1 T he fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt. They have done abominable deeds. There is no one who does good.

Al direttore del coro. Di Davide. Lo stolto ha detto in cuor suo: «Non c’è Dio». Sono corrotti, fanno cose abominevoli; non c’è nessuno che faccia il bene.

2 Y ahweh looked down from heaven on the children of men, to see if there were any who understood, who sought after God.

Il Signore ha guardato dal cielo i figli degli uomini, per vedere se vi è una persona intelligente, che ricerchi Dio.

3 T hey have all gone aside. They have together become corrupt. There is no one who does good, no, not one.

Tutti si sono sviati, tutti sono corrotti, non c’è nessuno che faccia il bene, neppure uno.

4 H ave all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread, and don’t call on Yahweh?

Sono dunque senza conoscenza tutti questi malvagi, che divorano il mio popolo come se fosse pane e non invocano il Signore ?

5 T here they were in great fear, for God is in the generation of the righteous.

Ma ecco, sono presi da grande spavento quando Dio appare in mezzo ai giusti.

6 Y ou frustrate the plan of the poor, because Yahweh is his refuge.

Voi cercate di confondere le speranze del misero, perché il Signore è il suo rifugio.

7 O h that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When Yahweh restores the fortunes of his people, then Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

Oh, chi darà da Sion la salvezza a Israele? Quando il Signore farà ritornare gli esuli del suo popolo, Giacobbe esulterà, Israele si rallegrerà.
