1 I n the seventh year Jehoiada strengthened himself, and made a covenant with the captains of hundreds: Azariah the son of Jeroham, Ishmael the son of Jehohanan, Azariah the son of Obed, Maaseiah the son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat the son of Zichri.

А в седмата година Йодай се укрепи, като взе стотниците: Азария, Ероамовия син, Исмаил, Йоанановия син, Азария, Овидовия син, Маасия, Адаиевия син, и Елисафат, Зехриевия син, и сключи завет с тях.

2 A nd they went throughout Judah and gathered the Levites from all the cities of Judah, and the chief fathers of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem.

Те обходиха Юдея и събраха левитите от всички Юдейски градове и началниците на Израелевите бащини домове, и дойдоха в Йерусалим.

3 T hen all the assembly made a covenant with the king in the house of God. And he said to them, “Behold, the king’s son shall reign, as the Lord has said of the sons of David.

Тогава цялото събрание сключи завет с царя в Божия дом. Йодай им каза: Ето, царският син ще се възцари, както е говорил Господ за Давидовите потомци.

4 T his is what you shall do: One-third of you entering on the Sabbath, of the priests and the Levites, shall be keeping watch over the doors;

Ето какво трябва да направите: една трета от вас, от свещениците и от левитите, които постъпвате на служба в събота, нека стоят вратари при вратите,

5 o ne-third shall be at the king’s house; and one-third at the Gate of the Foundation. All the people shall be in the courts of the house of the Lord.

една трета в царската къща и една трета при портата на основата; а целият народ да бъде в дворовете на Господния дом.

6 B ut let no one come into the house of the Lord except the priests and those of the Levites who serve. They may go in, for they are holy; but all the people shall keep the watch of the Lord.

И никой да не влиза в Господния дом, освен свещениците и онези от левитите, които служат; те нека влизат, защото са святи; а целият народ да пази заръчаното от Господа.

7 A nd the Levites shall surround the king on all sides, every man with his weapons in his hand; and whoever comes into the house, let him be put to death. You are to be with the king when he comes in and when he goes out.”

Левитите да окръжават царя, като всеки има оръжията си в ръка; който би влязъл в дома, да бъде убит; и да бъдете с царя при влизането му и при излизането му.

8 S o the Levites and all Judah did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded. And each man took his men who were to be on duty on the Sabbath, with those who were going off duty on the Sabbath; for Jehoiada the priest had not dismissed the divisions.

И така, левитите и цяла Юдея извършиха всичко, според както заповяда свещеник Йодай, и взеха всеки мъжете си - онези, които щяха да постъпят на служба в събота, и онези, които щяха да оставят службата в събота; защото свещеник Йодай не разпускаше отрядите.

9 A nd Jehoiada the priest gave to the captains of hundreds the spears and the large and small shields which had belonged to King David, that were in the temple of God.

Свещеник Йодай даде на стотниците копията и малките и големите щитове на цар Давид, които бяха в Божия дом.

10 T hen he set all the people, every man with his weapon in his hand, from the right side of the temple to the left side of the temple, along by the altar and by the temple, all around the king.

И постави целия народ около царя - всеки мъж с оръжията му в ръка, от дясната до лявата страна на дома, край жертвеника и край храма.

11 A nd they brought out the king’s son, put the crown on him, gave him the Testimony, and made him king. Then Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and said, “ Long live the king!” Death of Athaliah

Тогава изведоха царския син и положиха на него короната, и му връчиха божественото заявление, и го направиха цар. Йодай и синовете му го помазаха и извикаха: Да живее царят!

12 N ow when Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she came to the people in the temple of the Lord.

А Готолия, като чу вика от народа, който се стичаше и хвалеше царя, дойде при народа в Господния дом.

13 W hen she looked, there was the king standing by his pillar at the entrance; and the leaders and the trumpeters were by the king. All the people of the land were rejoicing and blowing trumpets, also the singers with musical instruments, and those who led in praise. So Athaliah tore her clothes and said, “Treason! Treason!”

Тя погледна и видя, че царят стоеше при стълба си във входа и военачалниците, и тръбите при царя, и целият народ от страната се радваше и свиреше с тръбите, а певците и онези, които бяха изкусни да пеят псалми, свиреха с музикалните инструменти. Тогава Готолия раздра дрехите си и извика: Заговор! Заговор!

14 A nd Jehoiada the priest brought out the captains of hundreds who were set over the army, and said to them, “Take her outside under guard, and slay with the sword whoever follows her.” For the priest had said, “Do not kill her in the house of the Lord.”

Свещеник Йодай изведе стотниците, поставени над силите, и им каза: Изведете я вън от редовете и който би я последвал, да бъде убит с меч; защото свещеникът беше казал: Да не я убиете в Господния дом.

15 S o they seized her; and she went by way of the entrance of the Horse Gate into the king’s house, and they killed her there.

И така, отстъпиха ѝ място; и когато тя стигна до входа на царската къща, я убиха там.

16 T hen Jehoiada made a covenant between himself, the people, and the king, that they should be the Lord ’s people.

Тогава Йодай сключи завет между себе си и целия народ и царя, че ще бъдат Господен народ.

17 A nd all the people went to the temple of Baal, and tore it down. They broke in pieces its altars and images, and killed Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars.

И целият народ влезе във Вааловото капище и го събориха, жертвениците му и кумирите му изпотрошиха, а Вааловия жрец Матан убиха пред жертвениците.

18 A lso Jehoiada appointed the oversight of the house of the Lord to the hand of the priests, the Levites, whom David had assigned in the house of the Lord, to offer the burnt offerings of the Lord, as it is written in the Law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, as it was established by David.

Йодай постави службите на Господния дом в ръцете на левитските свещеници, които Давид беше разпределил в Господния дом, за да принасят Господните всеизгаряния, според както е писано в Моисеевия закон, с веселие и песни според Давидовата наредба.

19 A nd he set the gatekeepers at the gates of the house of the Lord, so that no one who was in any way unclean should enter.

Постави и вратарите при портите на Господния дом да не би да влиза някой нечист от каквото и да е нещо.

20 T hen he took the captains of hundreds, the nobles, the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and brought the king down from the house of the Lord; and they went through the Upper Gate to the king’s house, and set the king on the throne of the kingdom.

Тогава, като взе стотниците, високопоставените, началниците на народа и целия народ от страната, изведоха царя от Господния дом; и като минаха през горната порта в царската къща, поставиха царя на царския престол.

21 S o all the people of the land rejoiced; and the city was quiet, for they had slain Athaliah with the sword.

Така целият народ от страната се зарадва и градът се успокои; а Готолия убиха с меч.
