1 G ive ear, ye heavens, and I will speak; And hear, O earth, the words of my mouth!

Prestad atención, oh cielos, y dejadme hablar; y escuche la tierra las palabras de mi boca.

2 M y doctrine shall drop as rain, My speech flow down as dew, As small rain upon the tender herb, And as showers on the grass.

Caiga como la lluvia mi enseñanza, y destile como el rocío mi discurso, como llovizna sobre el verde prado y como aguacero sobre la hierba.

3 F or the name of Jehovah will I proclaim: Ascribe greatness unto our God!

Porque yo proclamo el nombre del Señor; atribuid grandeza a nuestro Dios.

4 t he Rock, his work is perfect, For all his ways are righteousness; A God of faithfulness without deceit, Just and right is he.

¡La Roca! Su obra es perfecta, porque todos sus caminos son justos; Dios de fidelidad y sin injusticia, justo y recto es El.

5 T hey have dealt corruptly with him; Not his children's is their spot:—A crooked and perverted generation!

En forma corrompida se han portado con El. No son sus hijos, debido a los defectos de ellos; son una generación perversa y torcida.

6 D o ye thus requite Jehovah, Foolish and unwise people? Is not he thy father that hath bought thee? Hath he not made thee and established thee?

¿Así pagáis al Señor, oh pueblo insensato e ignorante ? ¿No es El tu padre que te compró ? El te hizo y te estableció.

7 R emember the days of old, Consider the years of generation to generation; Ask thy father, and he will shew thee; Thine elders, and they will tell thee.

Acuérdate de los días de antaño; considera los años de todas las generaciones. Pregunta a tu padre, y él te lo hará saber; a tus ancianos, y ellos te lo dirán.

8 W hen the Most High assigned to the nations their inheritance, When he separated the sons of Adam, He set the bounds of the peoples According to the number of the children of Israel.

Cuando el Altísimo dio a las naciones su herencia, cuando separó los hijos del hombre, fijó los límites de los pueblos según el número de los hijos de Israel.

9 F or Jehovah's portion is his people; Jacob the lot of his inheritance.

Pues la porción del Señor es su pueblo; Jacob es la parte de su heredad.

10 H e found him in a desert land, And in the waste, howling wilderness; He compassed him about, he watched over him, He preserved him as the apple of his eye.

Lo encontró en tierra desierta, en la horrenda soledad de un desierto; lo rodeó, cuidó de él, lo guardó como a la niña de sus ojos.

11 A s the eagle stirreth up its nest, Hovereth over its young, Spreadeth out its wings, Taketh them, beareth them on its feathers,

Como un águila que despierta su nidada, que revolotea sobre sus polluelos, extendió sus alas y los tomó, los llevó sobre su plumaje.

12 S o Jehovah alone did lead him, And no strange god with him.

El Señor solo lo guió, y con él no hubo dios extranjero.

13 H e made him ride on the high places of the earth, And he ate the produce of the field; And he made him suck honey out of the crag, And oil out of the flinty rock;

Lo hizo cabalgar sobre las alturas de la tierra, y comió el producto del campo; le hizo gustar miel de la peña, y aceite del pedernal,

14 C ream of kine, and milk of sheep, With the fat of lambs, And rams of the breed of Bashan, and he-goats, With the fat of kidneys of wheat; And thou didst drink pure wine, the blood of the grape.

cuajada de vacas y leche de ovejas, con grosura de corderos, y carneros de raza de Basán y machos cabríos, con lo mejor del trigo; y de la sangre de uvas bebiste vino.

15 T hen Jeshurun grew fat, and kicked—Thou art waxen fat, Thou art grown thick, And thou art covered with fatness;—He gave up +God who made him, And lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.

Pero Jesurún engordó y dio coces (has engordado, estás cebado y rollizo ); entonces abandonó a Dios que lo hizo, y menospreció a la Roca de su salvación.

16 T hey moved him to jealousy with strange gods, With abominations did they provoke him to anger.

Le provocaron a celos con dioses extraños, con abominaciones le provocaron a ira.

17 T hey sacrificed unto demons who are not +God; To gods whom they knew not, To new ones, who came newly up, Whom your fathers revered not.

Ofrecieron sacrificios a demonios, no a Dios, a dioses que no habían conocido, dioses nuevos que vinieron recientemente, a los que vuestros padres no temieron.

