1 Т огава Самуил каза на целия Израел: Ето, послушах ви за всичко, което ми казахте, и поставих цар над вас.

Then Samuel said to all Israel, “Behold, I have listened to your voice in all that you said to me and I have appointed a king over you.

2 И сега, ето, царят ви предвожда; а аз съм стар и белокос и синовете ми са с вас; и животът ми от младостта ми до днес е познат на всички вас.

Now, here is the king walking before you, but I am old and gray, and behold my sons are with you. And I have walked before you from my youth even to this day.

3 Е то ме; свидетелствайте против мене пред Господа и пред помазаника Му: на кого съм взел вола, на кого съм взел осела, кого съм онеправдал, кого съм притеснил или от ръката на кого съм взел подкуп, за да заслепя очите си с него, за да ви върна взетото?

Here I am; bear witness against me before the Lord and His anointed. Whose ox have I taken, or whose donkey have I taken, or whom have I defrauded? Whom have I oppressed, or from whose hand have I taken a bribe to blind my eyes with it? I will restore it to you.”

4 А те отговориха: Не си ни онеправдал, нито си ни притеснил, нито си взел нещо от ръката на някого.

They said, “You have not defrauded us or oppressed us or taken anything from any man’s hand.”

5 Т ой им каза: Свидетел ви е Господ, свидетел е и Неговият помазаник днес, че не намерихте нищо в ръката ми. И те отговориха: Свидетел е.

He said to them, “The Lord is witness against you, and His anointed is witness this day that you have found nothing in my hand.” And they said, “ He is witness.”

6 Т огава Самуил каза на народа: Господ е, Който постави Моисей и Аарон и изведе бащите ви от Египетската земя.

Then Samuel said to the people, “It is the Lord who appointed Moses and Aaron and who brought your fathers up from the land of Egypt.

7 И така, сега застанете, за да разсъждавам с вас пред Господа за всички справедливи дела, които Господ извърши спрямо вас и бащите ви.

So now, take your stand, that I may plead with you before the Lord concerning all the righteous acts of the Lord which He did for you and your fathers.

8 К огато Яков дойде в Египет и бащите ви извикаха към Господа, Господ прати Моисей и Аарон, които изведоха бащите ви от Египет и ги заселиха на това място.

When Jacob went into Egypt and your fathers cried out to the Lord, then the Lord sent Moses and Aaron who brought your fathers out of Egypt and settled them in this place.

9 Т е обаче забравиха Господа, своя Бог. Затова Той ги предаде в ръката на Сисара, асорския военачалник, на филистимците и на моавския цар, които воюваха против тях.

But they forgot the Lord their God, so He sold them into the hand of Sisera, captain of the army of Hazor, and into the hand of the Philistines and into the hand of the king of Moab, and they fought against them.

10 Т огава те извикаха към Господа: Съгрешихме, понеже изоставихме Господа и служихме на ваалимите и астартите. Избави ни сега от неприятелите ни и ще Ти служим.

They cried out to the Lord and said, ‘We have sinned because we have forsaken the Lord and have served the Baals and the Ashtaroth; but now deliver us from the hands of our enemies, and we will serve You.’

11 И Господ изпрати Йероваал, Водан, Ефтай и Самуил и ви избави от ръката на неприятелите ви отвсякъде; и вие живяхте в безопасност.

Then the Lord sent Jerubbaal and Bedan and Jephthah and Samuel, and delivered you from the hands of your enemies all around, so that you lived in security. The King Confirmed

12 Н о когато видяхте, че Наас, царят на амонците, дойде против вас, ми казахте: Не. Нека цар да царува над нас - когато Господ, вашият Бог, ви беше цар.

When you saw that Nahash the king of the sons of Ammon came against you, you said to me, ‘ No, but a king shall reign over us,’ although the Lord your God was your king.

13 И така, сега ето царя, когото искахте и когото избрахте! И, ето, Господ постави цар над вас.

Now therefore, here is the king whom you have chosen, whom you have asked for, and behold, the Lord has set a king over you.

14 А ко се боите от Господа и Му служите, ако слушате гласа Му и не въставате против Господнето повеление, ако следвате Господа, вашия Бог, както вие, така и царят, който царува над вас, ще бъде добре;

If you will fear the Lord and serve Him, and listen to His voice and not rebel against the command of the Lord, then both you and also the king who reigns over you will follow the Lord your God.

15 н о ако не слушате Господния глас, ако въставате против Господнето повеление, тогава Господнята ръка ще бъде против вас, както беше против бащите ви.

If you will not listen to the voice of the Lord, but rebel against the command of the Lord, then the hand of the Lord will be against you, as it was against your fathers.

16 И така, сега застанете и вижте това велико дело, което Господ ще направи пред очите ви.

Even now, take your stand and see this great thing which the Lord will do before your eyes.

17 Н е е ли днес жътва на пшеницата? Ще призова Господа; и Той ще прати гръмотевици и дъжд, за да разберете и видите, че злото, което направихте, като си поискахте цар, е голямо пред Господа.

Is it not the wheat harvest today? I will call to the Lord, that He may send thunder and rain. Then you will know and see that your wickedness is great which you have done in the sight of the Lord by asking for yourselves a king.”

18 Т огава Самуил призова Господа. И Той прати мълнии и дъжд през същия ден; и целият народ се уплаши твърде много от Господа и от Самуил.

So Samuel called to the Lord, and the Lord sent thunder and rain that day; and all the people greatly feared the Lord and Samuel.

19 И целият народ каза на Самуил: Помоли се за слугите си на Господа, твоя Бог, за да не измрем; тъй като върху всичките си грехове прибавихме и това зло да искаме за себе си цар.

Then all the people said to Samuel, “ Pray for your servants to the Lord your God, so that we may not die, for we have added to all our sins this evil by asking for ourselves a king.”

20 А Самуил отговори на народа: Не бойте се. Вие наистина сторихте цялото това зло, но не се отклонявайте от това да следвате Господа, а служете на Господа от все сърце.

Samuel said to the people, “Do not fear. You have committed all this evil, yet do not turn aside from following the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart.

21 Н е се отклонявайте, защото тогава ще идете след нищожни богове, които не могат да ползват или да избавят, понеже са суетни.

You must not turn aside, for then you would go after futile things which can not profit or deliver, because they are futile.

22 А Господ няма да изостави народа Си заради великото Си Име, понеже Господ благоволи да ви направи Свой народ.

For the Lord will not abandon His people on account of His great name, because the Lord has been pleased to make you a people for Himself.

23 А колкото до мене, да не даде Бог да съгреша пред Господа, като престана да се моля за вас! Но ще ви уча на добрия и правия път.

Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by ceasing to pray for you; but I will instruct you in the good and right way.

24 С амо имайте страх от Господа и Му служете искрено, от все сърце; защото помислете колко велики дела извърши Той за вас.

Only fear the Lord and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you.

25 Н о ако вършите зло, тогава и вие, и царят ви ще загинете.

But if you still do wickedly, both you and your king will be swept away.”
