1 Т огава всички израелтяни излязоха. Цялото общество от Дан до Вирсавее заедно с Галаадската земя се събра като един човек пред Господа в Масфа.

Then all the sons of Israel from Dan to Beersheba, including the land of Gilead, came out, and the congregation assembled as one man to the Lord at Mizpah.

2 И хора от всички краища, всичките Израелеви племена, четиристотин хиляди мъже пехотинци, които носеха меч, се присъединиха към събранието на Божия народ.

The chiefs of all the people, even of all the tribes of Israel, took their stand in the assembly of the people of God, 400, 000 foot soldiers who drew the sword.

3 И Вениаминовите синове чуха, че израелтяните отишли в Масфа. Израелтяните казаха: Разкажете ни как стана това зло.

(Now the sons of Benjamin heard that the sons of Israel had gone up to Mizpah.) And the sons of Israel said, “Tell us, how did this wickedness take place?”

4 Л евитът, мъжът на убитата жена, им отговори: Отбих се в Гавая Вениаминова заедно с наложницата ми, за да пренощуваме.

So the Levite, the husband of the woman who was murdered, answered and said, “I came with my concubine to spend the night at Gibeah which belongs to Benjamin.

5 А гавайските мъже ме нападнаха и през нощта обиколиха къщата, в която бях. Мен искаха да убият, а наложницата ми изнасилваха и тя умря.

But the men of Gibeah rose up against me and surrounded the house at night because of me. They intended to kill me; instead, they ravished my concubine so that she died.

6 З атова взех тялото на наложницата си, разсякох го и го изпратих по всички предели на Израелевото наследство; защото те извършиха разврат и безумие в Израел.

And I took hold of my concubine and cut her in pieces and sent her throughout the land of Israel’s inheritance; for they have committed a lewd and disgraceful act in Israel.

7 Г ледайте, вие, израелтяните, всички вие, съветвайте се тук помежду си и дайте мнението си.

Behold, all you sons of Israel, give your advice and counsel here.”

8 Т огава целият народ в пълно единомислие каза: Никой от нас няма да отиде в шатъра си, нито някой от нас ще се върне в къщата си,

Then all the people arose as one man, saying, “Not one of us will go to his tent, nor will any of us return to his house.

9 а ето какво ще направим на Гавая - ще отидем против нея по жребий;

But now this is the thing which we will do to Gibeah; we will go up against it by lot.

10 и ще вземем по десет мъже на сто от всички Израелеви племена и по сто на хиляда, и по хиляда на десет хиляди, които да донесат храна на народа. Като стигнат в Гавая Вениаминова, да сторят с тях според всичкото безумие, което те извършиха в Израел.

And we will take 10 men out of 100 throughout the tribes of Israel, and 100 out of 1, 000, and 1, 000 out of 10, 000 to supply food for the people, that when they come to Gibeah of Benjamin, they may punish them for all the disgraceful acts that they have committed in Israel.”

11 И така, против града се събраха всички Израелеви мъже, обединени като един човек.

Thus all the men of Israel were gathered against the city, united as one man.

12 Т огава Израелевите племена пратиха мъже по цялото Вениаминово племе да казват: Какво е това нечестие, което е било извършено при вас?

Then the tribes of Israel sent men through the entire tribe of Benjamin, saying, “What is this wickedness that has taken place among you?

13 С ега предайте хората, онези развратници, които са в Гавая, за да ги избием и да премахнем това зло от Израел. Но Вениамин отказа да послуша гласа на братята си, израелтяните.

Now then, deliver up the men, the worthless fellows in Gibeah, that we may put them to death and remove this wickedness from Israel.” But the sons of Benjamin would not listen to the voice of their brothers, the sons of Israel.

14 В ениаминовите синове се събраха от градовете си в Гавая, за да излязат на бой против израелтяните.

The sons of Benjamin gathered from the cities to Gibeah, to go out to battle against the sons of Israel.

15 И в онзи ден Вениаминовите синове, които бяха излезли от градовете, като се преброиха, бяха двадесет и шест хиляди мъже, които носеха меч, без жителите на Гавая, които отделно бяха седемстотин отбрани мъже.

From the cities on that day the sons of Benjamin were numbered, 26, 000 men who draw the sword, besides the inhabitants of Gibeah who were numbered, 700 choice men.

16 М ежду целия този народ имаше седемстотин отбрани мъже леваци, които всички можеха с прашка да хвърлят камъни с точност до косъм и всеки път да улучват.

Out of all these people 700 choice men were left-handed; each one could sling a stone at a hair and not miss.

