1 H addaan ku hadlo afafka dadka iyo malaa'igaha, laakiinse aanan jacayl lahayn, waxaan noqday naxaas dhawaaqaysa ama saxan bir ah oo sanqadhaya oo kale.

I may be able to speak the languages of men and even of angels, but if I do not have love, it will sound like noisy brass.

2 O o haddaan leeyahay hadiyadda wax sii sheegidda, oo aan garanayo waxyaalaha qarsoon oo dhan iyo aqoonta oo dhan, iyo haddaan leeyahay rumaysadka oo dhan oo aan buuraha ku dhaqaajiyo, laakiinse aanan jacayl lahayn, waxba ma ihi.

If I have the gift of speaking God’s Word and if I understand all secrets, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I know all things and if I have the gift of faith so I can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

3 O o wax kastaan leeyahay haddaan bixiyo oo masaakiinta ku quudiyo, iyo haddaan jidhkayga bixiyo in la gubo, laakiinse aanan jacayl lahayn, waxba ii tari maayo.

If I give everything I have to feed poor people and if I give my body to be burned, but do not have love, it will not help me.

4 J acaylku waa samir badan yahay, waana raxiim, jacaylku ninna ma xasdo, jacaylku ma faano, mana kibro,

Love does not give up. Love is kind. Love is not jealous. Love does not put itself up as being important. Love has no pride.

5 w ax aan u ekayn ma falo, nafsaddiisana wax uma doondoono, mana xanaaqo, sharna kuma fikiro,

Love does not do the wrong thing. Love never thinks of itself. Love does not get angry. Love does not remember the suffering that comes from being hurt by someone.

6 x aqdarrada kuma farxo, laakiin wuxuu ku farxaa runta.

Love is not happy with sin. Love is happy with the truth.

7 W ax walba wuu u dulqaataa, wax walba wuu rumaystaa, wax walba wuu rajeeyaa, wax walba wuu u adkaystaa.

Love takes everything that comes without giving up. Love believes all things. Love hopes for all things. Love keeps on in all things.

8 J acaylku weligii ma idlaado. Hadday wax sii sheegiddii jirto, way baabbi'i doontaa, hadday afaf jiraan way dhammaan doonaan, hadday aqooni jirto way baabbi'i doontaa.

Love never comes to an end. The gift of speaking God’s Word will come to an end. The gift of speaking in special sounds will be stopped. The gift of understanding will come to an end.

9 W aayo, waxaynu naqaan waa qabyo, oo si qabyo ahaan ah ayaynu wax u sii sheegnaa.

For we only know a part now, and we speak only a part.

10 L aakiin markii waxa dhammi ay yimaadaan, waxa qabyada ahi way idlaan doonaan.

When everything is perfect, then we will not need these gifts that are not perfect.

11 M arkaan ilmo yar ahaan jiray, sidii ilmo oo kale ayaan u hadli jiray, sidii ilmo oo kale ayaan wax u garan jiray, sidii ilmo oo kale ayaan u fikiri jiray, laakiinse haatan waxaan noqday nin weyn, oo waxyaalihii carruurnimada waan iska fogeeyey.

When I was a child, I spoke like a child. I thought like a child. I understood like a child. Now I am a man. I do not act like a child anymore.

12 H aatan si aan caddaan ahayn ayaynu muraayad wax ugu aragnaa, laakiin markaas ka fool ka fool ayaynu wax u arki doonnaa. Hadda si qabyo ahaan ah ayaan wax u garanayaa, laakiin markaas waxaan u garan doonaa sidii la ii gartay.

Now that which we see is as if we were looking in a broken mirror. But then we will see everything. Now I know only a part. But then I will know everything in a perfect way. That is how God knows me right now.

13 H addabase waxa waaraa waa saddexdan, rumaysad iyo rajo iyo jacayl; laakiin kuwan waxaa ugu wada weyn jacayl.

And now we have these three: faith and hope and love, but the greatest of these is love.
