1 N ow Jacob dwelt in the land where his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan.

А Яков живееше в Ханаанската земя - земята, в която баща му беше пришълец.

2 T his is the history of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brothers. And the lad was with the sons of Bilhah and the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives; and Joseph brought a bad report of them to his father.

Ето словото за Якововото потомство. Йосиф, когато беше момче на седемнадесет години, пасеше овцете заедно с братята си, синовете на Вала и синовете на Зелфа, жените на баща му; и Йосиф съобщаваше на баща им за лошото им поведение.

3 N ow Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age. Also he made him a tunic of many colors.

А Израел обичаше Йосиф повече от всичките си деца, защото беше син на старостта му, и му беше направил шарена дрешка.

4 B ut when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and could not speak peaceably to him.

Но братята му, като гледаха, че баща им го обичаше повече от всички тях, го намразиха и не можеха да му говорят спокойно.

5 N ow Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more.

А Йосиф видя сън и го разказа на братята си, и те го намразиха още повече.

6 S o he said to them, “Please hear this dream which I have dreamed:

Той им каза: Чуйте, моля, този сън, който видях:

7 T here we were, binding sheaves in the field. Then behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and indeed your sheaves stood all around and bowed down to my sheaf.”

Ето, ние вързвахме снопи на полето и моят сноп стана и се изправи, и вашите снопи се наредиха наоколо и се поклониха на моя сноп.

8 A nd his brothers said to him, “Shall you indeed reign over us? Or shall you indeed have dominion over us?” So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words.

А братята му попитаха: Ти цар ли ще станеш над нас? Или господар ще ни станеш? И го намразиха още повече заради сънищата му и заради думите му.

9 T hen he dreamed still another dream and told it to his brothers, and said, “Look, I have dreamed another dream. And this time, the sun, the moon, and the eleven stars bowed down to me.”

А той видя и друг сън и го разказа на братята си: Ето, видях още един сън, че слънцето и луната и единадесет звезди ми се поклониха.

10 S o he told it to his father and his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall your mother and I and your brothers indeed come to bow down to the earth before you?”

Но когато разказа това на баща си и на братята си, баща му го смъмра: Какъв е този сън, който си видял? Дали наистина аз и майка ти, и братята ти ще дойдем да ти се поклоним до земята?

11 A nd his brothers envied him, but his father kept the matter in mind. Joseph Sold by His Brothers

И братята му му завидяха, а баща му запомни тези думи. Йосиф продаден от братята си

12 T hen his brothers went to feed their father’s flock in Shechem.

А когато братята му бяха отишли да пасат стадото на баща си в Сихем,

13 A nd Israel said to Joseph, “Are not your brothers feeding the flock in Shechem? Come, I will send you to them.” So he said to him, “Here I am.”

Израел каза на Йосиф: Нали братята ти пасат стадото в Сихем? Ела да те изпратя при тях. А той му отвърна: Ето ме.

14 T hen he said to him, “Please go and see if it is well with your brothers and well with the flocks, and bring back word to me.” So he sent him out of the Valley of Hebron, and he went to Shechem.

И му каза: Иди, виж добре ли са братята ти и стадото и ми донеси известие. И така, изпрати го от Хевронската долина и той дойде в Сихем.

15 N ow a certain man found him, and there he was, wandering in the field. And the man asked him, saying, “What are you seeking?”

И един човек го намери, като се луташе из полето; и човекът го попита: Какво търсиш?

16 S o he said, “I am seeking my brothers. Please tell me where they are feeding their flocks. ”

А Йосиф отговори: Търся братята си; кажи ми, моля, къде пасат стадото.

17 A nd the man said, “They have departed from here, for I heard them say, ‘Let us go to Dothan.’” So Joseph went after his brothers and found them in Dothan.

И човекът каза: Заминаха оттук, защото ги чух да казват: Нека идем в Дотан. И така, Йосиф отиде след братята си и ги намери в Дотан.

18 N ow when they saw him afar off, even before he came near them, they conspired against him to kill him.

А те, като го видяха отдалеч, докато още не беше се приближил при тях, се сговориха против него да го убият.

19 T hen they said to one another, “Look, this dreamer is coming!

Казаха си един на друг: Ето, идва този съновидец.

