1 A t that time, saith Jehovah, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people.

vremea aceea, zice Domnul, Eu voi fi Dumnezeul tuturor seminţiilor lui Israel, şi ei vor fi poporul meu.``

2 T hus saith Jehovah: The people left of the sword have found grace in the wilderness, Israel, when I go to give him rest.

Aşa vorbeşte Domnul:,, Poporul celor ce-au scăpat de sabie, a căpătat trecere în pustie: Israel merge spre locul lui de odihnă.``

3 J ehovah hath appeared from afar unto me, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love; therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn thee.

Domnul mi Se arată de departe:, Te iubesc cu o iubire vecinică; deaceea îţi păstrez bunătatea Mea!

4 I will build thee again, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel! Thou shalt again be adorned with thy tambours, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry.

Te voi aşeza din nou, şi vei fi aşezată din nou, fecioara lui Israel! Te vei împodobi iarăş cu timpanele tale, şi vei ieşi în mijlocul jocurilor voioase.

5 T hou shalt again plant vineyards upon the mountains of Samaria; the planters shall plant, and shall eat the fruit.

Vei sădi iarăş vii pe înălţimile Samariei; ceice le vor sădi, le vor culege şi roadele.

6 F or there shall be a day, when the watchmen upon mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise, and let us go up to Zion, unto Jehovah our God.

Căci vine ziua, cînd străjerii vor striga pe muntele lui Efraim:, Sculaţi-vă, să ne suim în Sion, la Domnul, Dumnezeul nostru!

7 F or thus saith Jehovah: Sing aloud gladness for Jacob, and shout at the head of the nations; publish ye, praise ye, and say, Jehovah, save thy people, the remnant of Israel.

Căci aşa vorbeşte Domnul:, Strigaţi de bucurie asupra lui Iacov, chiuiţi de veselie în fruntea neamurilor! Înălţaţi-vă glasurile, cîntaţi laude, şi ziceţi:, Doamne, izbăveşte pe poporul Tău, pe rămăşiţa lui Israel!``

8 B ehold, I bring them from the north country, and gather them from the uttermost parts of the earth; among them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great assemblage shall they return hither.

Iată, îi aduc înapoi din ţara dela miazănoapte, îi adun dela marginile pămîntului: între ei este şi orbul şi şchiopul, femeia însărcinată şi cea în durerile naşterii; o mare mulţime se întoarce înapoi aici!

9 T hey shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them; I will cause them to walk by water-brooks, in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble; for I will be a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.

Plîngînd vin, şi îi duc în mijlocul rugăciunilor lor; îi duc la rîuri de apă, pe un drum neted pe care nu se poticnesc. Căci Eu sînt Tatăl lui Israel, şi Efraim este întîiul Meu născut.

10 H ear the word of Jehovah, ye nations, and declare to the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd his flock.

Ascultaţi Cuvîntul Domnului, neamuri, şi vestiţi -l în ostroave depărtate! Spuneţi:, Celce a risipit pe Israel îl va aduna, şi -l va păzi cum îşi păzeşte păstorul turma.

11 F or Jehovah hath ransomed Jacob, and redeemed him from the hand of one stronger than he.

Căci Domnul răscumpără pe Iacov, şi -l izbăveşte din mîna unuia mai tare decît el.

12 A nd they shall come and sing aloud upon the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of Jehovah, for corn, and for new wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd; and their soul shall be as a watered garden, and they shall not languish any more at all.

Ei vor veni, şi vor chiui de bucurie pe înălţimile Sionului; vor alerga la bunătăţile Domnului, la grîu, la must, la untuldelemn, la oi şi boi, sufletul le va fi ca o grădină bine udată, şi nu vor mai tînji.

13 T hen shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, and the young men and old together; for I will turn their mourning into gladness, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice after their sorrow.

Atunci fetele se vor veseli la joc, tinerii şi bătrînii se vor bucura şi ei; le voi preface jalea în veselie, şi -i voi mîngîia, le voi da bucurie, după necazurile lor.

