1 D espués de esto, el Señor eligió a otros setenta y dos, y de dos en dos los envió delante de él a todas las ciudades y lugares adonde él tenía que ir.

Now after these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place where he himself was about to come.

2 L es dijo: «Ciertamente, es mucha la mies, pero son pocos los segadores. Por tanto, pidan al Señor de la mies que envíe segadores a cosechar la mies.

And he said to them, The harvest indeed great, but the workmen few; supplicate therefore the Lord of the harvest that he may send out workmen into his harvest.

3 Y ustedes, pónganse en camino. Pero tengan en cuenta que yo los envío como a corderos en medio de lobos.

Go: behold I send you forth as lambs in the midst of wolves.

4 N o lleven bolsa, ni alforja, ni calzado; ni se detengan en el camino a saludar a nadie.

Carry neither purse nor scrip nor sandals, and salute no one on the way.

5 E n cualquier casa adonde entren, antes que nada digan: “Paz a esta casa.”

And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace to this house.

6 S i allí hay gente de paz, la paz de ustedes reposará sobre esa gente; de lo contrario, la paz volverá a ustedes.

And if a son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it; but if not it shall turn to you again.

7 Q uédense en esa misma casa, y coman y beban lo que les den, porque el obrero es digno de su salario. No vayan de casa en casa.

And in the same house abide, eating and drinking such things as they have; for the workman is worthy of his hire. Remove not from house to house.

8 E n cualquier ciudad donde entren, y los reciban, coman lo que les ofrezcan.

And into whatsoever city ye may enter and they receive you, eat what is set before you,

9 S anen a los enfermos que allí haya, y díganles: “El reino de Dios se ha acercado a ustedes.”

and heal the sick in it, and say to them, The kingdom of God is come nigh to you.

10 P ero si llegan a alguna ciudad y no los reciben, salgan a la calle y digan:

But into whatsoever city ye may have entered and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say,

11 “ Hasta el polvo de su ciudad, que se ha pegado a nuestros pies, lo sacudimos contra ustedes. Pero sepan que el reino de Dios se ha acercado a ustedes.”

Even the dust of your city, which cleaves to us on the feet, do we shake off against you; but know this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh.

12 Y o les digo que, en aquel día, el castigo para Sodoma será más tolerable que para aquella ciudad. Ayes sobre las ciudades impenitentes

I say to you that it shall be more tolerable for Sodom in that day than for that city.

13 » ¡Ay de ti, Corazín! ¡Y ay de ti, Betsaida! Porque si en Tiro y en Sidón se hubieran hecho los milagros que se han hecho en ustedes, ya hace tiempo que, sentadas en cilicio y cubiertas de ceniza, habrían mostrado su arrepentimiento.

Woe to thee, Chorazin! woe to thee, Bethsaida! for if the works of power which have taken place in you had taken place in Tyre and Sidon, they had long ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

14 P or tanto, en el día del juicio, el castigo para Tiro y para Sidón será más tolerable que para ustedes.

But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment than for you.

15 Y tú, Cafarnaún, que te elevas hasta los cielos, ¡hasta el Hades caerás abatida!

And thou, Capernaum, who hast been raised up to heaven, shalt be brought down even to hades.

16 » El que los escucha a ustedes, me escucha a mí. El que los rechaza a ustedes, me rechaza a mí; y el que me rechaza a mí, rechaza al que me envió.» Regreso de los setenta y dos

He that hears you hears me; and he that rejects you rejects me; and he that rejects me rejects him that sent me.

17 C uando los setenta y dos volvieron, estaban muy contentos y decían: «Señor, en tu nombre, ¡hasta los demonios se nos sujetan!»

And the seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject to us through thy name.

18 J esús les dijo: «Yo veía a Satanás caer del cielo como un rayo.

And he said to them, I beheld Satan as lightning falling out of heaven.

19 M iren que yo les he dado a ustedes poder para aplastar serpientes y escorpiones, y para vencer a todo el poder del enemigo, sin que nada los dañe.

Behold, I give you the power of treading upon serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall in anywise injure you.

20 P ero no se alegren de que los espíritus se les sujetan, sino de que los nombres de ustedes ya están escritos en los cielos.» Jesús se regocija

Yet in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subjected to you, but rejoice that your names are written in the heavens.

21 E n ese momento Jesús se regocijó en el Espíritu Santo, y dijo: «Te alabo, Padre, Señor del cielo y de la tierra, porque estas cosas las escondiste de los sabios y entendidos, y las revelaste a los niños. ¡Sí, Padre, porque así te agradó!

In the same hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit and said, I praise thee, Father, Lord of the heaven and of the earth, that thou hast hid these things from wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to babes: yea, Father, for thus has it been well-pleasing in thy sight.

