1 J 'aime l'Éternel, car il entend Ma voix, mes supplications;

I love the Lord, because He has heard my voice and my supplications.

2 C ar il a penché son oreille vers moi; Et je l'invoquerai toute ma vie.

Because He has inclined His ear to me, therefore will I call upon Him as long as I live.

3 L es liens de la mort m'avaient environné, Et les angoisses du sépulcre m'avaient saisi; J'étais en proie à la détresse et à la douleur.

The cords and sorrows of death were around me, and the terrors of Sheol (the place of the dead) had laid hold of me; I suffered anguish and grief (trouble and sorrow).

4 M ais j'invoquerai le nom de l'Éternel: O Éternel, sauve mon âme!

Then called I upon the name of the Lord: O Lord, I beseech You, save my life and deliver me!

5 L 'Éternel est miséricordieux et juste, Notre Dieu est plein de compassion;

Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; yes, our God is merciful.

6 L 'Éternel garde les simples; J'étais malheureux, et il m'a sauvé.

The Lord preserves the simple; I was brought low, and He helped and saved me.

7 M on âme, retourne à ton repos, Car l'Éternel t'a fait du bien.

Return to your rest, O my soul, for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.

8 O ui, tu as délivré mon âme de la mort, Mes yeux des larmes, Mes pieds de la chute.

For You have delivered my life from death, my eyes from tears, and my feet from stumbling and falling.

9 J e marcherai devant l'Éternel, Sur la terre des vivants.

I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living.

10 J 'avais confiance, lorsque je disais: Je suis bien malheureux!

I believed (trusted in, relied on, and clung to my God), and therefore have I spoken, I am greatly afflicted.

11 J e disais dans mon angoisse: Tout homme est trompeur.

I said in my haste, All men are deceitful and liars.

12 C omment rendrai-je à l'Éternel Tous ses bienfaits envers moi?

What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits toward me?

13 J 'élèverai la coupe des délivrances, Et j'invoquerai le nom de l'Éternel;

I will lift up the cup of salvation and deliverance and call on the name of the Lord.

14 J 'accomplirai mes voeux envers l'Éternel, En présence de tout son peuple.

I will pay my vows to the Lord, yes, in the presence of all His people.

15 E lle a du prix aux yeux de l'Éternel, La mort de ceux qui l'aiment.

Precious (important and no light matter) in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints (His loving ones).

16 É coute-moi, ô Éternel! car je suis ton serviteur, Ton serviteur, fils de ta servante. Tu as détaché mes liens.

O Lord, truly I am Your servant; I am Your servant, the son of Your handmaid; You have loosed my bonds.

17 J e t'offrirai un sacrifice d'actions de grâces, Et j'invoquerai le nom de l'Éternel;

I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving and will call on the name of the Lord.

18 J 'accomplirai mes voeux envers l'Éternel, En présence de tout son peuple,

I will pay my vows to the Lord, yes, in the presence of all His people,

19 D ans les parvis de la maison de l'Éternel, Au milieu de toi, Jérusalem! Louez l'Éternel!

In the courts of the Lord’s house—in the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!)
