1 I will give thanks to Yahweh with my whole heart. I will tell of all your marvelous works.

2 I will be glad and rejoice in you. I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.

Mi rallegrerò ed esulterò in te, salmeggerò al tuo nome, o Altissimo,

3 W hen my enemies turn back, they stumble and perish in your presence.

poiché i miei nemici voltan le spalle, cadono e periscono davanti a te.

4 F or you have maintained my just cause. You sit on the throne judging righteously.

Tu infatti hai sostenuto il mio diritto e la mia causa; ti sei assiso sul trono come giusto giudice.

5 Y ou have rebuked the nations. You have destroyed the wicked. You have blotted out their name forever and ever.

Tu hai rimproverato le nazioni, hai fatto perire l’empio, hai cancellato il loro nome per sempre.

6 T he enemy is overtaken by endless ruin. The very memory of the cities which you have overthrown has perished.

È finita per il nemico! Son rovine perenni! Delle città che hai distrutte si è perso perfino il ricordo.

7 B ut Yahweh reigns forever. He has prepared his throne for judgment.

Il Signore siede come re in eterno; egli ha preparato il suo trono per il giudizio.

8 H e will judge the world in righteousness. He will administer judgment to the peoples in uprightness.

Giudicherà il mondo con giustizia, giudicherà i popoli con rettitudine.

9 Y ahweh will also be a high tower for the oppressed; a high tower in times of trouble.

Il Signore sarà un rifugio sicuro per l’oppresso, un rifugio sicuro in tempo d’angoscia;

10 T hose who know your name will put their trust in you, for you, Yahweh, have not forsaken those who seek you.

quelli che conoscono il tuo nome confideranno in te, perché, o Signore, tu non abbandoni quelli che ti cercano.

11 S ing praises to Yahweh, who dwells in Zion, and declare among the people what he has done.

Salmeggiate al Signore che abita in Sion, raccontate tra i popoli le sue opere.

12 F or he who avenges blood remembers them. He doesn’t forget the cry of the afflicted.

Perché colui che domanda ragione del sangue si ricorda dei miseri e non ne dimentica il grido.

13 H ave mercy on me, Yahweh. See my affliction by those who hate me, and lift me up from the gates of death;

Abbi pietà di me, o Signore! Vedi come mi affliggono quelli che mi odiano, o tu che mi fai risalire dalle porte della morte,

14 t hat I may show all of your praise. In the gates of the daughter of Zion, I will rejoice in your salvation.

affinché io racconti le tue lodi. Alle porte della figlia di Sion festeggerò per la tua salvezza.

15 T he nations have sunk down in the pit that they made. In the net which they hid, their own foot is taken.

Le nazioni sono sprofondate nella fossa che avevano fatta; il loro piede è stato preso nella rete che avevano tesa.

16 Y ahweh has made himself known. He has executed judgment. The wicked is snared by the work of his own hands. Meditation. Selah.

Il Signore s’è fatto conoscere, ha fatto giustizia; l’empio è caduto nella trappola tesa con le proprie mani.

17 T he wicked shall be turned back to Sheol, even all the nations that forget God.

Gli empi se ne andranno al soggiorno dei morti, sì, tutte le nazioni che dimenticano Dio.

18 F or the needy shall not always be forgotten, nor the hope of the poor perish forever.

Certamente il povero non sarà dimenticato per sempre, né la speranza dei miseri resterà delusa in eterno.

19 A rise, Yahweh! Don’t let man prevail. Let the nations be judged in your sight.

Ergiti, o Signore! Non lasciare che prevalga il mortale; siano giudicate le nazioni in tua presenza.

20 P ut them in fear, Yahweh. Let the nations know that they are only men. Selah.

O Signore, infondi spavento in loro; i popoli riconoscano che sono mortali.