14 A nd I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith Jehovah.

Voi sătura de grăsime sufletul preoţilor, şi poporul Meu se va sătura de bunătăţile Mele, zice Domnul.``

15 T hus saith Jehovah: A voice hath been heard in Ramah, the wail of very bitter weeping,—Rachel weeping for her children, refusing to be comforted for her children, because they are not.

Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: Un ţipăt se aude la Rama, plîngeri şi lacrămi amare: Rahela îşi plînge copiii; şi nu vrea să se mîngîie pentru copiii ei, căci nu mai sînt!``

16 T hus saith Jehovah: Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears; for there is a reward for thy work, saith Jehovah; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy.

Aşa vorbeşte Domnul:, Opreşte-ţi plînsul, opreşte-ţi lacrămile din ochi; căci truda îţi va fi răsplătită, zice Domnul; ei se vor întoarce iarăş din ţara vrăjmaşului.

17 A nd there is hope for thy latter end, saith Jehovah, and thy children shall come again to their own border.

Este nădejde pentru urmaşii tăi, zice Domnul; copiii tăi se vor întoarce în ţinutul lor!`

18 I have indeed heard Ephraim bemoaning himself: Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised as a bullock not trained: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art Jehovah my God.

Aud pe Efraim bocindu-se:, M'ai pedepsit, şi am fost pedepsit, ca un junc nedeprins la jug; întoarce-mă Tu, şi mă voi întoarce, căci Tu eşti Domnul, Dumnezeul meu!

19 S urely after that I was turned, I repented; and after I knew myself, I smote upon thigh. I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, for I bear the reproach of my youth.

După ce m'am întors, m'am căit; şi după ce mi-am recunoscut greşelele, mă bat pe pulpă; sînt ruşinat şi roş de ruşine, căci port ocara tinereţei mele.` -

20 I s Ephraim a dear son unto me? is he a child of delights? For whilst I have been speaking against him, I do constantly remember him still. Therefore my bowels are troubled for him: I will certainly have mercy upon him, saith Jehovah.

este Efraim un fiu scump, un copil iubit de Mine?`, Căci cînd vorbesc de el, Îmi aduc aminte cu gingăşie de el, de aceea Îmi arde inima în Mine pentru el, şi voi avea milă negreşit de el, zice Domnul. -

21 S et up waymarks, make for thyself signposts; set thy heart toward the highway, the way by which thou wentest: turn again, O virgin of Israel, turn again to these thy cities.

Ridică semne pe drum, pune stîlpi, ia seama la calea, la drumul pe care l-ai urmat... Întoarce-te, fecioara lui Israel, întoarce-te în cetăţile acestea cari sînt ale tale!

22 H ow long wilt thou wander about, thou backsliding daughter? For Jehovah hath created a new thing on the earth, a woman shall encompass a man.

Pînă cînd vei fi pribeagă, fiică rătăcită? Căci Domnul face un lucru nou pe pămînt: femeia va peţi pe bărbat.

23 T hus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: They shall again use this speech, in the land of Judah and in the cities thereof, when I shall turn their captivity: Jehovah bless thee, O habitation of righteousness, mountain of holiness!

Aşa vorbeşte Domnul oştirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel:, Iată ce se va zice iarăş în ţara lui Iuda şi în cetăţile sale, cînd voi aduce înapoi pe prinşii lor de război:, Domnul să te binecuvinteze, locaş al neprihănirii, munte sfînt!`

24 A nd therein shall dwell Judah, and all the cities thereof together, the husbandmen, and they that go about with flocks.

Iuda va locui acolo fără teamă în toate cetăţile lui, plugarii şi cei ce umblă cu turmele la păşune.

25 F or I have satiated the weary soul, and every languishing soul have I replenished.

Căci voi răcori sufletul însetat, şi voi sătura orice suflet lihnit de foame.` -

26 — Upon this I awaked, and beheld; and my sleep was sweet unto me.

La aceste lucruri m'am trezit, şi am privit; şi somnul îmi fusese dulce. -

27 B ehold, days come, saith Jehovah, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah the seed of man and the seed of beast.

Iată, vin zile, zice Domnul, cînd voi însămînţa casa lui Israel şi casa lui Iuda cu o sămînţă de oameni şi o sămînţă de dobitoace.

