1 Y e shall make yourselves no idols, neither rear you up for yourselves carved image, or statue, nor shall ye set up a figured stone in your land, to bow down unto it; for I am Jehovah your God.

Să nu vă faceţi idoli, să nu vă ridicaţi nici chip cioplit, nici stîlp de aducere aminte; să nu puneţi în ţara voastră nici o piatră împodobită cu chipuri, ca să vă închinaţi înaintea ei; căci Eu sînt Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru.

2 Y e shall observe my sabbaths, and my sanctuary shall ye reverence: I am Jehovah.

Să păziţi Sabatele Mele, şi să cinstiţi locaşul Meu cel sfînt. Eu sînt Domnul.

3 I f ye walk in my statutes, and observe my commandments and do them,

Dacă veţi urma legile Mele, dacă veţi păzi poruncile Mele şi le veţi împlini,

4 t hen I will give your rain in the season thereof, and the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit;

vă voi trimete ploi la vreme, pămîntul îşi va da roadele, şi pomii de pe cîmp îşi vor da rodurile.

5 a nd your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing-time; and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land securely.

Abea veţi treiera grîul, şi veţi începe culesul viei, şi culesul viei va ţinea pînă la sămănătură; veţi avea pîne din belşug, veţi mînca şi vă veţi sătura şi veţi locui fără frică în ţara voastră.

6 A nd I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid; and I will put away the evil beasts out of the land; and the sword shall not go through your land.

Voi da pace în ţară, şi nimeni nu vă va turbura somnul; voi face să piară din ţară fiarele sălbatice, şi sabia nu va trece prin ţara voastră.

7 A nd ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword;

Veţi urmări pe vrăjmaşii voştri, şi ei vor cădea ucişi de sabie înaintea voastră.

8 a nd five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; and your enemies shall fall beside you by the sword.

Cinci din voi vor urmări o sută, şi o sută din voi vor urmări zece mii, şi vrăjmaşii voştri vor cădea ucişi de sabie înaintea voastră.

9 A nd I will turn my face towards you and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you.

Eu Mă voi întoarce spre voi, vă voi face să creşteţi, vă voi înmulţi, şi Îmi voi ţinea legămîntul Meu cu voi.

10 A nd ye shall eat old store, and clear away the old because of the new.

Veţi mînca din roadele cele vechi, şi veţi scoate afară pe cele vechi, ca să faceţi loc celor noi.

11 A nd I will set my habitation among you; and my soul shall not abhor you;

Îmi voi aşeza locaşul Meu în mijlocul vostru, şi sufletul Meu nu vă va urî.

12 a nd I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be to me a people.

Voi umbla în mijlocul vostru; Eu voi fi Dumnezeul vostru, şi voi veţi fi poporul Meu.

13 I am Jehovah your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you walk upright.

Eu sînt Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, care v'am scos din ţara Egiptului, care v'am scos din robie; Eu am rupt legăturile jugului vostru, şi v'am făcut să mergeţi cu capul ridicat.

14 B ut if ye hearken not unto me, and do not all these commandments,

Dar dacă nu Mă ascultaţi şi nu împliniţi toate aceste porunci,

15 a nd if ye shall despise my statutes, and if your soul shall abhor mine ordinances, so that ye do not all my commandments, that ye break my covenant,

dacă nesocotiţi legile Mele, şi dacă sufletul vostru urăşte rînduielile Mele, aşa încît să nu împliniţi toate poruncile Mele şi să rupeţi legămîntul Meu,

16 I also will do this unto you—I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and fever, which shall cause the eyes to fail, and the soul to waste away; and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.

iată ce vă voi face atunci. Voi trimete peste voi groaza, lingoarea şi frigurile, cari vor face să vi se stingă ochii, şi să piară viaţa din voi. Sămînţa o veţi sămăna în zădar, căci o vor mînca vrăjmaşii voştri.

17 A nd I will set my face against you, that ye may be routed before your enemies; they that hate you shall have dominion over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you.

Îmi voi întoarce Faţa împotriva voastră, şi veţi fi bătuţi şi veţi fugi dinaintea vrăjmaşilor voştri; cei ce vă urăsc vă vor subjuga, şi veţi fugi fără să fiţi urmăriţi chiar.

