1 ¡ Miren esto! Dios, el Señor de los ejércitos, va a dejar a Jerusalén y a Judá sin apoyo alguno y sin provisiones. Va a dejarlas sin pan y sin agua,

For behold, the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, will take away from Jerusalem and from Judah stay and staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,

2 s in guerreros ni soldados, sin jueces ni profetas, sin adivinos ni ancianos,

the mighty man and the man of war, the judge and the prophet, and the diviner and the elder,

3 s in capitanes ni líderes respetables, sin consejeros ni artesanos ni oradores.

the captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the clever among artificers, and the one versed in enchantments.

4 U nos jovencitos serán sus líderes; unos chiquillos serán sus gobernantes.

And I will appoint youths as their princes, and children shall rule over them.

5 E ntre el pueblo, unos a otros se harán violencia: amigos contra amigos, jóvenes contra ancianos, marginados contra poderosos.

And the people shall be oppressed one by the other, and each by his neighbour; the child will be insolent against the elder, and the base against the honourable.

6 S i de la familia de su padre alguien toma a su hermano y le dice: «Tú, que estás bien vestido, serás nuestro príncipe. Hazte cargo de este montón de ruinas»,

When a man shall take hold of his brother, in his father's house, Thou hast clothing; be our chief, and let this ruin be under thy hand;

7 a quél jurará ese día, y dirá: «No puedo aceptar ese cargo, pues en mi casa no tenemos qué comer ni qué vestir. No me hagan príncipe del pueblo.»

he will lift up in that day, saying, I cannot be a healer, and in my house there is neither bread nor clothing; ye shall not make me a chief of the people.

8 J erusalén está en ruinas; Judá ha caído, porque con sus palabras y sus hechos han provocado al Señor; a sus ojos han ofendido su majestad.

For Jerusalem stumbleth and Judah falleth, because their tongue and their doings are against Jehovah, to provoke the eyes of his glory.

9 L a apariencia de su rostro los acusa; son como Sodoma, pues no disimulan su pecado sino que lo pregonan. ¡Ay de su alma, pues ellos mismos se perjudican!

The look of their face doth witness against them, and they declare their sin as Sodom: they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have brought evil upon themselves.

10 D íganle al hombre justo que le irá bien, y que comerá del fruto de sus obras.

Say ye of the righteous that it shall be well, for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.

11 ¡ Pero ay del malvado! Mal le irá, y conforme a sus obras se le pagará.

Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill, because the desert of his hands shall be rendered unto him.

12 ¡ Ay, pueblo mío! ¡Oprimido por los imberbes, gobernado por las mujeres! ¡Tus líderes te engañan y te hacen perder el rumbo!

my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. My people! they that guide thee mislead, and destroy the way of thy paths.

13 E l Señor se dispone a litigar. Ya ocupa su puesto para juzgar a los pueblos.

Jehovah setteth himself to plead, and standeth to judge the peoples.

14 E l Señor abrirá juicio contra ustedes, ancianos y príncipes de su pueblo, porque han devorado la viña y tienen en sus casas lo que les arrebataron a los pobres.

Jehovah will enter into judgment with the elders of his people and their princes, It is ye that have eaten up the vineyard: the spoil of the poor is in your houses.

15 « ¿Qué se creen ustedes, los que aplastan a mi pueblo y muelen a golpes el rostro de los pobres?» —Palabra de Dios, el Señor de los ejércitos. Juicio contra las mujeres de Sión

What mean ye that ye crush my people, and grind the faces of the afflicted? saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts.

16 E l Señor dice: «Por la soberbia de las hijas de Sión; por andar con el cuello erguido y con miradas provocativas; por su paso insinuante, con ritmo de danza;

And Jehovah said, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched-out neck and wanton eyes, and go along mincing, and making a tinkling with their feet;

17 p or todo eso yo, el Señor, les raparé la cabeza a las hijas de Sión; ¡yo, el Señor, las dejaré trasquiladas!

therefore the Lord will make bald the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and Jehovah will lay bare their secret parts.

18 » Ese día yo, el Señor, les quitaré los adornos de los tobillos, las diademas, las lunetas,

In that day the Lord will take away the ornament of anklets, and the little suns and crescents,

19 l os collares, los pendientes, las pulseras,

the pearl-drops, and the bracelets, and the veils,

20 l as cofias, los atavíos en los tobillos, las peinetas, los frasquitos de perfume, los zarcillos,

the head-dresses, and the stepping chains, and the girdles, and the scent-boxes, and the amulets;

21 l os anillos, las argollas,

the finger-rings, and the nose-rings;

22 l as ropas de gala, los mantos, los velos, las bolsas,

the festival-robes, and the tunics, and the mantles, and the wallets;

23 l os espejos, el fino lino, las gasas y los tocados.

the mirrors, and the fine linen bodices, and the turbans, and the flowing veils.

24 E n lugar de finos aromas habrá pestilencia; cuerdas en lugar de cinturones, y cabezas rapadas en lugar de peinados ostentosos; en lugar de elegantes ropajes habrá harapiento cilicio, y marcas de hierro candente en lugar de hermosura.

And it shall come to pass, instead of perfume there shall be rottenness; and instead of a girdle, a rope; and instead of well-set hair, baldness; and instead of a robe of display, a girding of sackcloth; brand instead of beauty.

25 T us varones caerán a filo de espada, y tus valientes morirán en la guerra.

Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the fight;

26 L uto y tristeza habrá en las puertas de la ciudad; y ésta, abandonada, se sentará en el suelo.

and her gates shall lament and mourn; and, stripped, she shall sit upon the ground.