28 A nd it shall come to pass, as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to break down, and to overthrow, and to destroy, and to afflict; so will I watch over them to build, and to plant, saith Jehovah.

Şi cum am vegheat asupra lor ca să -i smulg, să -i tai, să -i dărîm, să -i nimicesc şi să le fac rău, tot aşa voi veghea asupra lor că să -i zidesc şi să -i sădesc, zice Domnul.``

29 I n those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge:

zilele acelea, nu se va mai zice:, Părinţii au mîncat aguridă, şi copiilor li s'au sterpezit dinţii,`

30 f or every one shall die for his own iniquity; every man that eateth the sour grapes, his teeth shall be set on edge.

ci fiecare va muri pentru nelegiuirea lui; oricărui om, care va mînca aguridă, i se vor sterpezi dinţii!

31 B ehold, days come, saith Jehovah, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

Iată, vin zile, zice Domnul, cînd voi face cu casa lui Israel şi cu casa lui Iuda un legămînt nou.

32 n ot according to the covenant that I made with their fathers, in the day of my taking them by the hand, to lead them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they broke, although I was a husband unto them, saith Jehovah.

Nu ca legămîntul, pe care l-am încheiat cu părinţii lor, în ziua cînd i-am apucat de mînă, să -i scot din ţara Egiptului, legămînt, pe care l-au călcat, măcarcă aveam drepturi de soţ asupra lor, zice Domnul.``

33 F or this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel, after those days, saith Jehovah: I will put my law in their inward parts, and will write it in their heart; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Ci iată legămîntul, pe care -l voi face cu casa lui Israel, după zilele acelea, zice Domnul: Voi pune Legea Mea înlăuntrul lor, o voi scrie în inima lor; şi Eu voi fi Dumnezeul lor, iar ei vor fi poporul Meu.

34 A nd they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know Jehovah; for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith Jehovah: for I will pardon their iniquity, and their sin will I remember no more.

Niciunul nu va mai învăţa pe aproapele, sau pe fratele său, zicînd:, Cunoaşte pe Domnul!` Ci toţi Mă vor cunoaşte, dela cel mai mic pînă la cel mai mare, zice Domnul; căci le voi ierta nelegiuirea, şi nu-Mi voi mai aduce aminte de păcatul lor.

35 T hus saith Jehovah, who giveth the sun for light by day, the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for light by night, who stirreth up the sea so that the waves thereof roar,—Jehovah of hosts is his name:

Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, care a făcut soarele să lumineze ziua, care a rînduit luna şi stelele să lumineze noaptea, care întărîtă marea şi face valurile ei să urle, El, al cărui Nume este Domnul oştirilor:

36 I f those ordinances depart from before me, saith Jehovah, the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.

Dacă vor înceta aceste legi dinaintea Mea, zice Domnul, şi neamul lui Israel va înceta pe vecie să mai fie un neam înaintea Mea!``

37 T hus saith Jehovah: If the heavens above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off the whole seed of Israel, for all that they have done, saith Jehovah.

Aşa vorbeşte Domnul:, Dacă cerurile sus pot fi măsurate, şi dacă temeliile pămîntului jos pot fi cercetate, atunci voi lepăda şi Eu pe tot neamul lui Israel, pentru tot ce a făcut, zice Domnul.``

38 B ehold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that the city shall be built to Jehovah, from the tower of Hananeel unto the corner-gate.

Iată, vin zile, zice Domnul, cînd cetatea va fi zidită iarăş în cinstea Domnului, dela turnul lui Hananeel pînă la poarta unghiului.

39 A nd the measuring line shall yet go forth before it unto the hill Gareb, and shall turn toward Goath.

Frînghia de măsurat va trece încă pe dinaintea ei, pînă la dealul Gareb, şi de acolo va face un ocol în spre Goat.

40 A nd the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the torrent Kidron, unto the corner of the horse-gate toward the east, shall be holy unto Jehovah: it shall not be plucked up, nor overthrown any more for ever.

Toată valea unde se aruncă trupurile moarte şi cenuşa, şi toate ogoarele pînă la pîrîul Chedron, pînă la unghiul porţii cailor la răsărit, vor fi închinate Domnului şi nu vor mai fi niciodată nici surpate nici nimicite.``
