1 А вярата е даване на твърда увереност в онези неща, за които се надяваме, убеждения за неща, които не се виждат.

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

2 З ащото поради нея за старовременните добре се свидетелстваше.

For by it the men of old gained approval.

3 С вяра разбираме, че световете са били създадени с Божието слово, така че видимото не стана от видими неща.

By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.

4 С вяра Авел принесе на Бога жертва, по-добра от Каиновата, чрез която за него се засвидетелства, че е праведен, понеже Бог свидетелства за даровете му; и чрез тази вяра той и след смъртта си още говори.

By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained the testimony that he was righteous, God testifying about his gifts, and through faith, though he is dead, he still speaks.

5 С вяра Енох бе преселен, за да не види смърт, и не се намери, защото Бог го пресели; понеже преди неговото преселване бе засвидетелствано за него, че е бил угоден на Бога.

By faith Enoch was taken up so that he would not see death; and he was not found because God took him up; for he obtained the witness that before his being taken up he was pleasing to God.

6 А без вяра не е възможно да се угоди на Бога, защото който идва при Бога, трябва да вярва, че има Бог и че Той възнаграждава тези, които Го търсят.

And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

7 С вяра Ной, предупреден от Бога за неща, които още не се виждаха, подбуден от страхопочитание, направи ковчег за спасение на дома си; чрез която вяра той осъди света и стана наследник на правдата, която е чрез вяра.

By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his household, by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

8 С вяра Авраам послуша, когато бе повикан, да излезе и да отиде на едно място, което щеше да получи в наследство, и излезе, без да знае къде отива.

By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed by going out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going.

9 С вяра се засели в обещаната земя като в чужда и живееше в шатри, както и Исаак, и Яков, наследниците заедно с него на същото обещание.

By faith he lived as an alien in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, fellow heirs of the same promise;

10 З ащото очакваше града, който има вечни основи, на който архитект и строител е Бог.

for he was looking for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God.

11 С вяра и сама Сара доби сила да зачене в преминала възраст, понеже сметна за верен Този, Който бе дал обещание.

By faith even Sarah herself received ability to conceive, even beyond the proper time of life, since she considered Him faithful who had promised.

12 З атова само от един човек, и той замъртвял, се народи множество, колкото небесните звезди и като крайморския пясък, който не може да се изброи.

Therefore there was born even of one man, and him as good as dead at that, as many descendants as the stars of heaven in number, and innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore.

13 В сички тези хора умряха във вяра, тъй като не бяха получили изпълнението на обещанията; но ги видяха и поздравиха отдалеч, като изповядаха, че са чужденци и пришълци на земята.

All these died in faith, without receiving the promises, but having seen them and having welcomed them from a distance, and having confessed that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.

14 А онези, които говорят така, явно показват, че търсят свое отечество;

For those who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a country of their own.

15 и ако наистина, говорейки така, те са пазели в себе си спомена за онова отечество, от което бяха излезли, щяха да намерят случай да се върнат.

And indeed if they had been thinking of that country from which they went out, they would have had opportunity to return.

16 Н о на дело желаят едно по-добро отечество, т. е. небесното; затова Бог не се срамува от тях да се нарече техен Бог, защото им е приготвил град.

But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for He has prepared a city for them.

17 С вяра Авраам, когато го изпитваше Бог, принесе Исаак в жертва. Да! Онзи, който беше получил обещанията, принасяше единородния си син,

By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was offering up his only begotten son;

18 о нзи, за когото беше казано: "По Исаак ще се наименува твоето потомство",

it was he to whom it was said, “ In Isaac your descendants shall be called.”

19 к ато разсъди, че Бог може да възкресява и от мъртвите, откъдето и по един начин на възкресение го получи обратно.

He considered that God is able to raise people even from the dead, from which he also received him back as a type.

20 С вяра Исаак благослови Яков и Исав - даже за бъдещите неща.

By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau, even regarding things to come.

21 С вяра Яков, на умиране, благослови всеки от Йосифовите синове и се поклони на Бога, подпирайки се на върха на тоягата си.

By faith Jacob, as he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff.

22 С вяра Йосиф, на умиране, спомена за излизането на израелтяните и даде поръчка за костите си.

By faith Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the exodus of the sons of Israel, and gave orders concerning his bones.

23 С вяра, когато се роди Моисей, родителите му го криха три месеца, защото видяха, че беше красиво дете; и не се бояха от царската заповед.

By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.

24 С вяра Моисей, като стана на възраст, се отказа да се нарича син на фараоновата дъщеря

By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter,

25 и предпочете да страда с Божия народ, а не да се наслаждава за кратко време на греха,

choosing rather to endure ill-treatment with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin,

26 к ато разсъди, че укорът за Христос е по-голямо богатство от египетските съкровища; защото гледаше към бъдещата награда.

considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he was looking to the reward.

27 С вяра напусна Египет, без да се бои от царския гняв; защото издържа като човек, който вижда Невидимия.

By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured, as seeing Him who is unseen.

28 С вяра установи Пасхата и поръсването с кръвта, за да не се допре до тях този, който погубваше първородните.

By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of the blood, so that he who destroyed the firstborn would not touch them.

29 С вяра израелтяните минаха през Червеното море като по сухо, на което, като се опитаха и египтяните, се издавиха.

By faith they passed through the Red Sea as though they were passing through dry land; and the Egyptians, when they attempted it, were drowned.

30 Ч рез вяра йерихонските стени паднаха след седемдневно обикаляне около тях.

By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they had been encircled for seven days.

31 С вяра Раав, блудницата, не погина заедно с непокорните, като прие съгледвачите с мир.

By faith Rahab the harlot did not perish along with those who were disobedient, after she had welcomed the spies in peace.

32 И какво повече да кажа? Защото няма да ми стигне времето да приказвам за Гедеон, Варак, Самсон и Ефтай, за Давид, още за Самуил и пророците,

And what more shall I say? For time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets,

33 к оито с вяра побеждаваха царства, раздаваха правда, получаваха обещания, затваряха устата на лъвове,

who by faith conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions,

34 у гасваха силата на огъня, избягваха острието на меча, оздравяваха от болести, ставаха силни във война, обръщаха в бяг чужди войски.

quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight.

35 Ж ени приемаха мъртвите си възкресени; а други бяха мъчени, защото, за да получат по-добро възкресение, те не приемаха да бъдат избавени.

Women received back their dead by resurrection; and others were tortured, not accepting their release, so that they might obtain a better resurrection;

36 Д руги пък изпитваха присмех и бичувания, а още и окови, и тъмници;

and others experienced mockings and scourgings, yes, also chains and imprisonment.

37 с камъни биваха убити, с трион прерязани, с мъки мъчени; умираха заклани с нож, скитаха се в овчи и кози кожи и търпяха лишения, бедствия и страдания;

They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were tempted, they were put to death with the sword; they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, ill-treated

38 т е, за които светът не беше достоен, се скитаха по пустините и планините, по пещерите и рововете на земята.

( men of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts and mountains and caves and holes in the ground.

39 Н о всички тези, ако и да бяха засвидетелствани чрез вярата им, пак не получиха изпълнението на обещанието,

And all these, having gained approval through their faith, did not receive what was promised,

40 д а не би да постигнат съвършенство без нас; защото за нас Бог промисли нещо по-добро.

because God had provided something better for us, so that apart from us they would not be made perfect.
