1 T hese are the areas which the children of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel distributed as an inheritance to them.

А ето наследството, което израелтяните взеха в Ханаанската земя, което им разделиха свещеникът Елеазар и Исус, Навиновият син, и началниците на бащините домове от племената на израелтяните.

2 T heir inheritance was by lot, as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes and the half-tribe.

С жребий бе разделено наследството на тези девет и половина племена, както Господ беше заповядал чрез Моисей.

3 F or Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half-tribe on the other side of the Jordan; but to the Levites he had given no inheritance among them.

Защото Моисей беше дал наследството на двете и половина племена отвъд Йордан; но на левитите не даде наследство заедно с тях.

4 F or the children of Joseph were two tribes: Manasseh and Ephraim. And they gave no part to the Levites in the land, except cities to dwell in, with their common-lands for their livestock and their property.

Защото Йосифовите потомци бяха две племена: Манасиевото и Ефремовото; но на левитите не дадоха дял в тази земя, а само градове за живеене с пасбища за добитъка им и за стоката им.

5 A s the Lord had commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did; and they divided the land. Caleb Inherits Hebron

Както Господ беше заповядал на Моисей, така направиха израелтяните, като разделиха земята.

6 T hen the children of Judah came to Joshua in Gilgal. And Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him: “You know the word which the Lord said to Moses the man of God concerning you and me in Kadesh Barnea.

В това време Юдовите синове дойдоха при Исус в Галгал и Халев, син на Ефония, Кенезеца, му каза: Ти знаеш какво е говорил Господ на Божия човек Моисей за мен и за тебе в Кадис-варни.

7 I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land, and I brought back word to him as it was in my heart.

Аз бях на четиридесет години, когато Господният слуга Моисей ме прати от Кадис-варни, за да разгледам земята; и му донесох известие според това, което бях видял.

8 N evertheless my brethren who went up with me made the heart of the people melt, but I wholly followed the Lord my God.

Братята ми обаче, които бяха дошли с мен, обезсърчиха народа; но аз последвах напълно Господа, моя Бог.

9 S o Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land where your foot has trodden shall be your inheritance and your children’s forever, because you have wholly followed the Lord my God.’

Затова в същия ден Моисей се закле с думите: Земята, на която стъпиха краката ти, ще бъде наследство на теб и на потомците ти завинаги, защото ти напълно последва Господа, моя Бог.

10 A nd now, behold, the Lord has kept me alive, as He said, these forty-five years, ever since the Lord spoke this word to Moses while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, here I am this day, eighty-five years old.

И така, Господ ме е опазил жив, както каза, през тези четиридесет и пет години, откакто Господ говорѝ това на Моисей, когато Израел се луташе из пустинята; и сега аз съм на осемдесет и пет години.

11 A s yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in.

Днес аз съм толкова силен, колкото в деня, когато Моисей ме изпрати. Каквато беше силата ми тогава, такава е и сега - да воювам, да излизам и да влизам.

12 N ow therefore, give me this mountain of which the Lord spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and that the cities were great and fortified. It may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out as the Lord said.”

И така, дай ми сега тази хълмиста земя, за която Господ каза тогава; защото ти чу в онзи ден, че там имало енакими и големи укрепени градове. Дано Господ бъде с мен и аз ще ги изгоня, както Господ каза.

13 A nd Joshua blessed him, and gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh as an inheritance.

Тогава Исус благослови Халев, Ефониевия син, и му даде Хеврон за наследство.

14 H ebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he wholly followed the Lord God of Israel.

Хеврон стана притежание на Халев, син на Ефония, Кенезеца, както е и до днес, защото той последва напълно Господа, Израелевия Бог.

15 A nd the name of Hebron formerly was Kirjath Arba ( Arba was the greatest man among the Anakim). Then the land had rest from war.

Преди това името на Хеврон беше Кириат-Арва; а Арва беше голям човек между енакимите. И земята утихна от война.
