1 T he fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt. They have done abominable deeds. There is no one who does good.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They have corrupted themselves, they have done abominable works: there is none that doeth good.
2 Y ahweh looked down from heaven on the children of men, to see if there were any who understood, who sought after God.
Jehovah looked down from the heavens upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.
3 T hey have all gone aside. They have together become corrupt. There is no one who does good, no, not one.
They have all gone aside, they are together become corrupt: there is none that doeth good, not even one.
4 H ave all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread, and don’t call on Yahweh?
Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, eating up my people they eat bread? They call not upon Jehovah.
5 T here they were in great fear, for God is in the generation of the righteous.
There were they in great fear; for God is in the generation of the righteous.
6 Y ou frustrate the plan of the poor, because Yahweh is his refuge.
Ye have shamed the counsel of the afflicted, because Jehovah his refuge.
7 O h that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When Yahweh restores the fortunes of his people, then Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When Jehovah turneth again the captivity of his people, Jacob shall be glad, Israel shall rejoice.
