Злосторникът слуша беззаконните устни, И лъжецът дава ухо на лошия език.

5 W hoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.

Който се присмива на сиромаха, нанася позор на Създателя му, И който се радва на бедствия, няма да остане ненаказан.

6 C hildren's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.

Чада на чада са венец на старците, И бащите са слава на чадата им.

7 E xcellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.

8 A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.

10 A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool.

Изобличението прави повече впечатление на благоразумния, Нежели сто бича на безумния.

11 A n evil man seeketh only rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.

Злият човек търси само бунтове, Затова жесток пратеник е изпратен против него.

12 L et a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly.

По-добре да срещне някого мечка лишена от малките си, Отколкото безумен човек в буйството му.

13 W hoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.

14 T he beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.

16 W herefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing he hath no heart to it?

Що ползват парите в ръката на безумния, за да купи мъдрост, Като няма ум?

17 A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

Приятел обича всякога И е роден, като брат за <във> време на нужда.

18 A man void of understanding striketh hands, and becometh surety in the presence of his friend.

Човек без разум дава ръка И става поръчител на ближния си.

19 H e loveth transgression that loveth strife: and he that exalteth his gate seeketh destruction.

Който обича препирни обича престъпления, И който построи високо вратата си, търси пагуба.

20 H e that hath a froward heart findeth no good: and he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief.

Който има опако сърце не намира добро, И който има извратен език изпада в нещастие.

21 H e that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow: and the father of a fool hath no joy.

Който ражда безумно <чадо> ще има скръб, И бащата на глупавия няма радост.

22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Веселото сърце е благотворно лекарство, А унилият дух изсушава костите.

23 A wicked man taketh a gift out of the bosom to pervert the ways of judgment.

Нечестивият приема подарък изпод пазуха, За да изкриви пътищата на правосъдието.

24 W isdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.

Мъдростта е пред лицето на разумния, А очите на безумния са към краищата на земята.

25 A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him.

Безумен син е тъга на баща си И горест на тая която го е родила.

26 A lso to punish the just is not good, nor to strike princes for equity.

Не е добре да се глобява праведния, <Нито> да се бие благородния, за справедливостта <им>.

27 H e that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.

Който щади думите си е умен, И търпеливият човек е благоразумен.

28 E ven a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.

Даже и безумният, когато мълчи, се счита за мъдър, И когато затваря устата си <се счита> за разумен.
