1 ( 68: 1) Au chef des chantres. De David. Psaume. Cantique. (68: 2) Dieu se lève, ses ennemis se dispersent, Et ses adversaires fuient devant sa face.

God is beginning to arise, and His enemies to scatter; let them also who hate Him flee before Him!

2 ( 68: 3) Comme la fumée se dissipe, tu les dissipes; Comme la cire se fond au feu, Les méchants disparaissent devant Dieu.

As smoke is driven away, so drive them away; as wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish before the presence of God.

3 ( 68: 4) Mais les justes se réjouissent, ils triomphent devant Dieu, Ils ont des transports d'allégresse.

But let the righteous be glad; let them be in high spirits and glory before God, yes, let them rejoice!

4 ( 68: 5) Chantez à Dieu, célébrez son nom! Frayez le chemin à celui qui s'avance à travers les plaines! L'Éternel est son nom: réjouissez-vous devant lui!

Sing to God, sing praises to His name, cast up a highway for Him Who rides through the deserts—His name is the Lord—be in high spirits and glory before Him!

5 ( 68: 6) Le père des orphelins, le défenseur des veuves, C'est Dieu dans sa demeure sainte.

A father of the fatherless and a judge and protector of the widows is God in His holy habitation.

6 ( 68: 7) Dieu donne une famille à ceux qui étaient abandonnés, Il délivre les captifs et les rend heureux; Les rebelles seuls habitent des lieux arides.

God places the solitary in families and gives the desolate a home in which to dwell; He leads the prisoners out to prosperity; but the rebellious dwell in a parched land.

7 ( 68: 8) O Dieu! quand tu sortis à la tête de ton peuple, Quand tu marchais dans le désert, -Pause.

O God, when You went forth before Your people, when You marched through the wilderness— Selah!—

8 ( 68: 9) La terre trembla, les cieux se fondirent devant Dieu, Le Sinaï s'ébranla devant Dieu, le Dieu d'Israël.

The earth trembled, the heavens also poured down at the presence of God; yonder Sinai quaked at the presence of God, the God of Israel.

9 ( 68: 10) Tu fis tomber une pluie bienfaisante, ô Dieu! Tu fortifias ton héritage épuisé.

You, O God, did send a plentiful rain; You did restore and confirm Your heritage when it languished and was weary.

10 ( 68: 11) Ton peuple établit sa demeure dans le pays Que ta bonté, ô Dieu! tu avais préparé pour les malheureux.

Your flock found a dwelling place in it; You, O God, in Your goodness did provide for the poor and needy.

11 ( 68: 12) Le Seigneur dit une parole, Et les messagères de bonnes nouvelles sont une grande armée: -

The Lord gives the word; the women who bear and publish are a great host.

12 ( 68: 13) Les rois des armées fuient, fuient, Et celle qui reste à la maison partage le butin.

The kings of the enemies’ armies, they flee, they flee! She who tarries at home divides the spoil.

13 ( 68: 14) Tandis que vous reposez au milieu des étables, Les ailes de la colombe sont couvertes d'argent, Et son plumage est d'un jaune d'or. -

Though you may lie among the sheepfolds the wings of a dove are covered with silver, its pinions excessively green with gold.

14 ( 68: 15) Lorsque le Tout Puissant dispersa les rois dans le pays, La terre devint blanche comme la neige du Tsalmon.

When the Almighty scattered kings in, it was as when it snows on Zalmon.

15 ( 68: 16) Montagnes de Dieu, montagnes de Basan, Montagnes aux cimes nombreuses, montagnes de Basan,

Is Mount Bashan the high mountain of summits, Mount Bashan the mount of God?

16 ( 68: 17) Pourquoi, montagnes aux cimes nombreuses, avez-vous de l'envie Contre la montagne que Dieu a voulue pour résidence? L'Éternel n'en fera pas moins sa demeure à perpétuité.

Why do you look with grudging and envy, you many-peaked mountains, at the mountain which God has desired for His dwelling place? Yes, the Lord will dwell in it forever.

17 ( 68: 18) Les chars de l'Éternel se comptent par vingt mille, Par milliers et par milliers; Le Seigneur est au milieu d'eux, le Sinaï est dans le sanctuaire.

The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands upon thousands. The Lord is among them as He was in Sinai, in the Holy Place (the sanctuary in Jerusalem).

