1 B eing therefore justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ;
Therefore having been justified on the principle of faith, we have peace towards God through our Lord Jesus Christ;
2 t hrough whom we also have our access by faith into this grace in which we stand. We rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
by whom we have also access by faith into this favour in which we stand, and we boast in hope of the glory of God.
3 N ot only this, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces perseverance;
And not only, but we also boast in tribulations, knowing that tribulation works endurance;
4 a nd perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope:
and endurance, experience; and experience, hope;
5 a nd hope doesn’t disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
and hope does not make ashamed, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by Holy Spirit which has been given to us:
6 F or while we were yet weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
for we being still without strength, in due time Christ has died for ungodly.
7 F or one will hardly die for a righteous man. Yet perhaps for a righteous person someone would even dare to die.
For scarcely for just will one die, for perhaps for good some one might also dare to die;
8 B ut God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
but God commends his love to us, in that, we being still sinners, Christ has died for us.
9 M uch more then, being now justified by his blood, we will be saved from God’s wrath through him.
Much rather therefore, having been now justified in his blood, we shall be saved by him from wrath.
10 F or if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we will be saved by his life.
For if, being enemies, we have been reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much rather, having been reconciled, we shall be saved in his life.
11 N ot only so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.
And not only, but making our boast in God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom now we have received the reconciliation.
12 T herefore as sin entered into the world through one man, and death through sin; and so death passed to all men, because all sinned.
For this, even as by one man sin entered into the world, and by sin death; and thus death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
13 F or until the law, sin was in the world; but sin is not charged when there is no law.
(for until law sin was in world; but sin is not put to account when there is no law;
14 N evertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those whose sins weren’t like Adam’s disobedience, who is a foreshadowing of him who was to come.
but death reigned from Adam until Moses, even upon those who had not sinned in the likeness of Adam's transgression, who is figure of him to come.
15 B ut the free gift isn’t like the trespass. For if by the trespass of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God, and the gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many.
But not the act of favour as the offence? For if by the offence of one the many have died, much rather has the grace of God, and the free gift in grace, which by the one man Jesus Christ, abounded unto the many.
16 T he gift is not as through one who sinned: for the judgment came by one to condemnation, but the free gift came of many trespasses to justification.
And not as by one that has sinned the gift? For the judgment of one to condemnation, but the act of favour, of many offences unto justification.
17 F or if by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; so much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ.
For if by the offence of the one death reigned by the one, much rather shall those who receive the abundance of grace, and of the free gift of righteousness, reign in life by the one Jesus Christ:)
18 S o then as through one trespass, all men were condemned; even so through one act of righteousness, all men were justified to life.
so then as by one offence towards all men to condemnation, so by one righteousness towards all men for justification of life.
19 F or as through the one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one, many will be made righteous.
For as indeed by the disobedience of the one man the many have been constituted sinners, so also by the obedience of the one the many will be constituted righteous.
20 T he law came in besides, that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace abounded more exceedingly;
But law came in, in order that the offence might abound; but where sin abounded grace has overabounded,
21 t hat as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
in order that, even as sin has reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