18 A nd if for this ye hearken not unto me, I will punish you sevenfold more for your sins,

Dacă, cu toate acestea, nu Mă veţi asculta, vă voi pedepsi de şapte ori mai mult pentru păcatele voastre.

19 a nd I will break the arrogance of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as bronze,

Voi frînge mîndria puterii voastre, voi face ca deasupra voastră cerul să fie de fier, şi pămîntul de aramă.

20 a nd your strength shall be spent in vain, and your land shall not yield its produce; and the trees of the land shall not yield their fruit.

Vi se va istovi puterea fără folos: pămîntul vostru nu-şi va da roadele, şi pomii de pe pămînt nu-şi vor da rodurile.

21 A nd if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me, I will bring sevenfold more plagues upon you according to your sins.

Dacă şi după aceasta vă veţi împotrivi, şi nu veţi voi să Mă ascultaţi, vă voi lovi de şapte ori mai mult pentru păcatele voastre.

22 A nd I will send the beasts of the field among you, that they may rob you of your children, and cut off your cattle, and make you few in number; and your streets shall be desolate.

Voi trimete împotriva voastră fiarele de pe cîmp, cari vă vor lăsa fără copii, vă vor nimici vitele, şi vă vor împuţina; aşa că vă vor rămînea drumurile pustii.

23 A nd if ye will not be disciplined by me through these, but walk contrary unto me,

Dacă pedepsele acestea nu vă vor îndrepta, şi dacă vă veţi împotrivi Mie,

24 t hen will I also walk contrary unto you, and will smite you, even I, sevenfold for your sins.

Mă voi împotrivi şi Eu vouă, şi vă voi lovi de şapte ori mai mult pentru păcatele voastre.

25 A nd I will bring a sword upon you that avengeth with the vengeance of the covenant, and ye shall be gathered together into your cities, and I will send the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.

Voi face să vină împotriva voastră sabie, care va răsbuna călcarea legămîntului Meu; şi cînd vă veţi strînge în cetăţile voastre, voi trimete ciuma în mijlocul vostru, şi veţi fi daţi în mînile vrăjmaşului.

26 W hen I break the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and shall deliver you the bread again by weight; and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied.

Cînd vă voi trimete lipsă de pîne, zece femei vă vor coace pîne într'un singur cuptor, şi vi se va da pînea cu cîntarul; veţi mînca, dar nu vă veţi sătura.

27 A nd if for this ye hearken not to me, but walk contrary unto me,

Dacă, cu toate acestea, nu Mă veţi asculta, şi dacă vă veţi împotrivi Mie,

28 t hen I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven-fold for your sins.

Mă voi împotrivi şi Eu vouă cu mînie, şi vă voi pedepsi de şapte ori mai mult pentru păcatele voastre.

29 A nd ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.

Veţi mînca pănă şi carnea fiilor voştri, veţi mînca pănă şi carnea fiicelor voastre.

30 A nd I will lay waste your high places, and cut down your sun-pillars, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols; and my soul shall abhor you.

Vă voi nimici înălţimile pentru jertfă, vă voi dărîma stîlpii închinaţi soarelui, voi arunca trupurile voastre moarte peste trupurile moarte ale idolilor voştri, şi sufletul Meu vă va urî.

31 A nd I will lay waste your cities and desolate your sanctuaries; and I will not smell your sweet odours.

Vă voi lăsa cetăţile pustii, vă voi pustii locaşurile sfinte, şi nu voi mai mirosi mirosul plăcut al tămîii voastre.

32 A nd I will bring the land into desolation; that your enemies who dwell there in may be astonished at it.

Voi pustii ţara, aşa că vrăjmaşii voştri cari o vor locui vor rămînea încremeniţi văzînd -o.

33 A nd I will scatter you among the nations, and will draw out the sword after you; and your land shall be desolation, and your cities waste.

Vă voi împrăştia printre neamuri, şi voi scoate sabia după voi. Ţara voastră va fi pustiită, şi cetăţile voastre vor rămînea pustii.

34 T hen shall the land enjoy its sabbaths all the days of the desolation, when ye are in your enemies' land; then shall the land rest, and enjoy its sabbaths.