17 А без Вениамин Израелевите мъже, като се преброиха, бяха четиристотин хиляди мъже, които носеха меч. Всички те бяха военни мъже.

Then the men of Israel besides Benjamin were numbered, 400, 000 men who draw the sword; all these were men of war. Civil War, Benjamin Defeated

18 Т огава израелтяните тръгнаха, излязоха при Ветил и се допитаха до Бога: Кой от нас пръв да излезе на бой против Вениаминовите синове? А Господ каза: Юда да излезе пръв.

Now the sons of Israel arose, went up to Bethel, and inquired of God and said, “Who shall go up first for us to battle against the sons of Benjamin?” Then the Lord said, “Judah shall go up first.”

19 И така, на сутринта израелтяните станаха и разположиха стан против Гавая.

So the sons of Israel arose in the morning and camped against Gibeah.

20 И зраелевите мъже излязоха на бой против Вениамин и се опълчиха против тях в Гавая.

The men of Israel went out to battle against Benjamin, and the men of Israel arrayed for battle against them at Gibeah.

21 А Вениаминовите синове излязоха от Гавая и в онзи ден повалиха на земята двадесет и две хиляди мъже от Израел.

Then the sons of Benjamin came out of Gibeah and felled to the ground on that day 22, 000 men of Israel.

22 Н о народът, Израелевите мъже, се съвзеха и отново се опълчиха на бой, на мястото, където бяха се били първия ден.

But the people, the men of Israel, encouraged themselves and arrayed for battle again in the place where they had arrayed themselves the first day.

23 З ащото израелтяните бяха застанали и бяха плакали пред Господа до вечерта, и се бяха допитали до Господа: Да влезем ли пак в бой против потомците на брат ни Вениамин? И Господ беше казал: Влезте в бой против тях.

The sons of Israel went up and wept before the Lord until evening, and inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall we again draw near for battle against the sons of my brother Benjamin?” And the Lord said, “Go up against him.”

24 И така, на втория ден израелтяните се приближиха до Вениаминовите синове.

Then the sons of Israel came against the sons of Benjamin the second day.

25 А на втория ден Вениамин излезе от Гавая против тях и повали на земята още осемнадесет хиляди мъже от израелтяните; всички те носеха меч.

Benjamin went out against them from Gibeah the second day and felled to the ground again 18, 000 men of the sons of Israel; all these drew the sword.

26 Т огава всички израелтяни и целият народ отидоха във Ветил и плакаха, и седнаха там пред Господа, постиха в онзи ден до вечерта; и принесоха всеизгаряния и мирни жертви пред Господа.

Then all the sons of Israel and all the people went up and came to Bethel and wept; thus they remained there before the Lord and fasted that day until evening. And they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord.

27 П осле израелтяните се допитаха до Господа (защото през онези дни ковчегът на Божия завет беше там

The sons of Israel inquired of the Lord (for the ark of the covenant of God was there in those days,

28 и Финеес, син на Елеазар, Аароновия син, служеше пред него през онези дни) и запитаха: Да влезем ли пак в бой против потомците на брат ни Вениамин или да престанем? И Господ отговори: Възлезте, защото утре ще ги предам в ръката ви.

and Phinehas the son of Eleazar, Aaron’s son, stood before it to minister in those days), saying, “Shall I yet again go out to battle against the sons of my brother Benjamin, or shall I cease?” And the Lord said, “Go up, for tomorrow I will deliver them into your hand.”

29 Т огава Израел постави засада около Гавая.

So Israel set men in ambush around Gibeah.

30 И на третия ден израелтяните излязоха против Вениаминовите синове и се опълчиха против Гавая, както предишните дни.

The sons of Israel went up against the sons of Benjamin on the third day and arrayed themselves against Gibeah as at other times.

31 А Вениаминовите синове излязоха против народа, отдалечиха се от града и започнаха, както в предишните дни да поразяват хората по пътищата (от които единият отива към Ветил, а другият към Гавая), и убиха в полето около тридесет мъже от Израел.

The sons of Benjamin went out against the people and were drawn away from the city, and they began to strike and kill some of the people as at other times, on the highways, one of which goes up to Bethel and the other to Gibeah, and in the field, about thirty men of Israel.

32 З атова Вениаминовите синове си помислиха: Те падат пред нас, както преди това. А израелтяните си казаха: Да побегнем и да ги отвлечем от града към пътищата.

The sons of Benjamin said, “They are struck down before us, as at the first.” But the sons of Israel said, “Let us flee that we may draw them away from the city to the highways.”

