1 T he burden of the valley of vision. What aileth thee now, that thou art wholly gone up to the housetops?

Proorocie asupra văii vedeniilor.,, Ce este de vă suiţi cu toţii pe acoperişuri,

2 T hou that wast full of stir, a town of tumult, a joyous city: thy slain men are not slain with the sword, nor dead in battle.

cetate gălăgioasă, plină de zarvă, cetate veselă! Morţii tăi nu vor pieri ucişi de sabie, nici nu vor muri luptînd.

3 A ll thy rulers have fled together, they are taken prisoners without the bow: all that are found of thee are made prisoners together; they were fleeing far off.

Ci toate căpeteniile tale fug împreună, sînt luaţi prinşi de arcaşi; toţi locuitorii tăi ajung deodată robi, în timp ce o iau la fugă în depărtare.

4 T herefore said I, Look away from me; let me weep bitterly: labour not to comfort me, because of the spoiling of the daughter of my people.

De aceea zic:,Întoarceţi-vă privirile dela mine, lăsaţi-mă să plîng cu amar; nu stăruiţi să mă mîngîiaţi pentru nenorocirea fiicei poporului meu!

5 F or it is a day of trouble, and of treading down, and of perplexity, from the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, in the valley of vision; breaking down the wall, and of crying to the mountain:

Căci este o zi de necaz, de zdrobire şi de învălmăşală, trimeasă de Domnul, Dumnezeul oştirilor, în valea vedeniilor. Se dărîmă zidurile, şi răsună ţipete de durere spre munte.

6 — Elam beareth the quiver with chariots of men horsemen; and Kir uncovereth the shield.

Elamul poartă tolba cu săgeţi; cară de luptători, de călăreţi înaintează; Chirul desveleşte scutul.

7 A nd it shall come to pass thy choicest valleys shall be full of chariots, and the horsemen shall set themselves in array at the gate.

Cele mai frumoase văi ale tale sînt pline de cară, şi călăreţii se înşiruie de bătaie la porţile tale.

8 A nd he uncovereth the covering of Judah: and thou didst look in that day to the armour in the house of the forest;

Cele din urmă şanţuri de întărire ale lui Iuda sînt silite, şi în ziua aceasta cercetezi tu armăturile din casa pădurii.

9 a nd ye have seen the breaches of the city of David, that they are many; and ye have gathered together the waters of the lower pool;

Vă uitaţi la spărturile cele multe făcute cetăţii lui David, şi opriţi apele iazului de jos.

10 a nd ye have numbered the houses of Jerusalem, and have broken down the houses to fortify the wall;

Număraţi casele Ierusalimului, şi le stricaţi, ca să întăriţi zidul.

11 a nd ye have made a reservoir between the two walls for the water of the old pool: but ye have not had regard unto the maker thereof, neither have ye looked unto him that fashioned it long ago.

Faceţi o cămară între cele două ziduri, pentru apele iazului celui vechi; -dar nu vă uitaţi spre Cel ce a vrut aceste lucruri, nu vedeţi pe Cel ce de mult le -a pregătit.

12 A nd in that day did the Lord Jehovah of hosts call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth;

Şi totuş Domnul, Dumnezeul oştirilor, vă cheamă în ziua aceea să plîngeţi şi să vă bateţi în piept, să vă radeţi capul şi să vă încingeţi cu sac.

13 a nd behold joy and rejoicing, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine:—Let us eat and drink, for to-morrow we die.

Dar iată, în schimb, veselie şi bucurie! Se junghie boi şi se taie oi, se mănîncă la carne şi se bea la vin:, Să mîncăm şi să bem, căci mîne vom muri!` -

14 A nd it was revealed in mine ears by Jehovah of hosts: Assuredly this iniquity shall not be purged from you till ye die, saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts.

Domnul oştirilor mi -a descoperit, şi mi -a zis:, Nu, nelegiuirea aceasta nu vi se va ierta pînă nu veţi muri, zice Domnul, Dumnezeul oştirilor.``

15 T hus saith the Lord Jehovah of hosts: Go, get thee in unto this steward, unto Shebna, who is over the house,

Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeul oştirilor:,, Du-te la curteanul acela, la Şebna, dregătorul casei împărăteşti, şi zi -i:

16 W hat hast thou here? and whom hast thou here, that thou hast hewn thee out a sepulchre here, he that heweth out his sepulchre on high, cutting out in the rock a habitation for himself?

Ce ai tu aici la tine, şi pe cine ai aici, de-ţi săpi aici un mormînt?` El îşi sapă un mormînt sus pe înălţime, îşi scobeşte o locuinţă în stîncă!

17 B ehold, Jehovah will hurl thee with the force of a mighty man, and will cover thee entirely.

Iată, Domnul te va asvîrli cu o aruncătură puternică, te va învîrti ca pe un ghem.

18 R olling thee up completely, he will roll thee as a ball into a wide country: there shalt thou die, and there shall be the chariots of thy glory, O shame of thy lord's house!

Te va asvîrli, te va asvîrli ca pe o minge, pe un pămînt întins, şi acolo vei muri, acolo vor veni carele tale cele strălucite, tu, ocara casei stăpînului tău!

19 A nd I will drive thee from thine office, and from thy station will I pull thee down.

Vei fi izgonit din dregătoria ta, şi te va smulge Domnul din locul tău.

20 A nd it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkijah;

ziua aceea, zice Domnul, voi chema pe robul Meu Eliachim, fiul lui Hilchia,

21 a nd I will clothe him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand; and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah.

îl voi îmbrăca în tunica ta, îl voi încinge cu brîul tău, şi voi da puterea ta în mînile lui. El va fi un tată pentru locuitorii Ierusalimului şi pentru casa lui Iuda.

22 A nd the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; and he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.

Voi pune pe umărul lui cheia casei lui David: cînd va deschide el, nimeni nu va închide, şi cînd va închide el, nimeni nu va deschide.

23 A nd I will fasten him a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a throne of glory to his father's house:

Îl voi împlînta ca pe un drug într'un loc tare, şi va fi un scaun de slavă pentru casa tatălui său.

24 a nd they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father's house, the offspring and the issue, all the small vessels, as well the vessels of cups as all the vessels of flagons.

Pe el se va sprijini toată slava casei tatălui său, odraslele alese şi de ocară, toate sculele cele mici, atît lighenele cît şi vasele.``

25 I n that day, saith Jehovah of hosts, shall the nail that is fastened in a sure place be removed, and be cut down, and fall; and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off: for Jehovah hath spoken.

ziua aceea, zice Domnul oştirilor, drugul acela împlîntat într'un loc tare va fi scos, va fi tăiat şi va cădea, şi povara care era pe el va fi nimicită, căci Domnul a vorbit.``
