1 N ow after the death of Joshua it came to pass that the children of Israel asked the Lord, saying, “Who shall be first to go up for us against the Canaanites to fight against them?”

2 A nd the Lord said, “Judah shall go up. Indeed I have delivered the land into his hand.”

И Господ каза: Юда ще възлезе, ето, предадох земята в ръката му.

3 S o Judah said to Simeon his brother, “Come up with me to my allotted territory, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I will likewise go with you to your allotted territory.” And Simeon went with him.

Тогава Юда каза на брата си Симеона: Възлез с мене в моя предел, за да воюваме против ханаанците, и аз ще отида с тебе в твоя предел. И Симеон отиде с него.

4 T hen Judah went up, and the Lord delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand; and they killed ten thousand men at Bezek.

Юда, прочее, възлезе; и Господ предаде ханаанците и ферезейците в ръката им; и те поразиха от тях във Везек десет хиляди мъже.

5 A nd they found Adoni-Bezek in Bezek, and fought against him; and they defeated the Canaanites and the Perizzites.

И намериха Адонивезека във Везек, воюваха против него и поразиха ханаанците и ферезейците.

6 T hen Adoni-Bezek fled, and they pursued him and caught him and cut off his thumbs and big toes.

А Адонивезек побягна; но те го погнаха и хванаха го, и отсякоха палците на ръцете му и на нозете му.

7 A nd Adoni-Bezek said, “Seventy kings with their thumbs and big toes cut off used to gather scraps under my table; as I have done, so God has repaid me.” Then they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died.

И рече Адонивезек: Седемдесет царе с отсечени палци на ръцете и на нозете си са събирали <трохи> под трапезата ми; както съм аз правил, така ми въздаде Бог. И доведоха го в Ерусалим, гдето и умря.

8 N ow the children of Judah fought against Jerusalem and took it; they struck it with the edge of the sword and set the city on fire.

И юдейците воюваха против Ерусалим, и, като го завладяха, поразиха го с острото на ножа и предадоха града на огън.

9 A nd afterward the children of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites who dwelt in the mountains, in the South, and in the lowland.

Подир това, юдейците слязоха, за да воюват против ханаанците, които живееха в хълмистата, и в южната и в полската страни.

10 T hen Judah went against the Canaanites who dwelt in Hebron. (Now the name of Hebron was formerly Kirjath Arba.) And they killed Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai.

Юда отиде и против ханаанците, които живееха в Хеврон (а по-напред името на Хеврон беше Кириат-арва), и убиха Сесая, Ахимана и Талмая;

11 F rom there they went against the inhabitants of Debir. (The name of Debir was formerly Kirjath Sepher.)

и от там отиде против жителите на Девир (а по-напред името на Девир беше Кириат-сефер).

12 T hen Caleb said, “Whoever attacks Kirjath Sepher and takes it, to him I will give my daughter Achsah as wife.”

И рече Халев: Който порази Кириат-сефер и го превземе, нему ще дам дъщеря си Ахса за жена.

13 A nd Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother, took it; so he gave him his daughter Achsah as wife.

И превзе го Готониил, син на Кенеза, по-малкия брат на Халева; и той му даде дъщеря си Ахса за жена.

14 N ow it happened, when she came to him, that she urged him to ask her father for a field. And she dismounted from her donkey, and Caleb said to her, “What do you wish?”

И като отиваше тя му внуши щото да поиска от баща й нива; и тъй, като слезе от осела, Халев й рече: Що ти е?

15 S o she said to him, “Give me a blessing; since you have given me land in the South, give me also springs of water.” And Caleb gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.

А тя му рече: Дай ми благословение; понеже си ми дал южна страна, дай ми и водни извори. И Халев й даде горните извори и долните извори.

16 N ow the children of the Kenite, Moses’ father-in-law, went up from the City of Palms with the children of Judah into the Wilderness of Judah, which lies in the South near Arad; and they went and dwelt among the people.

И потомците на кенееца, Моисеевия тъст, отидоха от Града на палмите, заедно с юдейците, в Юдовата пустиня, която е на юг от Арад; и отидоха та се заселиха между людете.

17 A nd Judah went with his brother Simeon, and they attacked the Canaanites who inhabited Zephath, and utterly destroyed it. So the name of the city was called Hormah.

Тогава Юда отиде с брата си Симеона, та поразиха ханаанците, които живееха в Сефат; и обрекоха града на изтребление; и градът се нарече Орма.

18 A lso Judah took Gaza with its territory, Ashkelon with its territory, and Ekron with its territory.

Юда завладя и Газа с околностите му, Аскалон с околностите му и Акарон с околностите му.

