1 A nd when the day of Pentecost was now accomplishing, they were all together in one place.

2 A nd there came suddenly a sound out of heaven as of a violent impetuous blowing, and filled all the house where they were sitting.

3 A nd there appeared to them parted tongues, as of fire, and it sat upon each one of them.

y se les aparecieron lenguas como de fuego que, repartiéndose, se posaron sobre cada uno de ellos.

4 A nd they were all filled with Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave to them to speak forth.

Todos fueron llenos del Espíritu Santo y comenzaron a hablar en otras lenguas, según el Espíritu les daba habilidad para expresarse.

5 N ow there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, pious men, from every nation of those under heaven.

Y había judíos que moraban en Jerusalén, hombres piadosos, procedentes de todas las naciones bajo el cielo.

6 B ut the rumour of this having spread, the multitude came together and were confounded, because each one heard them speaking in his own dialect.

Y al ocurrir este estruendo, la multitud se juntó; y estaban desconcertados porque cada uno los oía hablar en su propia lengua.

7 A nd all were amazed and wondered, saying, Behold, are not all these who are speaking Galilaeans?

Y estaban asombrados y se maravillaban, diciendo: Mirad, ¿no son galileos todos estos que están hablando?

8 a nd how do we hear each in our own dialect in which we have been born,

¿Cómo es que cada uno de nosotros los oímos hablar en nuestra lengua en la que hemos nacido?

9 P arthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and those who inhabit Mesopotamia, and Judaea, and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,

Partos, medos y elamitas, habitantes de Mesopotamia, de Judea y de Capadocia, del Ponto y de Asia,

10 b oth Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt, and the parts of Libya which adjoin Cyrene, and the Romans sojourning, both Jews and proselytes,

de Frigia y de Panfilia, de Egipto y de las regiones de Libia alrededor de Cirene, viajeros de Roma, tanto judíos como prosélitos,

11 C retans and Arabians, we hear them speaking in our own tongues the great things of God?

cretenses y árabes, les oímos hablar en nuestros idiomas de las maravillas de Dios.

12 A nd they were all amazed and in perplexity, saying one to another, What would this mean?

Todos estaban asombrados y perplejos, diciéndose unos a otros: ¿Qué quiere decir esto?

13 B ut others mocking said, They are full of new wine.

Pero otros se burlaban y decían: Están borrachos. Primer sermón de Pedro

14 B ut Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice and spoke forth to them, Men of Judaea, and all ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give heed to my words:

Entonces Pedro, poniéndose en pie con los once, alzó la voz y les declaró: Varones judíos y todos los que vivís en Jerusalén, sea esto de vuestro conocimiento y prestad atención a mis palabras,

15 f or these are not full of wine, as ye suppose, for it is the third hour of the day;

porque éstos no están borrachos como vosotros suponéis, pues apenas es la hora tercera del día;

16 b ut this is that which was spoken through the prophet Joel,

sino que esto es lo que fue dicho por medio del profeta Joel:

17 A nd it shall be in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your elders shall dream with dreams;

Y sucedera en los ultimos dias —dice Dios— que derramare de mi Espiritu sobre toda carne; y vuestros hijos y vuestras hijas profetizaran, vuestros jovenes veran visiones, y vuestros ancianos soñaran sueños;

18 y ea, even upon my bondmen and upon my bondwomen in those days will I pour out of my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.

y aun sobre mis siervos y sobre mis siervas derramare de mi Espiritu en esos dias, y profetizarán.

19 A nd I will give wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

Y mostrare prodigios arriba en el cielo y señales abajo en la tierra: sangre, fuego y columna de humo.

20 t he sun shall be changed to darkness and the moon to blood, before the great and gloriously appearing day of Lord come.

El sol se convertira en tinieblas y la luna en sangre, antes que venga el dia grande y glorioso del Señor.

21 A nd it shall be that whosoever shall call upon the name of Lord shall be saved.

Y sucedera que todo aquel que invoque el nombre del Señor sera salvo.

22 M en of Israel, hear these words: Jesus the Nazaraean, a man borne witness to by God to you by works of power and wonders and signs, which God wrought by him in your midst, as yourselves know

Varones israelitas, escuchad estas palabras: Jesús el Nazareno, varón confirmado por Dios entre vosotros con milagros, prodigios y señales que Dios hizo en medio vuestro a través de El, tal como vosotros mismos sabéis,

23 — him, given up by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye, by hand of lawless, have crucified and slain.

a éste, entregado por el plan predeterminado y el previo conocimiento de Dios, clavasteis en una cruz por manos de impíos y le matasteis,

24 W hom God has raised up, having loosed the pains of death, inasmuch as it was not possible that he should be held by its power;

a quien Dios resucitó, poniendo fin a la agonía de la muerte, puesto que no era posible que El quedara bajo el dominio de ella.