18 ( 68: 19) Tu es monté dans les hauteurs, tu as emmené des captifs, Tu as pris en don des hommes; Les rebelles habiteront aussi près de l'Éternel Dieu.

You have ascended on high. You have led away captive a train of vanquished foes; You have received gifts of men, yes, of the rebellious also, that the Lord God might dwell there with them.

19 ( 68: 20) Béni soit le Seigneur chaque jour! Quand on nous accable, Dieu nous délivre. -Pause.

Blessed be the Lord, Who bears our burdens and carries us day by day, even the God Who is our salvation! Selah!

20 ( 68: 21) Dieu est pour nous le Dieu des délivrances, Et l'Éternel, le Seigneur, peut nous garantir de la mort.

God is to us a God of deliverances and salvation; and to God the Lord belongs escape from death.

21 ( 68: 22) Oui, Dieu brisera la tête de ses ennemis, Le sommet de la tête de ceux qui vivent dans le péché.

But God will shatter the heads of His enemies, the hairy scalp of such a one as goes on still in his trespasses and guilty ways.

22 ( 68: 23) Le Seigneur dit: Je les ramènerai de Basan, Je les ramènerai du fond de la mer,

The Lord said, I will bring back from Bashan; I will bring them back from the depths of the Sea,

23 ( 68: 24) Afin que tu plonges ton pied dans le sang, Et que la langue de tes chiens ait sa part des ennemis.

That you may crush them, dipping your foot in blood, that the tongues of your dogs may have their share from the foe.

24 ( 68: 25) Ils voient ta marche, ô Dieu! La marche de mon Dieu, de mon roi, dans le sanctuaire.

They see Your goings, O God, even the of my God, my King, into the sanctuary.

25 ( 68: 26) En tête vont les chanteurs, puis ceux qui jouent des instruments, Au milieu de jeunes filles battant du tambourin.

The singers go in front, the players on instruments last; between them the maidens are playing on tambourines.

26 ( 68: 27) Bénissez Dieu dans les assemblées, Bénissez le Seigneur, descendants d'Israël!

Bless, give thanks, and gratefully praise God in full congregations, even the Lord, O you who are from the fountain of Israel.

27 ( 68: 28) Là sont Benjamin, le plus jeune, qui domine sur eux, Les chefs de Juda et leur troupe, Les chefs de Zabulon, les chefs de Nephthali.

There is little Benjamin in the lead, the princes of Judah and their company, the princes of Zebulun, and the princes of Naphtali.

28 ( 68: 29) Ton Dieu ordonne que tu sois puissant; Affermis, ô Dieu, ce que tu as fait pour nous!

Your God has commanded your strength; O God, display Your might and strengthen what You have wrought for us!

29 ( 68: 30) De ton temple tu règnes sur Jérusalem; Les rois t'apporteront des présents.

for Your temple at Jerusalem kings shall bring gifts to You.

30 ( 68: 31) Épouvante l'animal des roseaux, La troupe des taureaux avec les veaux des peuples, Qui se prosternent avec des pièces d'argent! Disperse les peuples qui prennent plaisir à combattre!

Rebuke the wild beasts dwelling among the reeds, the herd of bulls (the leaders) with the calves of the peoples; trample underfoot those who lust for tribute money; scatter the peoples who delight in war.

31 ( 68: 32) Des grands viennent de l'Égypte; L'Éthiopie accourt, les mains tendues vers Dieu.

Princes shall come out of Egypt; Ethiopia shall hasten to stretch out her hands to God.

32 ( 68: 33) Royaumes de la terre, chantez à Dieu, Célébrez le Seigneur! -Pause.

Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth, sing praises to the Lord! Selah!

33 ( 68: 34) Chantez à celui qui s'avance dans les cieux, les cieux éternels! Voici, il fait entendre sa voix, sa voix puissante.

to Him Who rides upon the heavens, the ancient heavens; behold, He sends forth His voice, His mighty voice.

34 ( 68: 35) Rendez gloire à Dieu! Sa majesté est sur Israël, et sa force dans les cieux.

Ascribe power and strength to God; His majesty is over Israel, and His strength and might are in the skies.

35 ( 68: 36) De ton sanctuaire, ô Dieu! tu es redoutable. Le Dieu d'Israël donne à son peuple la force et la puissance. Béni soit Dieu!

O God, awe-inspiring, profoundly impressive, and terrible are You out of Your holy places; the God of Israel Himself gives strength and fullness of might to His people. Blessed be God!