19 S o the Lord was with Judah. And they drove out the mountaineers, but they could not drive out the inhabitants of the lowland, because they had chariots of iron.

Господ беше с Юда; и той изгони <жителите на> хълмистата страна, обаче, не изгони жителите и на долината, защото имаха железни колесници.

20 A nd they gave Hebron to Caleb, as Moses had said. Then he expelled from there the three sons of Anak.

И дадоха Хеврон на Халева, според както Моисей беше казал; и той изгони от там тримата Енакови синове.

21 B ut the children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites who inhabited Jerusalem; so the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem to this day.

А вениаминците не изгониха евусейците, които населяваха Ерусалим; но евусейците живееха в Ерусалим заедно с вениаминците, <както живеят и> до днес.

22 A nd the house of Joseph also went up against Bethel, and the Lord was with them.

Също и Иосифовият дом, и те отидоха против Ветил; и Господ беше с тях.

23 S o the house of Joseph sent men to spy out Bethel. (The name of the city was formerly Luz.)

И Иосифовият дом прати да съгледат Ветил (а по-напред името на града беше Луз).

24 A nd when the spies saw a man coming out of the city, they said to him, “Please show us the entrance to the city, and we will show you mercy.”

И съгледателите видяха един човек, който излизаше из града, и рекоха му: Покажи ни, молим, входа на града, и ще ти покажем милост.

25 S o he showed them the entrance to the city, and they struck the city with the edge of the sword; but they let the man and all his family go.

И той им показа входа на града, и те поразиха града с острото на ножа, а човека оставиха да излезе с цялото си семейство.

26 A nd the man went to the land of the Hittites, built a city, and called its name Luz, which is its name to this day. Incomplete Conquest of the Land

И човекът отиде в Хетейската земя, гдето и съгради град и нарече го Луз, както е името му и до днес.

27 H owever, Manasseh did not drive out the inhabitants of Beth Shean and its villages, or Taanach and its villages, or the inhabitants of Dor and its villages, or the inhabitants of Ibleam and its villages, or the inhabitants of Megiddo and its villages; for the Canaanites were determined to dwell in that land.

Манасия не изгони <жителите на> Ветсан и селата му, нито на Таанах и селата му, нито жителите на Дор и селата му, нито жителите на Ивлеам и селата му, нито жителите на Магедон и селата му; но ханаанците настояваха да живеят в оная земя.

28 A nd it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they put the Canaanites under tribute, but did not completely drive them out.

А Израил, когато стана силен наложи на ханаанците данък, без да ги изгони съвсем.

29 N or did Ephraim drive out the Canaanites who dwelt in Gezer; so the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them.

Нито Ефрем изгони ханаанците, които живееха в Гезер; но ханаанците живееха в Гезер помежду им.

30 N or did Zebulun drive out the inhabitants of Kitron or the inhabitants of Nahalol; so the Canaanites dwelt among them, and were put under tribute.

Завулон тоже не изгони жителите на Китрон, нито жителите на Наалол; но ханаанците живееха между тях и бяха обложени с данък.

31 N or did Asher drive out the inhabitants of Acco or the inhabitants of Sidon, or of Ahlab, Achzib, Helbah, Aphik, or Rehob.

Асир не изгони жителите на Акхо, нито жителите на Сидон, нито на Ахлав, нито на Ахзив, нито на Хелва, нито на Афек, нито на Роов;

32 S o the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land; for they did not drive them out.

но асирците обитаваха между ханаанците, местните жители, защото не ги изгониха.

33 N or did Naphtali drive out the inhabitants of Beth Shemesh or the inhabitants of Beth Anath; but they dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land. Nevertheless the inhabitants of Beth Shemesh and Beth Anath were put under tribute to them.

Нефталим не изгони жителите на Ветсемес, нито жителите на Ветенат, но живееше между ханаанците, местните жители; обаче жителите на Ветсемес и на Ветенат му плащаха данък.

34 A nd the Amorites forced the children of Dan into the mountains, for they would not allow them to come down to the valley;

И аморейците принудиха данците да се оттеглят в хълмистата страна, защото не ги оставиха да слизат в долината;

35 a nd the Amorites were determined to dwell in Mount Heres, in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim; yet when the strength of the house of Joseph became greater, they were put under tribute.

но аморейците настояваха да живеят в гората Ерес, в Еалон, и в Саалвим. Но при все това, ръката на Иосифовия дом преодоля, така щото ония бяха обложени с данък.

36 N ow the boundary of the Amorites was from the Ascent of Akrabbim, from Sela, and upward.

А пределът на аморейците беше от нагорнището на Акравим, от скалата и нагоре.
