1 C omo corrente de águas é o coração do rei na mão do Senhor; ele o inclina para onde quer.

The king's heart is in the hand of Jehovah as the watercourses: He turneth it whithersoever he will.

2 T odo caminho do homem é reto aos seus olhos; mas o Senhor pesa os corações.

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes; But Jehovah weigheth the hearts.

3 F azer justiça e julgar com retidão é mais aceitável ao Senhor do que oferecer-lhe sacrifício.

To do righteousness and justice Is more acceptable to Jehovah than sacrifice.

4 O lhar altivo e coração orgulhoso, tal lâmpada dos ímpios é pecado.

A high look, and a proud heart, Even the lamp of the wicked, is sin.

5 O s planos do diligente conduzem ã abundância; mas todo precipitado apressa-se para a penúria.

The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; But every one that is hasty hasteth only to want.

6 A juntar tesouros com língua falsa é uma vaidade fugitiva; aqueles que os buscam, buscam a morte.

The getting of treasures by a lying tongue Is a vapor driven to and fro by them that seek death.

7 A violência dos ímpios arrebatá-los-á, porquanto recusam praticar a justiça.

The violence of the wicked shall sweep them away, Because they refuse to do justice.

8 O caminho do homem perverso é tortuoso; mas o proceder do puro é reto.

The way of him that is laden with guilt is exceeding crooked; But as for the pure, his work is right.

9 M elhor é morar num canto do eirado, do que com a mulher rixosa numa casa ampla.

It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, Than with a contentious woman in a wide house.

10 A alma do ímpio deseja o mal; o seu próximo não agrada aos seus olhos.

The soul of the wicked desireth evil: His neighbor findeth no favor in his eyes.

11 Q uando o escarnecedor é castigado, o simples torna-se sábio; e, quando o sábio é instruído, recebe o conhecimento.

When the scoffer is punished, the simple is made wise; And when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.

12 O justo observa a casa do ímpio; precipitam-se os ímpios na ruína.

The righteous man considereth the house of the wicked, How the wicked are overthrown to their ruin.

13 Q uem tapa o seu ouvido ao clamor do pobre, também clamará e não será ouvido.

Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, He also shall cry, but shall not be heard.

14 O presente que se dá em segredo aplaca a ira; e a dádiva

A gift in secret pacifieth anger; And a present in the bosom, strong wrath.

15 A execução da justiça é motivo de alegria para o justo; mas é espanto para os que praticam a iniqüidade.

It is joy to the righteous to do justice; But it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.

16 O homem que anda desviado do caminho do entendimento repousará na congregação dos mortos.

The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding Shall rest in the assembly of the dead.

17 Q uem ama os prazeres empobrecerá; quem ama o vinho e o azeite nunca enriquecera.

He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: He that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.

18 R esgate para o justo é o ímpio; e em lugar do reto ficará o prevaricador.

The wicked is a ransom for the righteous; And the treacherous cometh in the stead of the upright.

19 M elhor é morar numa terra deserta do que com a mulher rixosa e iracunda.

It is better to dwell in a desert land, Than with a contentious and fretful woman.

20 H á tesouro precioso e azeite na casa do sábio; mas o homem insensato os devora.

There is precious treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise; But a foolish man swalloweth it up.

21 A quele que segue a justiça e a bondade achará a vida, a justiça e a honra.

He that followeth after righteousness and kindness Findeth life, righteousness, and honor.

22 O sábio escala a cidade dos valentes, e derriba a fortaleza em que ela confia.

A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, And bringeth down the strength of the confidence thereof.

23 O que guarda a sua boca e a sua língua, guarda das angústias a sua alma.

Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue Keepeth his soul from troubles.

24 Q uanto ao soberbo e presumido, zombador é seu nome; ele procede com insolente orgulho.

The proud and haughty man, scoffer is his name; He worketh in the arrogance of pride.

25 O desejo do preguiçoso o mata; porque as suas mãos recusam-se a trabalhar.

The desire of the sluggard killeth him; For his hands refuse to labor.

26 T odo o dia o ímpio cobiça; mas o justo dá, e não retém.

There is that coveteth greedily all the day long; But the righteous giveth and withholdeth not.

27 O sacrifício dos ímpios é abominaçao; quanto mais oferecendo-o com intenção maligna!

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination: How much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind!

28 A testemunha mentirosa perecerá; mas o homem que ouve falará sem ser contestado.

A false witness shall perish; But the man that heareth shall speak so as to endure.

29 O homem ímpio endurece o seu rosto; mas o reto considera os seus caminhos.

A wicked man hardeneth his face; But as for the upright, he establisheth his ways.

30 N ão há sabedoria, nem entendimento, nem conselho contra o Senhor.

There is no wisdom nor understanding Nor counsel against Jehovah.

31 O cavalo prepara-se para o dia da batalha; mas do Senhor vem a vitória.

The horse is prepared against the day of battle; But victory is of Jehovah.
