1 D ieu bénit Noé et ses fils, et leur dit: Soyez féconds, multipliez, et remplissez la terre.

And God pronounced a blessing upon Noah and his sons and said to them, Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.

2 V ous serez un sujet de crainte et d'effroi pour tout animal de la terre, pour tout oiseau du ciel, pour tout ce qui se meut sur la terre, et pour tous les poissons de la mer: ils sont livrés entre vos mains.

And the fear of you and the dread and terror of you shall be upon every beast of the land, every bird of the air, all that creeps upon the ground, and upon all the fish of the sea; they are delivered into your hand.

3 T out ce qui se meut et qui a vie vous servira de nourriture: je vous donne tout cela comme l'herbe verte.

Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you; and as I gave you the green vegetables and plants, I give you everything.

4 S eulement, vous ne mangerez point de chair avec son âme, avec son sang.

But you shall not eat flesh with the life of it, which is its blood.

5 S achez-le aussi, je redemanderai le sang de vos âmes, je le redemanderai à tout animal; et je redemanderai l'âme de l'homme à l'homme, à l'homme qui est son frère.

And surely for your lifeblood I will require an accounting; from every beast I will require it; and from man, from every man I will require a reckoning.

6 S i quelqu'un verse le sang de l'homme, par l'homme son sang sera versé; car Dieu a fait l'homme à son image.

Whoever sheds man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God He made man.

7 E t vous, soyez féconds et multipliez, répandez-vous sur la terre et multipliez sur elle.

And you, be fruitful and multiply; bring forth abundantly on the earth and multiply on it.

8 D ieu parla encore à Noé et à ses fils avec lui, en disant:

Then God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him, saying,

9 V oici, j'établis mon alliance avec vous et avec votre postérité après vous;

Behold, I establish My covenant or pledge with you and with your descendants after you

10 a vec tous les êtres vivants qui sont avec vous, tant les oiseaux que le bétail et tous les animaux de la terre, soit avec tous ceux qui sont sortis de l'arche, soit avec tous les animaux de la terre.

And with every living creature that is with you—whether the birds, the livestock, or the wild beasts of the earth along with you, as many as came out of the ark—every animal of the earth.

11 J 'établis mon alliance avec vous: aucune chair ne sera plus exterminée par les eaux du déluge, et il n'y aura plus de déluge pour détruire la terre.

I will establish My covenant or pledge with you: Never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of a flood; neither shall there ever again be a flood to destroy the earth and make it corrupt.

12 E t Dieu dit: C'est ici le signe de l'alliance que j'établis entre moi et vous, et tous les êtres vivants qui sont avec vous, pour les générations à toujours:

And God said, This is the token of the covenant (solemn pledge) which I am making between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations:

13 j 'ai placé mon arc dans la nue, et il servira de signe d'alliance entre moi et la terre.

I set My bow in the cloud, and it shall be a token or sign of a covenant or solemn pledge between Me and the earth.

14 Q uand j'aurai rassemblé des nuages au-dessus de la terre, l'arc paraîtra dans la nue;

And it shall be that when I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds,

15 e t je me souviendrai de mon alliance entre moi et vous, et tous les êtres vivants, de toute chair, et les eaux ne deviendront plus un déluge pour détruire toute chair.

I will remember My covenant or solemn pledge which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters will no more become a flood to destroy and make all flesh corrupt.

16 L 'arc sera dans la nue; et je le regarderai, pour me souvenir de l'alliance perpétuelle entre Dieu et tous les êtres vivants, de toute chair qui est sur la terre.

When the bow is in the clouds and I look upon it, I will remember the everlasting covenant or pledge between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.

17 E t Dieu dit à Noé: Tel est le signe de l'alliance que j'établis entre moi et toute chair qui est sur la terre.

And God said to Noah, This is the token or sign of the covenant or solemn pledge which I have established between Me and all flesh upon the earth.

18 L es fils de Noé, qui sortirent de l'arche, étaient Sem, Cham et Japhet. Cham fut le père de Canaan.

The sons of Noah who went forth from the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Ham was the father of Canaan.

19 C e sont là les trois fils de Noé, et c'est leur postérité qui peupla toute la terre.

These are the three sons of Noah, and from them the whole earth was overspread and stocked with inhabitants.

20 N oé commença à cultiver la terre, et planta de la vigne.

And Noah began to cultivate the ground, and he planted a vineyard.

21 I l but du vin, s'enivra, et se découvrit au milieu de sa tente.

And he drank of the wine and became drunk, and he was uncovered and lay naked in his tent.

22 C ham, père de Canaan, vit la nudité de son père, et il le rapporta dehors à ses deux frères.

And Ham, the father of Canaan, glanced at and saw the nakedness of his father and told his two brothers outside.

23 A lors Sem et Japhet prirent le manteau, le mirent sur leurs épaules, marchèrent à reculons, et couvrirent la nudité de leur père; comme leur visage était détourné, ils ne virent point la nudité de leur père.

So Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid it upon the shoulders of both, and went backward and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they did not see their father’s nakedness.

24 L orsque Noé se réveilla de son vin, il apprit ce que lui avait fait son fils cadet.

When Noah awoke from his wine, and knew the thing which his youngest son had done to him,

25 E t il dit: Maudit soit Canaan! qu'il soit l'esclave des esclaves de ses frères!

He exclaimed, Cursed be Canaan! He shall be the servant of servants to his brethren!

26 I l dit encore: Béni soit l'Éternel, Dieu de Sem, et que Canaan soit leur esclave!

He also said, Blessed be the Lord, the God of Shem! And blessed by the Lord my God be Shem! And let Canaan be his servant.

27 Q ue Dieu étende les possessions de Japhet, qu'il habite dans les tentes de Sem, et que Canaan soit leur esclave!

May God enlarge Japheth; and let him dwell in the tents of Shem, and let Canaan be his servant.

28 N oé vécut, après le déluge, trois cent cinquante ans.

And Noah lived after the flood 350 years.

29 T ous les jours de Noé furent de neuf cent cinquante ans; puis il mourut.

All the days of Noah were 950 years, and he died.