33 Т огава всички Израелеви мъже станаха от мястото си и се опълчиха във Ваал-тамар, и засадата на Израел изскочи от прикритието си, от Гавайската ливада.

Then all the men of Israel arose from their place and arrayed themselves at Baal-tamar; and the men of Israel in ambush broke out of their place, even out of Maareh-geba.

34 И връхлетяха против Гавая десет хиляди отбрани мъже от целия Израел и битката ставаше ожесточена; но Вениаминовите синове не подозираха, че бедата ги застигаше.

When ten thousand choice men from all Israel came against Gibeah, the battle became fierce; but Benjamin did not know that disaster was close to them.

35 З ащото Господ порази Вениамин пред Израел; в онзи ден израелтяните погубиха от Вениаминовите синове двадесет и пет хиляди и сто мъже; те всичките носеха меч.

And the Lord struck Benjamin before Israel, so that the sons of Israel destroyed 25, 100 men of Benjamin that day, all who draw the sword.

36 И Вениаминовите синове видяха, че бяха поразени. Защото Израелевите мъже отстъпиха пред Вениаминовите синове, като разчитаха на засадата, която бяха поставили против Гавая.

So the sons of Benjamin saw that they were defeated. When the men of Israel gave ground to Benjamin because they relied on the men in ambush whom they had set against Gibeah,

37 Т огава засадата връхлетя върху Гавая, след като бяха изчакали, и поразиха целия град с острието на меча.

the men in ambush hurried and rushed against Gibeah; the men in ambush also deployed and struck all the city with the edge of the sword.

38 А Израелевите мъже бяха определили знак с воините, които бяха в засадата - да се издигне от града голям стълб дим.

Now the appointed sign between the men of Israel and the men in ambush was that they would make a great cloud of smoke rise from the city.

39 И когато израелтяните отстъпваха в битката, Вениамин започна да поразява и изби от тях около тридесет мъже, защото си казваха: Наистина те падат пред нас, както при първата битка.

Then the men of Israel turned in the battle, and Benjamin began to strike and kill about thirty men of Israel, for they said, “Surely they are defeated before us, as in the first battle.”

40 Н о когато облакът почна да се издига от града под формата на димен стълб, Вениаминовите синове погледнаха назад и видяха, че от целия град се издигаше дим към небето.

But when the cloud began to rise from the city in a column of smoke, Benjamin looked behind them; and behold, the whole city was going up in smoke to heaven.

41 Т огава Израелевите мъже се върнаха; и Вениаминовите мъже се смутиха, защото разбраха, че бедата ги постигна.

Then the men of Israel turned, and the men of Benjamin were terrified; for they saw that disaster was close to them.

42 З атова се обърнаха да бягат пред Израелевите мъже към пътя за пустинята, но битката ги притисна. Израелтяните погубваха пред градовете онези, които излизаха от тях.

Therefore, they turned their backs before the men of Israel toward the direction of the wilderness, but the battle overtook them while those who came out of the cities destroyed them in the midst of them.

43 Т е обградиха Вениаминовите синове, гониха ги и ги тъпкаха без съпротива до Гавая на изток.

They surrounded Benjamin, pursued them without rest and trod them down opposite Gibeah toward the east.

44 О т Вениамин паднаха осемнадесет хиляди мъже - всичките храбри мъже.

Thus 18, 000 men of Benjamin fell; all these were valiant warriors.

45 И така, те се обърнаха и побегнаха към пустинята в канарата Римон. А израелтяните застигнаха изоставащи от тях по пътищата - пет хиляди мъже, после ги гониха до Гидом и там убиха още две хиляди мъже.

The rest turned and fled toward the wilderness to the rock of Rimmon, but they caught 5, 000 of them on the highways and overtook them at Gidom and killed 2, 000 of them.

46 Т ака всички, които паднаха в онзи ден от Вениамин, бяха двадесет и пет хиляди мъже, които носеха меч - всичките храбри мъже.

So all of Benjamin who fell that day were 25, 000 men who draw the sword; all these were valiant warriors.

47 А шестстотин мъже побегнаха към пустинята, в канарата Римон; и седяха в канарата Римон четири месеца.

But 600 men turned and fled toward the wilderness to the rock of Rimmon, and they remained at the rock of Rimmon four months.

48 А Израелевите мъже се нахвърлиха върху Вениаминовите синове и ги поразиха с острието на меча - както жителите на градовете, така и добитъка, и всичко, което се намираше там; и опожариха всички градове, които намираха.

The men of Israel then turned back against the sons of Benjamin and struck them with the edge of the sword, both the entire city with the cattle and all that they found; they also set on fire all the cities which they found.
