1 A nd these are the commandments, the statutes, and the ordinances, which Jehovah your God commanded to teach you, that ye may do them in the land whereunto ye pass over to possess it,

Iată poruncile, legile şi rînduielile pe cari a poruncit Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, să vă învăţ să le împliniţi în ţara pe care o veţi lua în stăpînire;

2 t hat thou mayest fear Jehovah thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.

ca să te temi de Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, păzind, în toate zilele vieţii tale, tu, fiul tău, şi fiul fiului tău, toate legile şi toate poruncile Lui pe cari ţi le dau, şi să ai zile multe.

3 A nd thou shalt hear, Israel, and take heed to do; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase greatly, as Jehovah the God of thy fathers hath said unto thee, in a land flowing with milk and honey.

Ascultă-le dar, Israele, şi caută să le împlineşti, ca să fii fericit şi să vă înmulţiţi mult, cum ţi -a spus Domnul, Dumnezeul părinţilor tăi, cînd ţi -a făgăduit ţara în care curge lapte şi miere.

4 H ear, Israel: Jehovah our God is one Jehovah;

Ascultă, Israele! Domnul, Dumnezeul nostru, este singurul Domn.

5 a nd thou shalt love Jehovah thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength.

Să iubeşti pe Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, cu toată inima ta, cu tot sufletul tău şi cu toată puterea ta.

6 A nd these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thy heart;

Şi poruncile acestea, pe cari ţi le dau astăzi, să le ai în inima ta.

7 a nd thou shalt impress them on thy sons, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou goest on the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Să le întipăreşti în mintea copiilor tăi, şi să vorbeşti de ele cînd vei fi acasă, cînd vei pleca în călătorie, cînd te vei culca şi cînd te vei scula.

8 A nd thou shalt bind them for a sign on thy hand, and they shall be for frontlets between thine eyes.

Să le legi ca un semn de aducere aminte la mîni, şi să-ţi fie ca nişte fruntarii între ochi.

9 A nd thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and upon thy gates.

Să le scrii pe uşiorii casei tale şi pe porţile tale.

10 A nd it shall be, when Jehovah thy God bringeth thee into the land which he swore unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee: great and good cities which thou buildedst not,

Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, te va face să intri în ţara pe care a jurat părinţilor tăi, lui Avraam, lui Isaac şi lui Iacov, că ţi -o va da. Vei stăpîni cetăţi mari şi bune pe cari nu tu le-ai zidit,

11 a nd houses full of everything good which thou filledst not, and wells digged which thou diggedst not, vineyards and oliveyards which thou plantedst not, and thou shalt have eaten and shalt be full;

case pline de tot felul de bunuri pe cari nu tu le-ai umplut, puţuri de apă săpate pe cari nu tu le-ai săpat, vii şi măslini pe cari nu tu i-ai sădit. Cînd vei mînca şi te vei sătura,

12 b eware lest thou forget Jehovah who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

vezi să nu uiţi pe Domnul, care te -a scos din ţara Egiptului, din casa robiei.

13 T hou shalt fear Jehovah thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.

Să te temi de Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, să -I slujeşti, şi pe Numele Lui să juri.

14 Y e shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the peoples that are round about you;

Să nu vă duceţi după alţi dumnezei, dintre dumnezeii popoarelor din jurul vostru;

15 f or Jehovah thy God is a jealous God in thy midst; lest the anger of Jehovah thy God be kindled against thee, and he destroy thee from the face of the earth.

căci Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, este un Dumnezeu gelos în mijlocul tău. Altfel, Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, S'ar aprinde de mînie împotriva ta, şi te-ar nimici de pe faţa pămîntului.

16 Y e shall not tempt Jehovah your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.

Să nu ispitiţi pe Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, cum L-aţi ispitit la Masa.

17 Y e shall diligently keep the commandments of Jehovah your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.

Ci să păziţi poruncile Domnului, Dumnezeului vostru, poruncile Lui şi legile lui pe cari vi le -a dat.

18 A nd thou shalt do what is right and good in the sight of Jehovah, that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest enter in and possess the good land which Jehovah swore unto thy fathers,

Să faci ce este plăcut şi bine înaintea Domnului, ca să fii fericit, şi să intri în stăpînirea ţării aceleia bune, pe care Domnul a jurat părinţilor tăi că ţi -o va da,

19 t hrusting out all thine enemies from before thee, as Jehovah hath spoken.

după ce va izgoni pe toţi vrăjmaşii tăi dinaintea ta, cum a spus Domnul.

20 W hen thy son shall ask thee in time to come, saying, What are the testimonies, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which Jehovah our God hath commanded you?

Cînd fiul tău te va întreba într -o zi:,, Ce însemnează învăţăturile acestea, legile acestea şi poruncile acestea, pe cari vi le -a dat Domnul, Dumnezeul nostru?``

21 t hen thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh's bondmen in Egypt; and Jehovah brought us out of Egypt with a powerful hand;

să răspunzi fiului tău:,, Noi eram robi ai lui Faraon în Egipt, şi Domnul ne -a scos din Egipt cu mîna Lui cea puternică.

22 a nd Jehovah shewed signs and wonders, great and grievous, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household, before our eyes;

Domnul a făcut, subt ochii noştri, minuni şi semne mari şi nenorocite împotriva Egiptului, împotriva lui Faraon şi împotriva întregei lui case;

23 a nd he brought us out thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he swore unto our fathers.

şi ne -a scos de acolo, ca să ne aducă în ţara pe care jurase părinţilor noştri că ne -o va da.

24 A nd Jehovah commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear Jehovah our God, for our good continually, that he might preserve us alive, as it is this day.

Domnul ne -a poruncit atunci să împlinim toate aceste legi şi să ne temem de Domnul, Dumnezeul nostru, ca să fim totdeauna fericiţi, şi să ne ţină în viaţă, cum face astăzi.

25 A nd it shall be our righteousness if we take heed to do all these commandments before Jehovah our God, as he hath commanded us.

Vom avea parte de îndurarea Lui, dacă vom împlini cu scumpătate toate aceste porunci înaintea Domnului, Dumnezeului nostru, cum ne -a poruncit El.``