25 f or David says as to him, I foresaw the Lord continually before me, because he is at my right hand that I may not be moved.

Porque David dice de El: Veia siempre al Señor en mi presencia; pues esta a mi diestra para que yo no sea conmovido.

26 T herefore has my heart rejoiced and my tongue exulted; yea more, my flesh also shall dwell in hope,

Por lo cual mi corazon se alegro y mi lengua se regocijo; y aun hasta mi carne descansara en esperanza;

27 f or thou wilt not leave my soul in hades, nor wilt thou give thy gracious one to see corruption.

pues tu no abandonaras mi alma en el Hades, ni permitiras que tu Santo vea corrupcion.

28 T hou hast made known to me paths of life, thou wilt fill me with joy with thy countenance.

Me has hecho conocer los caminos de la vida; me llenaras de gozo con tu presencia.

29 B rethren, let it be allowed to speak with freedom to you concerning the patriarch David, that he has both died and been buried, and his monument is amongst us unto this day.

Hermanos, del patriarca David os puedo decir confiadamente que murió y fue sepultado, y su sepulcro está entre nosotros hasta el día de hoy.

30 B eing therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn to him with an oath, of the fruit of his loins to set upon his throne;

Pero siendo profeta, y sabiendo que Dios le habia jurado sentar a uno de sus descendientes en su trono,

31 h e, seeing before, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that neither has he been left in hades nor his flesh seen corruption.

miró hacia el futuro y habló de la resurrección de Cristo, que no fue abandonado en el Hades, ni su carne sufrio corrupcion.

32 T his Jesus has God raised up, whereof all we are witnesses.

A este Jesús resucitó Dios, de lo cual todos nosotros somos testigos.

33 H aving therefore been exalted by the right hand of God, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this which ye behold and hear.

Así que, exaltado a la diestra de Dios, y habiendo recibido del Padre la promesa del Espíritu Santo, ha derramado esto que vosotros veis y oís.

34 F or David has not ascended into the heavens, but he says himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit at my right hand

Porque David no ascendió a los cielos, pero él mismo dice: Dijo el Señor a mi Señor: “ Sientate a mi diestra,

35 u ntil I have put thine enemies the footstool of thy feet.

hasta que ponga a tus enemigos por estrado de tus pies.”

36 L et the whole house of Israel therefore know assuredly that God has made him, this Jesus whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

Sepa, pues, con certeza toda la casa de Israel, que a este Jesús a quien vosotros crucificasteis, Dios le ha hecho Señor y Cristo. Efectos del sermón de Pedro

37 A nd having heard they were pricked in heart, and said to Peter and the other apostles, What shall we do, brethren?

Al oír esto, compungidos de corazón, dijeron a Pedro y a los demás apóstoles: Hermanos, ¿qué haremos ?

38 A nd Peter said to them, Repent, and be baptised, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for remission of sins, and ye will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Y Pedro les dijo: Arrepentíos y sed bautizados cada uno de vosotros en el nombre de Jesucristo para perdón de vuestros pecados, y recibiréis el don del Espíritu Santo.

39 F or to you is the promise and to your children, and to all who afar off, as many as Lord our God may call.

Porque la promesa es para vosotros y para vuestros hijos y para todos los que están lejos, para tantos como el Señor nuestro Dios llame.

40 A nd with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, Be saved from this perverse generation.

Y con muchas otras palabras testificaba solemnemente y les exhortaba diciendo: Sed salvos de esta perversa generación.

41 T hose then who had accepted his word were baptised; and there were added in that day about three thousand souls.

Entonces los que habían recibido su palabra fueron bautizados; y se añadieron aquel día como tres mil almas.

42 A nd they persevered in the teaching and fellowship of the apostles, in breaking of bread and prayers.

Y se dedicaban continuamente a las enseñanzas de los apóstoles, a la comunión, al partimiento del pan y a la oración. Comunión de los creyentes

43 A nd fear was upon every soul, and many wonders and signs took place through the apostles' means.

Sobrevino temor a toda persona; y muchos prodigios y señales eran hechas por los apóstoles.

44 A nd all that believed were together, and had all things common,

Todos los que habían creído estaban juntos y tenían todas las cosas en común;

45 a nd sold their possessions and substance, and distributed them to all, according as any one might have need.

vendían todas sus propiedades y sus bienes y los compartían con todos, según la necesidad de cada uno.

46 A nd every day, being constantly in the temple with one accord, and breaking bread in house, they received their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,

Día tras día continuaban unánimes en el templo y partiendo el pan en los hogares, comían juntos con alegría y sencillez de corazón,

47 p raising God, and having favour with all the people; and the Lord added daily those that were to be saved.

alabando a Dios y hallando favor con todo el pueblo. Y el Señor añadía cada día al número de ellos los que iban siendo salvos.