18 O f the Rock that begot thee wast thou unmindful, And thou hast forgotten God who brought thee forth.

Despreciaste a la Roca que te engendró, y olvidaste al Dios que te dio a luz.

19 A nd Jehovah saw it, and despised them, Because of the provoking of his sons and of his daughters.

Y el Señor vio esto, y se llenó de ira a causa de la provocación de sus hijos y de sus hijas.

20 A nd he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be; For they are a perverse generation, Children in whom is no faithfulness.

Entonces El dijo: “Esconderé de ellos mi rostro, veré cuál será su fin; porque son una generación perversa, hijos en los cuales no hay fidelidad.

21 T hey have moved me to jealousy with that which is no God; They have exasperated me with their vanities; And I will move them to jealousy with that which is not a people; With a foolish nation will I provoke them to anger.

“Ellos me han provocado a celo con lo que no es Dios; me han irritado con sus ídolos. Yo, pues, los provocaré a celos con los que no son un pueblo; los irritaré con una nación insensata,

22 F or a fire is kindled in mine anger, And it shall burn into the lowest Sheol, And shall consume the earth and its produce, And set fire to the foundations of the mountains.

porque fuego se ha encendido en mi ira, que quema hasta las profundidades del Seol, consume la tierra con su fruto, e incendia los fundamentos de los montes.

23 I will heap mischiefs upon them; Mine arrows will I spend against them.

“Amontonaré calamidades sobre ellos, emplearé en ellos mis saetas.

24 T hey shall be consumed with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, And with poisonous pestilence; And the teeth of beasts will I send against them, With the poison of what crawleth in the dust.

“ Serán debilitados por el hambre, y consumidos por la plaga y destrucción amarga; dientes de fieras enviaré sobre ellos, con veneno de serpientes que se arrastran en el polvo.

25 F rom without shall the sword bereave them, and in the chambers, terror—Both the young man and the virgin, The suckling with the man of gray hairs.

“Afuera traerá duelo la espada, y dentro el terror, tanto al joven como a la virgen, al niño de pecho como al hombre encanecido.

26 I would say, I will scatter, I will make the remembrance of them to cease from among men,

“Yo hubiera dicho: ‘Los haré pedazos, borraré la memoria de ellos de entre los hombres ’,

27 I f I did not fear provocation from the enemy, Lest their adversaries should misunderstand it, Lest they should say, Our hand is high, and Jehovah has not done all this.

si no hubiera temido la provocación del enemigo, no sea que entendieran mal sus adversarios, no sea que dijeran: ‘Nuestra mano ha triunfado, y no es el Señor el que ha hecho todo esto.’”

28 F or they are a nation void of counsel, And understanding is not in them.

Porque son una nación privada de consejo, y no hay en ellos inteligencia.

29 O h that they had been wise! they would have understood this, They would have considered their latter end!

Ojalá que fueran sabios, que comprendieran esto, que discernieran su futuro.

30 H ow could one chase a thousand, And two put ten thousand to flight, Were it not that their Rock had sold them, And Jehovah had delivered them up?

¿Cómo es que uno puede perseguir a mil, y dos hacer huir a diez mil, si su Roca no los hubiera vendido, y el Señor no los hubiera entregado?

31 F or their rock is not as our Rock: Let our enemies themselves be judges.

En verdad, su roca no es como nuestra Roca; aun nuestros mismos enemigos así lo juzgan.

32 F or their vine is of the vine of Sodom, And of the fields of Gomorrah: Their grapes are grapes of poison, Bitter are their clusters;

Porque la vid de ellos es de la vid de Sodoma y de los campos de Gomorra; sus uvas son uvas venenosas, sus racimos, amargos.

33 T heir wine is the poison of dragons, And the cruel venom of vipers.

Su vino es veneno de serpientes, y ponzoña mortal de cobras.

34 I s not this hidden with me, Sealed up among my treasures?

“¿No tengo yo esto guardado conmigo, sellado en mis tesoros ?

35 V engeance is mine, and recompense, For the time when their foot shall slip. For the day of their calamity is at hand, And the things that shall come upon them make haste.

“Mía es la venganza y la retribución; a su tiempo el pie de ellos resbalará, porque el día de su calamidad está cerca, ya se apresura lo que les está preparado.”

36 F or Jehovah will judge his people, And shall repent in favour of his servants; When he seeth that power is gone, And there is none shut up or left.

