1 A nd these are the commandments, the statutes, and the ordinances, which Jehovah your God commanded to teach you, that ye may do them in the land whereunto ye pass over to possess it,

Estos, pues, son los mandamientos, los estatutos y los decretos que el Señor vuestro Dios me ha mandado que os enseñe, para que los cumpláis en la tierra que vais a poseer,

2 t hat thou mayest fear Jehovah thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.

para que temas al Señor tu Dios, guardando todos sus estatutos y sus mandamientos que yo te ordeno, tú y tus hijos y tus nietos, todos los días de tu vida, para que tus días sean prolongados.

3 A nd thou shalt hear, Israel, and take heed to do; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase greatly, as Jehovah the God of thy fathers hath said unto thee, in a land flowing with milk and honey.

Escucha, pues, oh Israel, y cuida de hacer lo, para que te vaya bien y te multipliques en gran manera, en una tierra que mana leche y miel, tal como el Señor, el Dios de tus padres, te ha prometido.

4 H ear, Israel: Jehovah our God is one Jehovah;

Escucha, oh Israel, el Señor es nuestro Dios, el Señor uno es.

5 a nd thou shalt love Jehovah thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength.

Amarás al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma y con toda tu fuerza.

6 A nd these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thy heart;

Y estas palabras que yo te mando hoy, estarán sobre tu corazón;

7 a nd thou shalt impress them on thy sons, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou goest on the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

y diligentemente las enseñarás a tus hijos, y hablarás de ellas cuando te sientes en tu casa y cuando andes por el camino, cuando te acuestes y cuando te levantes.

8 A nd thou shalt bind them for a sign on thy hand, and they shall be for frontlets between thine eyes.

Y las atarás como una señal a tu mano, y serán por insignias entre tus ojos.

9 A nd thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and upon thy gates.

Y las escribirás en los postes de tu casa y en tus puertas.

10 A nd it shall be, when Jehovah thy God bringeth thee into the land which he swore unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee: great and good cities which thou buildedst not,

Y sucederá que cuando el Señor tu Dios te traiga a la tierra que juró a tus padres Abraham, Isaac y Jacob que te daría, una tierra con grandes y espléndidas ciudades que tú no edificaste,

11 a nd houses full of everything good which thou filledst not, and wells digged which thou diggedst not, vineyards and oliveyards which thou plantedst not, and thou shalt have eaten and shalt be full;

y casas llenas de toda buena cosa que tú no llenaste, y cisternas cavadas que tú no cavaste, viñas y olivos que tú no plantaste, y comas y te sacies;

12 b eware lest thou forget Jehovah who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

entonces ten cuidado, no sea que te olvides del Señor que te sacó de la tierra de Egipto, de la casa de servidumbre.

13 T hou shalt fear Jehovah thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.

Temerás sólo al Señor tu Dios; y a El adorarás, y jurarás por su nombre.

14 Y e shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the peoples that are round about you;

No seguiréis a otros dioses, a ninguno de los dioses de los pueblos que os rodean,

15 f or Jehovah thy God is a jealous God in thy midst; lest the anger of Jehovah thy God be kindled against thee, and he destroy thee from the face of the earth.

porque el Señor tu Dios, que está en medio de ti, es Dios celoso, no sea que se encienda la ira del Señor tu Dios contra ti, y El te borre de la faz de la tierra.

16 Y e shall not tempt Jehovah your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.

No tentaréis al Señor vuestro Dios, como le tentasteis en Masah.

17 Y e shall diligently keep the commandments of Jehovah your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.

Debéis guardar diligentemente los mandamientos del Señor vuestro Dios, y sus testimonios y estatutos que te ha mandado.

18 A nd thou shalt do what is right and good in the sight of Jehovah, that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest enter in and possess the good land which Jehovah swore unto thy fathers,

Y harás lo que es justo y bueno a los ojos del Señor, para que te vaya bien, y para que entres y tomes posesión de la buena tierra que el Señor juró que daría a tus padres,

19 t hrusting out all thine enemies from before thee, as Jehovah hath spoken.

echando fuera a todos tus enemigos de delante de ti, como el Señor ha dicho.

20 W hen thy son shall ask thee in time to come, saying, What are the testimonies, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which Jehovah our God hath commanded you?

Cuando en el futuro tu hijo te pregunte, diciendo: “¿Qué significan los testimonios y los estatutos y los decretos que el Señor nuestro Dios os ha mandado?”,

21 t hen thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh's bondmen in Egypt; and Jehovah brought us out of Egypt with a powerful hand;

entonces dirás a tu hijo: “Eramos esclavos de Faraón en Egipto, y el Señor nos sacó de Egipto con mano fuerte.

22 a nd Jehovah shewed signs and wonders, great and grievous, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household, before our eyes;

“Además, el Señor hizo grandes y temibles señales y maravillas delante de nuestros ojos contra Egipto, contra Faraón y contra toda su casa;

23 a nd he brought us out thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he swore unto our fathers.

y nos sacó de allí para traernos y darnos la tierra que El había jurado dar a nuestros padres.”

24 A nd Jehovah commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear Jehovah our God, for our good continually, that he might preserve us alive, as it is this day.

Y el Señor nos mandó que observáramos todos estos estatutos, y que temiéramos siempre al Señor nuestro Dios para nuestro bien y para preservarnos la vida, como hasta hoy.

25 A nd it shall be our righteousness if we take heed to do all these commandments before Jehovah our God, as he hath commanded us.

Y habrá justicia para nosotros si cuidamos de observar todos estos mandamientos delante del Señor nuestro Dios, tal como El nos ha mandado.
