1 N ow this is the commandment, the statutes, and the ordinances, which Yahweh your God commanded to teach you, that you might do them in the land where you go over to possess it;

“Estos, pues, son los mandamientos, los estatutos y los decretos que el Señor su Dios me ha mandado que les enseñe, para que los cumplan en la tierra que van a poseer,

2 t hat you might fear Yahweh your God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you; you, and your son, and your son’s son, all the days of your life; and that your days may be prolonged.

para que temas al Señor tu Dios, guardando todos Sus estatutos y Sus mandamientos que yo te ordeno, tú y tus hijos y tus nietos, todos los días de tu vida, para que tus días sean prolongados.

3 H ear therefore, Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with you, and that you may increase mightily, as Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has promised to you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.

Escucha, pues, oh Israel, y cuida de hacer lo, para que te vaya bien y te multipliques en gran manera, en una tierra que mana leche y miel, tal como el Señor, el Dios de tus padres, te ha prometido.

4 H ear, Israel: Yahweh is our God. Yahweh is one.

“Escucha, oh Israel, el Señor es nuestro Dios, el Señor uno es.

5 Y ou shall love Yahweh your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might.

Amarás al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma y con toda tu fuerza.

6 T hese words, which I command you today, shall be on your heart;

Estas palabras que yo te mando hoy, estarán sobre tu corazón.

7 a nd you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.

Las enseñarás diligentemente a tus hijos, y hablarás de ellas cuando te sientes en tu casa y cuando andes por el camino, cuando te acuestes y cuando te levantes.

8 Y ou shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes.

Las atarás como una señal a tu mano, y serán por insignias entre tus ojos.

9 Y ou shall write them on the door posts of your house, and on your gates.

Las escribirás en los postes de tu casa y en tus puertas.

10 I t shall be, when Yahweh your God brings you into the land which he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you, great and goodly cities, which you didn’t build,

“Y sucederá que cuando el Señor tu Dios te traiga a la tierra que juró a tus padres Abraham, Isaac y Jacob, que te daría, una tierra con grandes y espléndidas ciudades que tú no edificaste,

11 a nd houses full of all good things, which you didn’t fill, and cisterns dug out, which you didn’t dig, vineyards and olive trees, which you didn’t plant, and you shall eat and be full;

y casas llenas de toda buena cosa que tú no llenaste, y cisternas cavadas que tú no cavaste, viñas y olivos que tú no plantaste, y comas y te sacies;

12 t hen beware lest you forget Yahweh, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

entonces ten cuidado, no sea que te olvides del Señor que te sacó de la tierra de Egipto, de la casa de servidumbre (de esclavos).

13 Y ou shall fear Yahweh your God; and you shall serve him, and shall swear by his name.

Temerás (Reverenciarás) sólo al Señor tu Dios; y a El adorarás (servirás) y jurarás por Su nombre.

14 Y ou shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the peoples who are around you;

No seguirán a otros dioses, a ninguno de los dioses de los pueblos que los rodean,

15 f or Yahweh your God among you is a jealous God; lest the anger of Yahweh your God be kindled against you, and he destroy you from off the face of the earth.

porque el Señor tu Dios, que está en medio de ti, es Dios celoso, no sea que se encienda la ira del Señor tu Dios contra ti, y El te borre de la superficie de la tierra.

16 Y ou shall not tempt Yahweh your God, as you tempted him in Massah.

“No pondrán a prueba al Señor su Dios, como Lo hicieron en Masah.

17 Y ou shall diligently keep the commandments of Yahweh your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he has commanded you.

Ustedes deben guardar diligentemente los mandamientos del Señor su Dios, y Sus testimonios y Sus estatutos que te ha mandado.

18 Y ou shall do that which is right and good in Yahweh’s sight; that it may be well with you, and that you may go in and possess the good land which Yahweh swore to your fathers,

Harás lo que es justo y bueno a los ojos del Señor, para que te vaya bien, y para que entres y tomes posesión de la buena tierra que el Señor juró que daría a tus padres,

19 t o thrust out all your enemies from before you, as Yahweh has spoken.

echando fuera a todos tus enemigos de delante de ti, como el Señor ha dicho.

20 W hen your son asks you in time to come, saying, “What do the testimonies, the statutes, and the ordinances, which Yahweh our God has commanded you mean?”

“Cuando en el futuro tu hijo te pregunte: ‘¿Qué significan los testimonios y los estatutos y los decretos que el Señor nuestro Dios les ha mandado?’

21 t hen you shall tell your son, “We were Pharaoh’s slaves in Egypt. Yahweh brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand;

entonces dirás a tu hijo: ‘Nosotros éramos esclavos de Faraón en Egipto, y el Señor nos sacó de Egipto con mano fuerte.

22 a nd Yahweh showed great and awesome signs and wonders on Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his house, before our eyes;

Además, el Señor hizo grandes y temibles señales y maravillas delante de nuestros ojos contra Egipto, contra Faraón y contra toda su casa;

23 a nd he brought us out from there, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he swore to our fathers.

y nos sacó de allí para traernos y darnos la tierra que El había jurado dar a nuestros padres (antepasados).’

24 Y ahweh commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear Yahweh our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as we are today.

Así que el Señor nos mandó que observáramos todos estos estatutos, y que temiéramos siempre al Señor nuestro Dios para nuestro bien y para preservarnos la vida, como hasta hoy.

25 I t shall be righteousness to us, if we observe to do all this commandment before Yahweh our God, as he has commanded us.”

Y habrá justicia para nosotros si cuidamos de observar todos estos mandamientos delante del Señor nuestro Dios, tal como El nos ha mandado.
