1 A t that time, saith Jehovah, they shall bring forth the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of his princes, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves;

En aquel tiempo —declara el Señor — sacarán de sus tumbas los huesos de los reyes de Judá, los huesos de sus príncipes, los huesos de los sacerdotes, los huesos de los profetas y los huesos de los habitantes de Jerusalén;

2 a nd they shall spread them out to the sun and to the moon and to all the host of the heavens, which they have loved, and which they have served, and after which they have walked, and which they have sought, and which they have worshipped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried; they shall be for dung upon the face of the ground.

y los esparcirán al sol, a la luna y a todo el ejército del cielo, a quienes amaron y sirvieron, y a quienes siguieron, a quienes buscaron y adoraron. No serán recogidos ni enterrados; serán como estiércol sobre la faz de la tierra.

3 A nd death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue that remain of this evil family, in all the places whither I have driven those that remain, saith Jehovah of hosts.

Y escogerá la muerte en lugar de la vida todo el remanente que quede de este linaje malvado, los que queden en todos los lugares adonde los he arrojado —declara el Señor de los ejércitos.

4 A nd thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah: Do fall, and not rise up? Doth one turn away, and not return?

Y les dirás: “Así dice el Señor: ‘Los que caen ¿no se levantan ? El que se desvía ¿no se arrepiente ?

5 W hy hath this people of Jerusalem slidden back with a perpetual backsliding? They hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.

‘¿Por qué entonces este pueblo, Jerusalén, se ha desviado en continua apostasía ? Se aferran al engaño, rehúsan volver.

6 I hearkened and heard: they speak not what is right; there is no man who repenteth him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? Every one turneth to his course, like a horse rushing into the battle.

‘He escuchado y oído, han hablado lo que no es recto; ninguno se arrepiente de su maldad, diciendo: “¿Qué he hecho?” Cada cual vuelve a su carrera, como caballo que arremete en la batalla.

7 E ven a stork in the heavens knoweth her appointed times, and the turtle-dove and the swallow and the crane observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of Jehovah.

‘Aun la cigüeña en el cielo conoce sus estaciones, y la tórtola, la golondrina y la grulla guardan la época de sus migraciones; pero mi pueblo no conoce la ordenanza del Señor.

8 H ow do ye say, We are wise, and the law of Jehovah is with us? Behold, certainly the lying pen of the scribes hath made it falsehood.

‘¿Cómo decís: “Somos sabios, y la ley del Señor está con nosotros”?, cuando he aquí, la ha cambiado en mentira la pluma mentirosa de los escribas.

9 T he wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: behold, they have rejected Jehovah's word; and what wisdom is in them?

‘Los sabios son avergonzados, están abatidos y atrapados; he aquí, ellos han desechado la palabra del Señor, ¿y qué clase de sabiduría tienen?

10 T herefore will I give their wives unto others, their fields to those that shall possess; for every one, from the least even unto the greatest, is given to covetousness; from the prophet even unto the priest, every one dealeth falsely.

‘ Por tanto, daré sus mujeres a otros, y sus campos a nuevos dueños; porque desde el menor hasta el mayor todos ellos codician ganancias; desde el profeta hasta el sacerdote todos practican el engaño.

11 A nd they have healed the breach of the daughter of my people lightly, saying, Peace, peace! when there is no peace.

‘Y curan a la ligera el quebranto de la hija de mi pueblo, diciendo: “Paz, paz”, pero no hay paz.

12 A re they ashamed that they have committed abomination? Nay, they are not at all ashamed, and they know not how to blush. Therefore shall they fall among them that fall: in the time of their visitation they shall stumble, saith Jehovah.

‘¿Se han avergonzado de la abominación que han cometido? Ciertamente no se han avergonzado, tampoco han sabido ruborizarse; por tanto caerán entre los que caigan, en la hora de su castigo serán derribados ’ —dice el Señor.

13 I will utterly take them away, saith Jehovah: there are no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig-tree; and the leaf is faded: and I will give them up to those that shall pass over them.

‘Ciertamente los destruiré ’ —declara el Señor —; ‘no habrá uvas en la vid, ni higos en la higuera, y la hoja se marchitará; lo que les he dado, pasará de ellos.’”

14 W hy do we sit still? Assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the fenced cities, and let us be silent there: for Jehovah our God hath put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against Jehovah.

¿Por qué estamos aún sentados? Congregaos, y entremos en las ciudades fortificadas, y perezcamos allí, pues el Señor nuestro Dios nos hace perecer y nos ha dado a beber agua envenenada, porque hemos pecado contra el Señor.

15 P eace is looked for, and there is no good; a time of healing, and behold, terror.

Esperábamos paz, y no hubo bien alguno; tiempo de curación, y he aquí, terror.

16 T he snorting of his horses is heard from Dan: the whole land trembleth at the sound of the neighing of his steeds, and they come, and devour the land, and all it contains, the city and those that dwell therein.

Desde Dan se oye el resoplido de sus caballos; al sonido de los relinchos de sus corceles, tiembla toda la tierra; vienen y devoran la tierra y cuanto hay en ella, la ciudad y los que en ella habitan.

17 F or behold, I send among you serpents, vipers against which there is no charm, and they shall bite you, saith Jehovah.

Porque he aquí, yo envío contra vosotros serpientes, áspides contra los cuales no hay encantamiento, y os morderán —declara el Señor. Lamento sobre Sion

18 M y comfort in my sadness! my heart is faint in me!

Mi tristeza no tiene remedio, mi corazón desfallece en mí.

19 B ehold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people, from a very far country: Is not Jehovah in Zion? Is not her king in her? Why have they provoked me to anger with their graven images, with foreign vanities?

He aquí la voz del clamor de la hija de mi pueblo desde una tierra lejana: ¿No está el Señor en Sion? ¿No está su rey en ella? ¿Por qué me han provocado con sus imágenes talladas, con ídolos extranjeros ?

20 T he harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.

Pasó la siega, terminó el verano, y nosotros no hemos sido salvados.

21 — For the breach of the daughter of my people am I crushed; I go mourning; astonishment hath taken hold of me.

Por el quebrantamiento de la hija de mi pueblo estoy quebrantado; ando enlutado, el espanto se ha apoderado de mí.

22 I s there no balm in Gilead? is there no physician there? Why then is there no dressing applied for the healing of the daughter of my people?

¿No hay bálsamo en Galaad ? ¿No hay allí médico? ¿Por qué, pues, no se ha restablecido la salud de la hija de mi pueblo ?
