1 O h that my head were waters And my eyes a fountain of tears, That I might weep day and night For the slain of the daughter of my people!

О, да би била главата ми вода, очите ми - извор на сълзи, за да плача денем и нощем за убитите на дъщерята на народа ми!

2 O h that I had in the desert A wayfarers’ lodging place; That I might leave my people And go from them! For all of them are adulterers, An assembly of treacherous men.

О, да би имало за мене в пустинята убежище за пътници, за да оставя народа си и да си отида от тях! Защото те всички са прелюбодейци, сбирщина от вероломци.

3 “ They bend their tongue like their bow; Lies and not truth prevail in the land; For they proceed from evil to evil, And they do not know Me,” declares the Lord.

Запъват езика си, като че ли е лъкът им за лъжа, засилват се на земята, но не за честността; защото напредват от зло в зло, а Мене не познават, казва Господ.

4 “ Let everyone be on guard against his neighbor, And do not trust any brother; Because every brother deals craftily, And every neighbor goes about as a slanderer.

Пазете се всеки от ближния си и нямайте доверие на никой брат; защото всеки брат ще изневерява докрай и всеки ближен разпространява клевети.

5 “ Everyone deceives his neighbor And does not speak the truth, They have taught their tongue to speak lies; They weary themselves committing iniquity.

Всеки мами ближния си, никога не говорят истината, научиха езика си да говори лъжи, до уморяване вършат беззаконие.

6 “ Your dwelling is in the midst of deceit; Through deceit they refuse to know Me,” declares the Lord.

Жилището ти е сред коварство; чрез коварство те отказват да Ме познаят, казва Господ.

7 T herefore thus says the Lord of hosts, “Behold, I will refine them and assay them; For what else can I do, because of the daughter of My people?

Затова така казва Господ на Силите: Ето, ще ги претопя и ще ги опитам; защото какво друго да направя поради дъщерята на народа Ми?

8 “ Their tongue is a deadly arrow; It speaks deceit; With his mouth one speaks peace to his neighbor, But inwardly he sets an ambush for him.

Езикът им е смъртоносна стрела, говори коварно; с устата си човек говори мирно на ближния си, но в сърцето си поставя засада против него.

9 “ Shall I not punish them for these things?” declares the Lord. “On a nation such as this Shall I not avenge Myself?

Няма ли да ги накажа за това? - казва Господ; душата Ми няма ли да въздаде на такъв народ?

10 “ For the mountains I will take up a weeping and wailing, And for the pastures of the wilderness a dirge, Because they are laid waste so that no one passes through, And the lowing of the cattle is not heard; Both the birds of the sky and the beasts have fled; they are gone.

За планините ще подема плач и ридание, за пасбищата на степите - жалеене, защото така изпогоряха, че няма кой да мине през тях, нито се чува глас на стадо; от небесна птица до животно побегнаха, отидоха.

11 “ I will make Jerusalem a heap of ruins, A haunt of jackals; And I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.”

Аз ще превърна Йерусалим в грамади, в жилище на чакали, и ще превърна в пустиня Юдейските градове, останали без жители.

12 W ho is the wise man that may understand this? And who is he to whom the mouth of the Lord has spoken, that he may declare it? Why is the land ruined, laid waste like a desert, so that no one passes through?

Кой е мъдър човек, за да може да разбере това, на когото са говорили устата Господни, за да обясни защо загина страната и е изгорена като пустиня, за да няма кой да минава през нея?

13 T he Lord said, “Because they have forsaken My law which I set before them, and have not obeyed My voice nor walked according to it,

И Господ казва: Понеже изоставиха Моя закон, който поставих пред тях, и не послушаха гласа Ми, нито ходиха по него,

14 b ut have walked after the stubbornness of their heart and after the Baals, as their fathers taught them,”

а постъпваха според упоритостта на своето сърце и се кланяха на ваалимите, както ги научиха бащите им,

15 t herefore thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, “behold, I will feed them, this people, with wormwood and give them poisoned water to drink.

затова така казва Господ на Силите, Израелевият Бог: Ето, Аз ще нахраня този народ с пелин и ще ги напоя с горчива вода;

16 I will scatter them among the nations, whom neither they nor their fathers have known; and I will send the sword after them until I have annihilated them.”

също ще ги разпръсна между народи, които нито те, нито бащите им са познавали; и ще изпратя меч след тях, докато ги изтребя.

17 T hus says the Lord of hosts, “Consider and call for the mourning women, that they may come; And send for the wailing women, that they may come!

Така говори Господ на Силите: Размислете и повикайте да дойдат оплаквачките и изпратете за вещите жени, за да дойдат;

18 “ Let them make haste and take up a wailing for us, That our eyes may shed tears And our eyelids flow with water.

и нека побързат да подемат ридание за нас, за да проронят очите ни сълзи и клепачите ни да излеят вода.

19 “ For a voice of wailing is heard from Zion, ‘ How are we ruined! We are put to great shame, For we have left the land, Because they have cast down our dwellings.’”

Защото глас на ридание се чува от Сион, който казва: Как сме разорени! Много сме посрамени, защото оставихме земята, понеже събориха жилищата ни.

20 N ow hear the word of the Lord, O you women, And let your ear receive the word of His mouth; Teach your daughters wailing, And everyone her neighbor a dirge.

Обаче, слушайте, жени, словото Господне и нека ухото ви приеме словото на устата Му; научете дъщерите си на ридание и всяка - ближната си на плач.

21 F or death has come up through our windows; It has entered our palaces To cut off the children from the streets, The young men from the town squares.

Защото смъртта влезе през прозорците ни, нахлу в палатите ни, за да изтреби децата от улиците, юношите - от площадите.

22 S peak, “Thus says the Lord, ‘The corpses of men will fall like dung on the open field, And like the sheaf after the reaper, But no one will gather them.’”

Кажи: Така казва Господ: Човешки трупове ще паднат като тор по лицето на нивата и като ръкойката зад жътвар, която никой няма да събере.

23 T hus says the Lord, “ Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches;

Така казва Господ: Мъдрият да не се хвали с мъдростта си, силният да не се хвали със силата си и богатият да не се хвали с богатството си;

24 b ut let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the Lord.

а който се хвали, нека се хвали с това, че разбира и познава Мене, че съм Господ, Който извършвам милост, правосъдие и правда на земята; понеже в това благоволя, казва Господ.

25 “ Behold, the days are coming,” declares the Lord, “that I will punish all who are circumcised and yet uncircumcised—

Ето, идат дни, казва Господ, когато Аз ще накажа всички обрязани заедно с необрязаните:

26 E gypt and Judah, and Edom and the sons of Ammon, and Moab and all those inhabiting the desert who clip the hair on their temples; for all the nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised of heart.”

Египет, Юдея, Едом, амонците, Моав и всички, които си стрижат издадените части на косата, които живеят в пустинята; защото всички тези народи са необрязани, а целият Израелев дом е с необрязано сърце.