22 M i Padre me ha entregado todas las cosas, y nadie conoce al Hijo, sino el Padre; ni nadie conoce al Padre, sino el Hijo, y aquel a quien el Hijo lo quiera revelar.»

All things have been delivered to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is but the Father, and who the Father is but the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son is pleased to reveal.

23 J esús se volvió a los discípulos, y aparte les dijo: «Dichosos los ojos que ven lo que ustedes ven.

And having turned to the disciples privately he said, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see.

24 P orque les digo que muchos profetas y reyes desearon ver lo que ustedes ven, pero no lo vieron; y oír lo que ustedes oyen, pero no lo oyeron.» El buen samaritano

For I say to you that many prophets and kings have desired to see the things which ye behold, and did not see; and to hear the things which ye hear, and did not hear.

25 E n ese momento, un intérprete de la ley se levantó y, para poner a prueba a Jesús, dijo: «Maestro, ¿qué debo hacer para heredar la vida eterna?»

And behold, a certain lawyer stood up tempting him, and saying, Teacher, having done what, shall I inherit life eternal?

26 J esús le dijo: «¿Qué es lo que está escrito en la ley? ¿Qué lees allí?»

And he said to him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

27 E l intérprete de la ley respondió: «Amarás al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma, con todas tus fuerzas y con toda tu mente, y a tu prójimo como a ti mismo.»

But he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thine understanding; and thy neighbour as thyself.

28 J esús le dijo: «Has contestado correctamente. Haz esto, y vivirás.»

And he said to him, Thou hast answered right: this do and thou shalt live.

29 P ero aquél, queriendo justificarse a sí mismo, le preguntó a Jesús: «¿Y quién es mi prójimo?»

But he, desirous of justifying himself, said to Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

30 J esús le respondió: «Un hombre descendía de Jerusalén a Jericó, y cayó en manos de unos ladrones, que le robaron todo lo que tenía y lo hirieron, dejándolo casi muerto.

And Jesus replying said, A certain man descended from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell into robbers, who also, having stripped him and inflicted wounds, went away leaving him in a half-dead state.

31 P or el camino descendía un sacerdote, y aunque lo vio, siguió de largo.

And a certain priest happened to go down that way, and seeing him, passed on on the opposite side;

32 C erca de aquel lugar pasó también un levita, y aunque lo vio, siguió de largo.

and in like manner also a Levite, being at the spot, came and looked and passed on on the opposite side.

33 P ero un samaritano, que iba de camino, se acercó al hombre y, al verlo, se compadeció de él

But a certain Samaritan journeying came to him, and seeing, was moved with compassion,

34 y le curó las heridas con aceite y vino, y se las vendó; luego lo puso sobre su cabalgadura y lo llevó a una posada, y cuidó de él.

and came up and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine; and having put him on his own beast, took him to inn and took care of him.

35 A l otro día, antes de partir, sacó dos monedas, se las dio al dueño de la posada, y le dijo: “Cuídalo. Cuando yo regrese, te pagaré todo lo que hayas gastado de más.”

And on the morrow, taking out two denarii he gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, Take care of him, and whatsoever thou shalt expend more, I will render to thee on my coming back.

36 D e estos tres, ¿cuál crees que fue el prójimo del que cayó en manos de los ladrones?»

Which of these three seems to thee to have been neighbour of him who fell into the robbers?

37 A quél respondió: «El que tuvo compasión de él.» Entonces Jesús le dijo: «Pues ve y haz tú lo mismo.» Jesús visita a Marta y a María

And he said, He that shewed him mercy. And Jesus said to him, Go, and do thou likewise.

38 M ientras Jesús iba de camino, entró en una aldea, y una mujer llamada Marta, lo hospedó en su casa.

And it came to pass as they went that he entered into a certain village; and a certain woman, Martha by name, received him into her house.

39 M arta tenía una hermana que se llamaba María, la cual se sentó a los pies de Jesús para escuchar lo que él decía.

And she had a sister called Mary, who also, having sat down at the feet of Jesus was listening to his word.

40 P ero Marta, que estaba ocupada con muchos quehaceres, se acercó a Jesús y le dijo: «Señor, ¿no te importa que mi hermana me deje trabajar sola? ¡Dile que me ayude!»

Now Martha was distracted with much serving, and coming up she said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Speak to her therefore that she may help me.

41 J esús le respondió: «Marta, Marta, estás preocupada y aturdida con muchas cosas.

But Jesus answering said to her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things;

42 P ero una sola cosa es necesaria. María ha escogido la mejor parte, y nadie se la quitará.»

but there is need of one, and Mary has chosen the good part, the which shall not be taken from her.
