1 A nd the whole earth had one language, and the same words.

Toda la tierra hablaba la misma lengua y las mismas palabras.

2 A nd it came to pass as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and dwelt there.

Y aconteció que según iban hacia el oriente, hallaron una llanura en la tierra de Sinar, y se establecieron allí.

3 A nd they said one to another, Come on, let us make bricks, and burn thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar.

Y se dijeron unos a otros: Vamos, fabriquemos ladrillos y cozámos los bien. Y usaron ladrillo en lugar de piedra, y asfalto en lugar de mezcla.

4 A nd they said, Come on, let us build ourselves a city and a tower, the top of which to the heavens; and let us make ourselves a name, lest we be scattered over the face of the whole earth.

Y dijeron: Vamos, edifiquémonos una ciudad y una torre cuya cúspide llegue hasta los cielos, y hagámonos un nombre famoso, para que no seamos dispersados sobre la faz de toda la tierra.

5 A nd Jehovah came down to see the city and the tower which the children of men built.

Y el Señor descendió para ver la ciudad y la torre que habían edificado los hijos de los hombres.

6 A nd Jehovah said, Behold, the people is one, and have all one language; and this have they begun to do. And now will they be hindered in nothing that they meditate doing.

Y dijo el Señor: He aquí, son un solo pueblo y todos ellos tienen la misma lengua. Y esto es lo que han comenzado a hacer, y ahora nada de lo que se propongan hacer les será imposible.

7 C ome, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.

Vamos, bajemos y allí confundamos su lengua, para que nadie entienda el lenguaje del otro.

8 A nd Jehovah scattered them thence over the face of the whole earth. And they left off building the city.

Así los dispersó el Señor desde allí sobre la faz de toda la tierra, y dejaron de edificar la ciudad.

9 T herefore was its name called Babel; because Jehovah there confounded the language of the whole earth. And Jehovah scattered them thence over the face of the whole earth.

Por eso fue llamada Babel, porque allí confundió el Señor la lengua de toda la tierra; y de allí los dispersó el Señor sobre la faz de toda la tierra. Descendientes de Sem

10 T hese are the generations of Shem. Shem was a hundred years old, and begot Arphaxad two years after the flood.

Estas son las generaciones de Sem: Sem tenía cien años, y engendró a Arfaxad dos años después del diluvio.

11 A nd Shem lived after he had begotten Arphaxad five hundred years, and begot sons and daughters.

Y vivió Sem quinientos años después de haber engendrado a Arfaxad, y engendró hijos e hijas.

12 A nd Arphaxad lived thirty-five years, and begot Shelah.

Arfaxad vivió treinta y cinco años, y engendró a Sala.

13 A nd Arphaxad lived after he had begotten Shelah four hundred and three years, and begot sons and daughters.

Y vivió Arfaxad cuatrocientos tres años después de haber engendrado a Sala, y engendró hijos e hijas.

14 A nd Shelah lived thirty years, and begot Eber.

Sala vivió treinta años, y engendró a Heber.

15 A nd Shelah lived after he had begotten Eber four hundred and three years, and begot sons and daughters.

Y vivió Sala cuatrocientos tres años después de haber engendrado a Heber, y engendró hijos e hijas.

16 A nd Eber lived thirty-four years, and begot Peleg.

Heber vivió treinta y cuatro años, y engendró a Peleg.

17 A nd Eber lived after he had begotten Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begot sons and daughters.

Y vivió Heber cuatrocientos treinta años después de haber engendrado a Peleg, y engendró hijos e hijas.

18 A nd Peleg lived thirty years, and begot Reu.

Peleg vivió treinta años, y engendró a Reu.

19 A nd Peleg lived after he had begotten Reu two hundred and nine years, and begot sons and daughters.

Y vivió Peleg doscientos nueve años después de haber engendrado a Reu, y tuvo hijos e hijas.

20 A nd Reu lived thirty-two years, and begot Serug.

Reu vivió treinta y dos años, y engendró a Serug.

21 A nd Reu lived after he had begotten Serug two hundred and seven years, and begot sons and daughters.

Y vivió Reu doscientos siete años después de haber engendrado a Serug, y engendró hijos e hijas.

22 A nd Serug lived thirty years, and begot Nahor.

Serug vivió treinta años, y engendró a Nacor.

23 A nd Serug lived after he had begotten Nahor two hundred years, and begot sons and daughters.

Y vivió Serug doscientos años después de haber engendrado a Nacor, y engendró hijos e hijas.

24 A nd Nahor lived twenty-nine years, and begot Terah.

Nacor vivió veintinueve años, y engendró a Taré.

25 A nd Nahor lived after he had begotten Terah a hundred and nineteen years, and begot sons and daughters.

Y vivió Nacor ciento diecinueve años después de haber engendrado a Taré, y engendró hijos e hijas.

26 A nd Terah lived seventy years, and begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

Taré vivió setenta años, y engendró a Abram, a Nacor y a Harán. Descendientes de Taré

27 A nd these are the generations of Terah: Terah begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begot Lot.

Estas son las generaciones de Taré: Taré engendró a Abram, a Nacor y a Harán; y Harán engendró a Lot.

28 A nd Haran died before the face of his father Terah in the land of his nativity at Ur of the Chaldeans.

Y murió Harán en presencia de su padre Taré en la tierra de su nacimiento, en Ur de los caldeos.

29 A nd Abram and Nahor took wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, a daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah and the father of Iscah.

Y Abram y Nacor tomaron para sí mujeres. El nombre de la mujer de Abram era Sarai, y el nombre de la mujer de Nacor, Milca, hija de Harán, padre de Milca y de Isca.

30 A nd Sarai was barren: she had no child.

Y Sarai era estéril; no tenía hijo.

31 A nd Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth together out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to go into the land of Canaan, and came as far as Haran, and dwelt there.

Y Taré tomó a Abram su hijo, a su nieto Lot, hijo de Harán, y a Sarai su nuera, mujer de su hijo Abram; y salieron juntos de Ur de los caldeos, en dirección a la tierra de Canaán; y llegaron hasta Harán, y se establecieron allí.

32 A nd the days of Terah were two hundred and five years; and Terah died in Haran.

Los días de Taré fueron doscientos cinco años; y murió Taré en Harán.
