1 N ow a man from the house of Levi went and married a daughter of Levi.

2 T he woman conceived and bore a son; and when she saw that he was beautiful, she hid him for three months.

И жената зачена и роди син; и като видя, че беше красиво дете, го скри за три месеца.

3 B ut when she could hide him no longer, she got him a wicker basket and covered it over with tar and pitch. Then she put the child into it and set it among the reeds by the bank of the Nile.

Но понеже не можеше вече да го крие, взе му тръстиково кошче и го намаза със смола и катран, сложи детето в него и го скри в тръстиката при брега на реката.

4 H is sister stood at a distance to find out what would happen to him.

А сестра му стоеше отдалеч, за да види какво ще му се случи.

5 T he daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the Nile, with her maidens walking alongside the Nile; and she saw the basket among the reeds and sent her maid, and she brought it to her.

И фараоновата дъщеря слезе да се окъпе в реката, а слугините ѝ ходеха по брега на реката; и когато съгледаха кошчето в тръстиката, тя прати слугинята си да го донесе.

6 W hen she opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the boy was crying. And she had pity on him and said, “This is one of the Hebrews’ children.”

Като го отвори, видя детето и, ето, малкото плачеше; и го съжали и каза: Това е от еврейските деца.

7 T hen his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and call a nurse for you from the Hebrew women that she may nurse the child for you?”

Тогава сестра му каза на фараоновата дъщеря: Да отида ли да ти повикам дойка от еврейките, за да ти кърми детето?

8 P haraoh’s daughter said to her, “Go ahead.” So the girl went and called the child’s mother.

А фараоновата дъщеря ѝ отговори: Иди. И така, момичето отиде и повика майката на детето.

9 T hen Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child away and nurse him for me and I will give you your wages.” So the woman took the child and nursed him.

И фараоновата дъщеря ѝ заръча: Вземи това дете и ми го кърми, а аз ще ти заплатя. И жената взе детето и го кърмеше.

10 T he child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter and he became her son. And she named him Moses, and said, “Because I drew him out of the water.”

А когато детето порасна, го доведе на фараоновата дъщеря и тя го осинови. И го наименува Моисей: Понеже, каза тя, го извадих от водата. Бягството на Моисей

11 N ow it came about in those days, when Moses had grown up, that he went out to his brethren and looked on their hard labors; and he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his brethren.

А дойде време, когато Моисей порасна, излезе при братята си и гледаше теглото им. И видя някакъв египтянин, че биеше един евреин, един от братята му;

12 S o he looked this way and that, and when he saw there was no one around, he struck down the Egyptian and hid him in the sand.

и като се огледа и видя, че няма никой, уби египтянина и го скри в пясъка.

13 H e went out the next day, and behold, two Hebrews were fighting with each other; and he said to the offender, “Why are you striking your companion?”

Излезе и на другия ден и, ето, двама евреи се спречкаха; и Моисей каза на виновника: Защо биеш другаря си?

14 B ut he said, “ Who made you a prince or a judge over us? Are you intending to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?” Then Moses was afraid and said, “Surely the matter has become known.” Moses Escapes to Midian

А той отвърна: Кой те постави началник и съдия над нас? И мене ли искаш да убиеш, както уби египтянина? Тогава Моисей се уплаши и си каза: Явно е, че това нещо стана известно.

15 W hen Pharaoh heard of this matter, he tried to kill Moses. But Moses fled from the presence of Pharaoh and settled in the land of Midian, and he sat down by a well.

А когато фараонът чу това, търсеше случай да убие Моисей; но Моисей побягна от фараона и се засели в Мадиамската земя. И седна до един кладенец.

16 N ow the priest of Midian had seven daughters; and they came to draw water and filled the troughs to water their father’s flock.

А мадиамският жрец имаше седем дъщери, които дойдоха, наляха вода и напълниха коритата, за да напоят бащините си овце.

17 T hen the shepherds came and drove them away, but Moses stood up and helped them and watered their flock.

Но овчарите дойдоха и ги изпъдиха; Моисей стана и им помогна, и напои овцете им.

18 W hen they came to Reuel their father, he said, “Why have you come back so soon today?”

И като се върнаха при баща си Рагуил, той ги запита: Как дойдохте днес толкова бързо?

19 S o they said, “An Egyptian delivered us from the hand of the shepherds, and what is more, he even drew the water for us and watered the flock.”

А те отговориха: Един египтянин ни избави от ръцете на овчарите, при това и вода ни наля, и напои овцете.

20 H e said to his daughters, “Where is he then? Why is it that you have left the man behind? Invite him to have something to eat.”

Тогава той каза на дъщерите си: А къде е той? Защо оставихте човека? Повикайте го да яде хляб с нас.

21 M oses was willing to dwell with the man, and he gave his daughter Zipporah to Moses.

И Моисей склони да живее при човека, който даде на Моисей дъщеря си Сепфора за жена.

22 T hen she gave birth to a son, and he named him Gershom, for he said, “I have been a sojourner in a foreign land.”

И тя роди син; и той го наименува Герсам, защото казваше: Пришълец станах в чужда земя.

23 N ow it came about in the course of those many days that the king of Egypt died. And the sons of Israel sighed because of the bondage, and they cried out; and their cry for help because of their bondage rose up to God.

След дълго време египетският цар умря; а израелтяните пъшкаха под робството и извикаха; и викът им от робството стигна до Бога.

24 S o God heard their groaning; and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Бог чу пъшканията им; и Бог си спомни завета Си с Авраам, с Исаак и с Яков.

25 G od saw the sons of Israel, and God took notice of them.

И Бог погледна към израелтяните и се смили над тях.
