1 O meu coração trasborda de boas palavras; dirijo os meus versos ao rei; a minha língua é qual pena de um hábil escriba.

My heart overfloweth with a goodly matter; I speak the things which I have made touching the king: My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

2 T u és o mais formoso dos filhos dos homens; a graça se derramou nos teus lábios; por isso Deus te abençoou para sempre.

Thou art fairer than the children of men; Grace is poured into thy lips: Therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.

3 C inge a tua espada ã coxa, ó valente, na tua glória e majestade.

Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O mighty one, Thy glory and thy majesty.

4 E em tua majestade cavalga vitoriosamente pela causa da verdade, da mansidão e da justiça, e a tua destra te ensina coisas terríveis.

And in thy majesty ride on prosperously, Because of truth and meekness and righteousness: And thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.

5 A s tuas flechas são agudas no coração dos inimigos do rei; os povos caem debaixo de ti.

Thine arrows are sharp; The peoples fall under thee; They are in the heart of the king's enemies.

6 O teu trono, ó Deus, subsiste pelos séculos dos séculos; cetro de eqüidade é o cetro do teu reino.

Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: A sceptre of equity is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

7 A maste a justiça e odiaste a iniqüidade; por isso Deus, o teu Deus, te ungiu com óleo de alegria, mais do que a teus companheiros.

Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated wickedness: Therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee With the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

8 T odas as tuas vestes cheiram a mirra a aloés e a cássia; dos palácios de marfim os instrumentos de cordas e te alegram.

All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia; Out of ivory palaces stringed instruments have made thee glad.

9 F ilhas de reis estão entre as tuas ilustres donzelas; ã tua mão direita está a rainha, ornada de ouro de Ofir.

Kings' daughters are among thy honorable women: At thy right hand doth stand the queen in gold of Ophir.

10 O uve, filha, e olha, e inclina teus ouvidos; esquece-te do teu povo e da casa de teu pai.

Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; Forget also thine own people, and thy father's house:

11 E ntão o rei se afeiçoará ã tua formosura. Ele é teu senhor, presta-lhe, pois, homenagem.

So will the king desire thy beauty; For he is thy lord; and reverence thou him.

12 A filha de Tiro estará ali com presentes; os ricos do povo suplicarão o teu favor.

And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; The rich among the people shall entreat thy favor.

13 A filha do rei está esplendente lá dentro do palácio; as suas vestes são entretecidas de ouro.

The king's daughter within the palace is all glorious: Her clothing is inwrought with gold.

14 E m vestidos de cores brilhantes será conduzida ao rei; as virgens, suas companheiras que a seguem, serão trazidas ã tua presença.

She shall be led unto the king in broidered work: The virgins her companions that follow her Shall be brought unto thee.

15 C om alegria e regozijo serão trazidas; elas entrarão no palácio do rei.

With gladness and rejoicing shall they be led: They shall enter into the king's palace.

16 E m lugar de teus pais estarão teus filhos; tu os farás príncipes sobre toda a terra.

Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, Whom thou shalt make princes in all the earth.

17 F arei lembrado o teu nome de geração em geração; pelo que os povos te louvarão eternamente.

I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: Therefore shall the peoples give thee thanks for ever and ever.