Porque el Señor vindicará a su pueblo y tendrá compasión de sus siervos, cuando vea que su fuerza se ha ido, y que nadie queda, ni siervo ni libre.

37 A nd he shall say, Where are their gods, Their rock in whom they trusted,

Dirá El entonces: “¿Dónde están sus dioses, la roca en que buscaban refugio,

38 W ho ate the fat of their sacrifices, drank the wine of their drink-offering? Let them rise up and help you, That there may be a protection over you.

los que comían la grosura de sus sacrificios, y bebían el vino de su libación ? ¡Que se levanten y os ayuden! ¡Que sean ellos vuestro refugio!

39 S ee now that I, I am HE, And there is no god with me; I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal, And there is none that delivereth out of my hand,

“Ved ahora que yo, yo soy el Señor, y fuera de mí no hay dios. Yo hago morir y hago vivir. Yo hiero y yo sano, y no hay quien pueda librar de mi mano.

40 F or I lift up my hand to the heavens, and say, I live for ever!

“Ciertamente, alzo a los cielos mi mano, y digo: Como que vivo yo para siempre,

41 I f I have sharpened my gleaming sword, And my hand take hold of judgment, I will render vengeance to mine adversaries, And will recompense them that hate me.

cuando afile mi espada flameante y mi mano empuñe la justicia, me vengaré de mis adversarios y daré el pago a los que me aborrecen.

42 M ine arrows will I make drunk with blood, And my sword shall devour flesh; with the blood of the slain and of the captives, With the head of the princes of the enemy.

“Embriagaré mis saetas con sangre, y mi espada se hartará de carne, de sangre de muertos y cautivos, de los jefes de larga cabellera del enemigo.”

43 S hout for joy, ye nations, with his people, For he avengeth the blood of his servants, And rendereth vengeance to his enemies, And maketh atonement for his land, for his people.

Regocijaos, naciones, con su pueblo, porque El vengará la sangre de sus siervos; traerá venganza sobre sus adversarios, y hará expiación por su tierra y su pueblo. Se ordena a Moisés subir al monte Nebo

44 A nd Moses came and spoke all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he and Hoshea the son of Nun.

Entonces llegó Moisés y habló todas las palabras de este cántico a oídos del pueblo, él, con Josué, hijo de Nun.

45 A nd when Moses had ended speaking all these words to all Israel,

Cuando terminó Moisés de hablar todas estas palabras a todo Israel,

46 h e said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words that I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to take heed to do, all the words of this law.

les dijo: Fijad en vuestro corazón todas las palabras con que os advierto hoy, las cuales ordenaréis a vuestros hijos que las obedezcan cuidadosamente, todas las palabras de esta ley.

47 F or it is no vain word for you, but it is your life, and through this word ye shall prolong your days on the land whereunto ye pass over the Jordan to possess it.

Porque no es palabra inútil para vosotros; ciertamente es vuestra vida. Por esta palabra prolongaréis vuestros días en la tierra adonde vosotros vais, cruzando el Jordán a fin de poseerla.

48 A nd Jehovah spoke to Moses that same day, saying,

En aquel mismo día, habló el Señor a Moisés, diciendo:

49 G o up into this mountain Abarim, mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, which is opposite Jericho; and behold the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel for a possession,

Sube a estos montes de Abarim, al monte Nebo, que está en la tierra de Moab frente a Jericó, y mira hacia la tierra de Canaán, la cual doy a los hijos de Israel en posesión.

50 a nd die on the mountain whither thou goest up, and be gathered unto thy peoples, as Aaron thy brother died on mount Hor, and was gathered unto his peoples;

Morirás en el monte al cual subes, y serás reunido a tu pueblo, así como murió tu hermano Aarón sobre el monte Hor, y fue reunido a su pueblo;

51 b ecause ye trespassed against me among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah-Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin; because ye hallowed me not in the midst of the children of Israel.

porque me fuisteis infieles en medio de los hijos de Israel en las aguas de Meriba de Cades, en el desierto de Zin, porque no me santificasteis en medio de los hijos de Israel.

52 F or thou shalt see the land before; but thou shalt not go thither unto the land which I give the children of Israel.

Por tanto, sólo de lejos verás la tierra, pero allí no entrarás, a la tierra que doy a los hijos de Israel.
