Then king Darius gave orders, and search was made in the house of the rolls, where the treasures were laid up in Babylon.

2 y en el palacio de Acmeta, que está en la provincia de Media, hallaron un libro con este escrito: «Memorándum.

And there was found at Achmetha in the fortress that is in the province of Media a roll, and therein was a record thus written:

3 F echado el primer año del rey Ciro. »Su Majestad ordena la reconstrucción del templo de Dios en Jerusalén, y el restablecimiento de los sacrificios. »Su Majestad ordena también que las murallas sean reafirmadas, con una altura y una anchura de sesenta codos,

In the first year of king Cyrus, king Cyrus made a decree the house of God at Jerusalem: Let the house be built for a place where they offer sacrifices, and let its foundations be solidly laid; its height sixty cubits, its breadth sixty cubits,

4 y con tres hileras de grandes bloques de piedra y una hilera de madera nueva. El costo total de la obra será pagado por el tesoro real.

three rows of great stones, and a row of new timber; and let the expenses be given out of the king's house:

5 » En cuanto a los utensilios de oro y de plata del templo de Dios en Jerusalén, los cuales Nabucodonosor sacó de allí para traerlos a Babilonia, éstos deberán ser devueltos y llevados al templo de Dios en Jerusalén.» Respuesta de Darío a Tatenay

and also let the golden and silver vessels of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple that is at Jerusalem and brought to Babylon, be restored and brought again to the temple that is at Jerusalem, in their place; and thou shalt put in the house of God.

6 « Por lo tanto, ustedes, Tatenay, gobernador de la ribera occidental del río Éufrates, y Setar Bosnay y compañeros, deberán alejarse de allí

Therefore Tatnai, governor beyond the river, Shethar-boznai, and your companions the Apharsachites, who are beyond the river, be ye far from thence:

7 y dejar que el gobernador y los ancianos judíos lleven a cabo la reconstrucción del templo de Dios en su mismo lugar.

let the work of this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God in its place.

8 » Yo, Darío, ordeno que los gastos de la obra sean cubiertos puntualmente por la tesorería del rey, tomándolos de los tributos que se recogen al otro lado del río Éufrates y entregándolos a los ancianos judíos para que la obra de reconstrucción no se detenga.

Moreover, I give orders what ye shall do to these elders of the Jews, for the building of this house of God: that of the king's goods, of the tribute beyond the river, expenses be diligently given to these men, that they be not hindered.

9 T odo lo que sea necesario, como becerros, carneros, corderos, trigo, sal, vino y aceite para los holocaustos en honor del Dios del cielo, sea proporcionado diariamente a los sacerdotes en Jerusalén, según ellos lo pidan y sin obstáculo alguno,

And that which they have need of, both young bullocks and rams and lambs, for the burnt-offerings to the God of the heavens, wheat, salt, wine, and oil, according to the appointment of the priests that are at Jerusalem, let it be given them day by day without fail;

10 a fin de que puedan ofrecer sacrificios gratos al Dios del cielo, y oren por la vida del rey y de sus hijos.

that they may present sweet odours to the God of the heavens, and pray for the life of the king and of his sons.

11 » Yo, Darío, ordeno que cualquiera que altere este decreto sea empalado con una viga arrancada de su propia casa, y que esa casa sea convertida en un muladar.

Also I have given order that whosoever shall alter this rescript, let timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be hanged thereon, and let his house be made a dunghill for this.

12 Q ue el Dios que estableció ese lugar como residencia de su nombre destruya a cualquier rey o pueblo que interfiera o se oponga, o quiera destruir el templo de Dios en Jerusalén. Yo, Darío, emito este decreto y ordeno que se cumpla con prontitud.» Reanudación de las obras de reconstrucción

And the God that has caused his name to dwell there overthrow every king and people that shall put forth their hand to alter to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I Darius have given order; let it be done diligently.

13 E ntonces Tatenay, que era el gobernador de la ribera occidental del río Éufrates, y Setar Bosnay y sus compañeros, se apresuraron a cumplir lo que el rey Darío había ordenado.

Then Tatnai, governor on this side the river, Shethar-boznai, and their companions, because of that which king Darius had sent, did so diligently.

14 A sí, los ancianos judíos avanzaron en la obra de reconstrucción, tal como lo habían anunciado los profetas Hageo y Zacarías hijo de Iddo. La obra se terminó porque el Dios de Israel así lo ordenó, y por los decretos de Ciro, Darío y Artajerjes, reyes de Persia. Culminación de las obras de reconstrucción

And the elders of the Jews built; and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they built and completed according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the commandment of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.

15 L a reconstrucción del templo concluyó el tercer día del mes de Adar del sexto año del reinado de Darío.

And this house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was in the sixth year of the reign of king Darius.

16 E se día, los israelitas, los sacerdotes y los levitas, y todos lo que habían vuelto del cautiverio, celebraron con gran alegría la dedicación del templo de Dios.

And the children of Israel, the priests and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy;

17 C omo expiación por los pecados de todos los israelitas, se ofrecieron cien becerros, doscientos carneros, cuatrocientos corderos, y doce machos cabríos, conforme al número de las tribus de Israel.

and they presented at the dedication of this house of God a hundred bullocks, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs, and for a sin-offering for all Israel, twelve he-goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.

18 A los sacerdotes se les asignaron sus turnos, lo mismo que a los levitas, para que sirvieran a Dios en Jerusalén, conforme a lo estipulado en el libro de Moisés.

And they set the priests in their classes, and the Levites in their divisions, for the service of God, which is at Jerusalem: as it is written in the book of Moses.

19 T ambién los israelitas que volvieron del cautiverio celebraron la fiesta de la pascua el día catorce del primer mes.

And the children of the captivity held the passover upon the fourteenth of the first month.

20 L os sacerdotes y los levitas se habían purificado como un solo hombre, y estaban ritualmente limpios y listos para ofrecer el sacrificio de la pascua, tanto por ellos mismos como por los que habían estado cautivos y por sus hermanos los sacerdotes.

For the priests and the Levites had purified themselves as one: they were all pure; and they killed the passover for all the children of the captivity, and for their brethren the priests, and for themselves.

21 L os israelitas que habían vuelto del cautiverio comieron con todos los que se habían apartado de las prácticas repugnantes de la gente que habitaba esas tierras, y habían decidido buscar al Señor, el Dios de Israel.

And the children of Israel that were come back out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves to them from the filthiness of the nations of the land, to seek Jehovah the God of Israel, did eat;

22 C on gran alegría celebraron durante siete días la fiesta solemne de los panes sin levadura, porque el Señor los había llenado de alegría al hacer que el rey de Asiria se compadeciera de ellos, y porque habían cobrado fuerzas para la reconstrucción del templo del Dios de Israel.

and they kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy; for Jehovah had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria to them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.