Atunci ţara se va bucura de Sabatele ei, tot timpul cît va fi pustiită şi cît veţi fi în ţara vrăjmaşilor voştri; atunci ţara se va odihni, şi se va bucura de Sabatele ei.

35 A ll the days of the desolation it shall rest, which it did not rest on your sabbaths, when ye dwelt therein.

Tot timpul cît va fi pustiită, va avea odihna pe care n'o avusese în anii voştri de Sabat, cînd o locuiaţi.

36 A nd as to those that remain of you—I will send faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies, that the sound of a driven leaf shall chase them, and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth;

În inima acelora dintre voi cari vor mai rămînea în viaţă, în ţara vrăjmaşilor lor, voi băga frica; şi îi va urmări pănă şi foşnetul unei frunze suflate de vînt; vor fugi ca de sabie, şi vor cădea fără să fie urmăriţi.

37 a nd they shall stumble one over another, as it were before a sword, when none pursueth; and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies.

Se vor prăvăli unii peste alţii ca înaintea săbiei, fără să fie urmăriţi. Nu veţi putea să staţi în picioare în faţa vrăjmaşilor voştri;

38 A nd ye shall perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up.

veţi pieri printre neamuri, şi vă va mînca ţara vrăjmaşilor voştri.

39 A nd they that remain of you shall waste away through their iniquity in your enemies' lands; and also through the iniquities of their fathers shall they waste away with them.

Iar pe aceia dintre voi cari vor mai rămînea în viaţă, îi va apuca durerea pentru fărădelegile lor, în ţara vrăjmaşilor lor; îi va apuca durerea şi pentru fărădelegile părinţilor lor.

40 A nd they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, through their unfaithfulness wherein they were unfaithful to me, and also that they have walked contrary unto me,

Îşi vor mărturisi fărădelegile lor şi fărădelegile părinţilor lor, călcările de lege pe cari le-au săvîrşit faţă de Mine, şi împotrivirea cu care Mi s'au împotrivit, păcate din pricina cărora

41 s o that I also walked contrary unto them, and brought them into the land of their enemies. If then their uncircumcised heart be humbled, and they then accept the punishment of their iniquity,

şi Eu M'am împotrivit lor, şi i-am adus în ţara vrăjmaşilor lor. Şi atunci inima lor netăiată împrejur se va smeri, şi vor plăti datoria fărădelegilor lor.

42 I will remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.

Atunci Îmi voi aduce aminte de legămîntul Meu cu Iacov, Îmi voi aduce aminte de legămîntul Meu cu Isaac şi de legămîntul Meu cu Avraam, şi Îmi voi aduce aminte de ţară.

43 F or the land shall be left by them, and shall enjoy its sabbaths, when it is in desolation without them; and they shall accept the punishment of their iniquity; because, even because they despised my judgments, and their soul abhorred my statutes.

Ţara însă va trebui să fie părăsită de ei, şi se va bucura de Sabatele ei în timpul cînd va rămînea pustiită departe de ei; şi ei vor plăti datoria fărădelegilor lor, pentrucă au nesocotit poruncile Mele, şi pentrucă sufletul lor a urît legile Mele.

44 A nd yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not despise them, and will not abhor them, to make an end of them utterly, to break my covenant with them, for I am Jehovah their God.

Dar, şi cînd vor fi în ţara vrăjmaşilor lor, nu -i voi lepăda de tot, şi nu -i voi urî pănă acolo încît să -i nimicesc de tot, şi să rup legămîntul Meu cu ei; căci Eu sînt Domnul, Dumnezeul lor.

45 B ut I will remember toward them the covenant with their ancestors whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt before the eyes of the nations, that I might be their God: I am Jehovah.

Ci Îmi voi aduce aminte spre binele lor de vechiul legămînt, prin care i-am scos din ţara Egiptului, în faţa neamurilor, ca să fiu Dumnezeul lor. Eu sînt Domnul.``

46 T hese are the statutes and ordinances and laws which Jehovah made between him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai, by the hand of Moses.

Acestea sînt rînduielile, poruncile şi legile, pe cari le -a statornicit Domnul între El şi copiii lui Israel, pe muntele Sinai, prin Moise.
