1 D oesn’t wisdom cry out? Doesn’t understanding raise her voice?

¿No clama la sabiduría, Y levanta su voz la prudencia?

2 O n the top of high places by the way, where the paths meet, she stands.

En la cima de las alturas, junto al camino, Donde cruzan las sendas, se coloca;

3 B eside the gates, at the entry of the city, at the entry doors, she cries aloud:

Junto a las puertas, a la salida de la ciudad, En el umbral de las puertas, da voces:

4 “ To you men, I call! I send my voice to the sons of mankind.

“Oh hombres, a ustedes clamo, Para los hijos de los hombres es mi voz.

5 Y ou simple, understand prudence. You fools, be of an understanding heart.

Oh simples, aprendan prudencia; Y ustedes, necios, aprendan sabiduría.

6 H ear, for I will speak excellent things. The opening of my lips is for right things.

Escuchen, porque hablaré cosas excelentes, Y con el abrir de mis labios rectitud.

7 F or my mouth speaks truth. Wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

Porque mi boca proferirá la verdad, Abominación a mis labios es la impiedad.

8 A ll the words of my mouth are in righteousness. There is nothing crooked or perverse in them.

Conforme a la justicia son todas las palabras de mi boca, No hay en ellas nada torcido ni perverso.

9 T hey are all plain to him who understands, right to those who find knowledge.

Todas son sinceras para el que entiende, Y rectas para los que han hallado conocimiento.

10 R eceive my instruction rather than silver; knowledge rather than choice gold.

Reciban mi instrucción y no la plata, Y conocimiento antes que el oro escogido,

11 F or wisdom is better than rubies. All the things that may be desired can’t be compared to it.

Porque mejor es la sabiduría que las joyas, Y todas las cosas deseables no pueden compararse con ella. La Sabiduría se Elogia a sí Misma

12 “ I, wisdom, have made prudence my dwelling. Find out knowledge and discretion.

Yo, la sabiduría, habito con la prudencia, Y he hallado conocimiento y discreción.

13 T he fear of Yahweh is to hate evil. I hate pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth.

El temor del Señor es aborrecer el mal. El orgullo, la arrogancia, el mal camino Y la boca perversa, yo aborrezco.

14 C ounsel and sound knowledge are mine. I have understanding and power.

Mío es el consejo y la prudencia, Yo soy la inteligencia, el poder es mío.

15 B y me kings reign, and princes decree justice.

Por mí reinan los reyes, Y los gobernantes decretan justicia.

16 B y me princes rule; nobles, and all the righteous rulers of the earth.

Por mí gobiernan los príncipes y los nobles, Todos los que juzgan con justicia.

17 I love those who love me. Those who seek me diligently will find me.

Amo a los que me aman, Y los que me buscan con diligencia me hallarán.

18 W ith me are riches, honor, enduring wealth, and prosperity.

Conmigo están las riquezas y el honor, La fortuna duradera y la justicia.

19 M y fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold; my yield than choice silver.

Mi fruto es mejor que el oro, que el oro puro, Y mi ganancia es mejor que la plata escogida.

20 I walk in the way of righteousness, in the middle of the paths of justice;

Yo ando por el camino de la justicia, Por en medio de las sendas del derecho,

21 T hat I may give wealth to those who love me. I fill their treasuries.

Para otorgar heredad a los que me aman Y así llenar sus tesoros.

22 “ Yahweh possessed me in the beginning of his work, before his deeds of old.

El Señor me poseyó al principio de Su camino, Antes de Sus obras de tiempos pasados.

23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, before the earth existed.

Desde la eternidad fui establecida, Desde el principio, desde los orígenes de la tierra.

24 W hen there were no depths, I was born, when there were no springs abounding with water.

Cuando no había abismos fui engendrada, Cuando no había manantiales abundantes en aguas.

25 B efore the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was born;

Antes que los montes fueran asentados, Antes que las colinas, fui engendrada,

26 w hile as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the beginning of the dust of the world.

Cuando El no había hecho aún la tierra y los campos, Ni el polvo primero del mundo.

27 W hen he established the heavens, I was there; when he set a circle on the surface of the deep,

Cuando estableció los cielos, allí estaba yo; Cuando trazó un círculo sobre la superficie del abismo,

28 w hen he established the clouds above, when the springs of the deep became strong,

Cuando arriba afirmó los cielos, Cuando las fuentes del abismo se afianzaron,

29 w hen he gave to the sea its boundary, that the waters should not violate his commandment, when he marked out the foundations of the earth;

Cuando al mar puso sus límites Para que las aguas no transgredieran Su mandato, Cuando señaló los cimientos de la tierra,

30 t hen I was the craftsman by his side. I was a delight day by day, always rejoicing before him,

Yo estaba entonces junto a El, como arquitecto; Yo era Su delicia de día en día, Regocijándome en todo tiempo en Su presencia,

31 R ejoicing in his whole world. My delight was with the sons of men.

Regocijándome en el mundo, en Su tierra, Y teniendo mis delicias con los hijos de los hombres.

32 “ Now therefore, my sons, listen to me, for blessed are those who keep my ways.

Ahora pues, hijos, escúchenme, Porque bienaventurados son los que guardan mis caminos.

33 H ear instruction, and be wise. Don’t refuse it.

Escuchen la instrucción y sean sabios, Y no la desprecien.

34 B lessed is the man who hears me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my door posts.

Bienaventurado el hombre que me escucha, Velando a mis puertas día a día, Aguardando en los postes de mi entrada.

35 F or whoever finds me, finds life, and will obtain favor from Yahweh.

Porque el que me halla, halla la vida Y alcanza el favor del Señor.

36 B ut he who sins against me wrongs his own soul. All those who hate me love death.”

Pero el que peca contra mí, a sí mismo se daña; Todos los que me odian, aman la muerte.”
