from eternity to eternity thou art God.

3 N os devuelves al polvo cuando dices: «¡De vuelta al polvo, seres mortales!»

Thou makest man to return to dust, and sayest, Return, children of men.

4 P ara ti, mil años son, en realidad, como el día de ayer, que ya pasó; ¡son como una de las vigilias de la noche!

For a thousand years, in thy sight, are as yesterday when it is past, and a watch in the night.

5 ¡ Nos arrebatas como una violenta corriente! ¡Somos etéreos como un sueño! ¡Somos como la hierba que crece en la mañana!

Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are a sleep: in the morning they are like grass groweth up:

6 P or la mañana crecemos y florecemos, y por la tarde se nos corta, y nos secamos.

In the morning it flourisheth and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down and withereth.

7 C on tu furor somos consumidos; con tu ira quedamos desconcertados.

For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy fury are we troubled.

8 T ienes ante ti nuestras maldades; ¡pones al descubierto nuestros pecados!

Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret in the light of thy countenance.

9 N uestra vida declina por causa de tu ira; nuestros años se esfuman como un suspiro.

For all our days pass away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a thought.

10 S etenta años son los días de nuestra vida; ochenta años llegan a vivir los más robustos. Pero esa fuerza no es más que trabajos y molestias, pues los años pronto pasan, lo mismo que nosotros.

The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if, by reason of strength, they be fourscore years, yet their pride is labour and vanity, for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

11 ¿ Quién conoce la fuerza de tu ira, y hasta qué punto tu enojo debe ser temido?

Who knoweth the power of thine anger? and thy wrath according to the fear of thee?

12 ¡ Enséñanos a contar bien nuestros días, para que en el corazón acumulemos sabiduría!

So teach to number our days, that we may acquire a wise heart.

13 S eñor, ¿hasta cuándo te volverás a nosotros? ¡Calma ya tu enojo con tus siervos!

Return, Jehovah: how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.

14 ¡ Sácianos de tu misericordia al empezar el día, y todos nuestros días cantaremos y estaremos felices!

Satisfy us early with thy loving-kindness; that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

15 ¡ Danos la alegría que no tuvimos todo el tiempo que nos afligiste, todos los años en que experimentamos el mal!

Make us glad according to the days thou hast afflicted us, according to the years we have seen evil.

16 ¡ Haz que tus obras se manifiesten en tus siervos, y que tu gloria repose sobre sus hijos!

Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy majesty unto their sons.

17 S eñor y Dios nuestro, ¡muéstranos tu bondad y confirma la obra de nuestras manos! ¡Sí, confirma la obra de nuestras manos!

And let the beauty of Jehovah our God be upon us; and establish thou the work of our hands upon us: yea, the work of our hands, establish thou it.