20 C ome therefore, let us now kill him and cast him into some pit; and we shall say, ‘Some wild beast has devoured him.’ We shall see what will become of his dreams!”

Елате сега да го убием и да го хвърлим в един от тези ровове; и ще кажем: Лют звяр го е изял; и ще видим какво ще излезе от сънищата му.

21 B ut Reuben heard it, and he delivered him out of their hands, and said, “Let us not kill him.”

Но Рувим, като чу това, го избави от ръката им и каза: Да не го убиваме.

22 A nd Reuben said to them, “Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit which is in the wilderness, and do not lay a hand on him”—that he might deliver him out of their hands, and bring him back to his father.

Рувим им каза още: Не проливайте кръв, хвърлете го в този ров, който е в пустинята, но ръка да не вдигнете срещу него. Каза така, за да го избави от ръката им и да го върне на баща му.

23 S o it came to pass, when Joseph had come to his brothers, that they stripped Joseph of his tunic, the tunic of many colors that was on him.

И когато Йосиф дойде при братята си, те съблякоха от Йосиф дрешката му, шарената дрешка, която носеше.

24 T hen they took him and cast him into a pit. And the pit was empty; there was no water in it.

Тогава го взеха и го хвърлиха в рова; а ровът беше празен, нямаше вода.

25 A nd they sat down to eat a meal. Then they lifted their eyes and looked, and there was a company of Ishmaelites, coming from Gilead with their camels, bearing spices, balm, and myrrh, on their way to carry them down to Egypt.

После, като бяха седнали да ядат хляб, повдигнаха очи и видяха, че един керван исмаиляни идваше от Галаад с камилите си, натоварени с аромати, балсам и смирна, и отиваха да ги закарат в Египет.

26 S o Judah said to his brothers, “What profit is there if we kill our brother and conceal his blood?

Тогава Юда каза на братята си: Каква полза, ако убием брат си и скрием кръвта му?

27 C ome and let us sell him to the Ishmaelites, and let not our hand be upon him, for he is our brother and our flesh.” And his brothers listened.

Елате да го продадем на исмаиляните; да не слагаме ръка на него, защото е наш брат, наша плът. И братята му го послушаха.

28 T hen Midianite traders passed by; so the brothers pulled Joseph up and lifted him out of the pit, and sold him to the Ishmaelites for twenty shekels of silver. And they took Joseph to Egypt.

Когато мадиамските търговци минаваха, братята извлякоха и извадиха Йосиф от рова и го продадоха на исмаиляните за двадесет сребърника; а те заведоха Йосиф в Египет.

29 T hen Reuben returned to the pit, and indeed Joseph was not in the pit; and he tore his clothes.

А Рувим се върна при рова и разбра, че Йосиф не беше в рова. И раздра дрехите си.

30 A nd he returned to his brothers and said, “The lad is no more; and I, where shall I go?”

Върна се при братята си и каза: Детето го няма; а аз, аз къде да се дяна?

31 S o they took Joseph’s tunic, killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the tunic in the blood.

Тогава взеха Йосифовата дрешка, заклаха козел и като натопиха дрешката в кръвта,

32 T hen they sent the tunic of many colors, and they brought it to their father and said, “We have found this. Do you know whether it is your son’s tunic or not?”

изпратиха шарената дрешка да я занесат на баща им, като казаха: Намерихме това; познай сега дали е дрешката на сина ти, или не.

33 A nd he recognized it and said, “ It is my son’s tunic. A wild beast has devoured him. Without doubt Joseph is torn to pieces.”

И той я позна, и каза: Това е дрешката на сина ми; лют звяр го е изял, несъмнено Йосиф е разкъсан.

34 T hen Jacob tore his clothes, put sackcloth on his waist, and mourned for his son many days.

И Яков раздра дрехите си, сложи вретище около кръста си и оплаква сина си дълго време.

35 A nd all his sons and all his daughters arose to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted, and he said, “For I shall go down into the grave to my son in mourning.” Thus his father wept for him.

Тогава всичките му синове и дъщери станаха, за да го утешават, но той не искаше да се утеши, защото казваше: С жалеене ще сляза при сина си в гроба. И баща му го оплакваше.

36 N ow the Midianites had sold him in Egypt to Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh and captain of the guard.

А мадиамците продадоха Йосиф в Египет на Петефрий, фараонов придворен, началник на телохранителите.
