1 A ll the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the place of his father Amaziah.

Y todo el pueblo de Judá tomó a Uzías (Azarías), que tenía dieciséis años, y lo hicieron rey en lugar de su padre Amasías.

2 H e built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.

El edificó a Elot y la restituyó a Judá después que el rey Amasías durmió con sus padres.

3 S ixteen years old was Uzziah when he began to reign; and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Jechiliah, of Jerusalem.

Uzías tenía dieciséis años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó cincuenta y dos años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre era Jecolías, de Jerusalén.

4 H e did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes, according to all that his father Amaziah had done.

Uzías hizo lo recto ante los ojos del Señor, conforme a todo lo que su padre Amasías había hecho.

5 H e set himself to seek God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the vision of God: and as long as he sought Yahweh, God made him to prosper.

Y persistió en buscar a Dios durante los días de Zacarías, quien tenía entendimiento por medio de la visión de Dios; y mientras buscó al Señor, Dios le prosperó.

6 H e went out and fought against the Philistines, and broke down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod; and he built cities in the country of Ashdod, and among the Philistines.

Salió y peleó contra los Filisteos, y derribó la muralla de Gat, la muralla de Jabnia y la muralla de Asdod. Además edificó ciudades en la región de Asdod y entre los Filisteos.

7 G od helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians who lived in Gur Baal, and the Meunim.

Dios lo ayudó contra los Filisteos, contra los Arabes que habitaban en Gurbaal y contra los Meunitas.

8 T he Ammonites gave tribute to Uzziah: and his name spread abroad even to the entrance of Egypt; for he grew exceeding strong.

Los Amonitas pagaron tributo a Uzías, y su fama se divulgó hasta la frontera de Egipto, pues llegó a ser muy poderoso.

9 M oreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning of the wall, and fortified them.

Uzías edificó torres en Jerusalén en la Puerta del Angulo, en la Puerta del Valle y en la esquina de la muralla, y las fortificó.

10 H e built towers in the wilderness, and dug out many cisterns, for he had much livestock; in the lowland also, and in the plain: and he had farmers and vineyard keepers in the mountains and in the fruitful fields; for he loved farming.

Edificó también torres en el desierto y excavó muchas cisternas, porque tenía mucho ganado, tanto en las tierras bajas como en la llanura. También tenía labradores y viñadores en la región montañosa y en los campos fértiles porque amaba la tierra.

11 M oreover Uzziah had an army of fighting men, who went out to war by bands, according to the number of their reckoning made by Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the officer, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king’s captains.

Uzías tenía un ejército listo para la batalla, que salía al combate por divisiones conforme al número de su alistamiento, preparado por el escriba Jeiel y el oficial Maasías, bajo la dirección de Hananías, uno de los oficiales del rey.

12 T he whole number of the heads of fathers’ households, even the mighty men of valor, was two thousand and six hundred.

El número total de los jefes de familia, guerreros valientes, era de 2, 600.

13 U nder their hand was an army, three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, who made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.

Y bajo su mando estaba un ejército poderoso de 307, 500 que hacían la guerra con gran poder para ayudar al rey contra el enemigo.

14 U zziah prepared for them, even for all the army, shields, and spears, and helmets, and coats of mail, and bows, and stones for slinging.

Uzías proveyó además a todo el ejército de escudos, lanzas, cascos, corazas, arcos y hondas para tirar piedras.

15 H e made in Jerusalem engines, invented by skillful men, to be on the towers and on the battlements, with which to shoot arrows and great stones. His name spread far abroad; for he was marvelously helped, until he was strong.

Y en Jerusalén hizo máquinas de guerra inventadas por hombres hábiles para poner las en las torres y en las esquinas, para arrojar flechas y grandes piedras. Por eso su fama se extendió hasta muy lejos, porque fue ayudado en forma prodigiosa hasta que se hizo muy fuerte.

16 B ut when he was strong, his heart was lifted up, so that he did corruptly, and he trespassed against Yahweh his God; for he went into Yahweh’s temple to burn incense on the altar of incense.

Pero cuando llegó a ser fuerte, su corazón se hizo tan orgulloso que obró corruptamente, y fue infiel al Señor su Dios, pues entró al templo del Señor para quemar incienso sobre el altar del incienso.

17 A zariah the priest went in after him, and with him eighty priests of Yahweh, who were valiant men:

Entonces el sacerdote Azarías entró tras él, y con él ochenta sacerdotes del Señor, hombres valientes,

18 a nd they resisted Uzziah the king, and said to him, “It isn’t for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to Yahweh, but for the priests the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary; for you have trespassed; neither shall it be for your honor from Yahweh God.”

y se opusieron al rey Uzías, y le dijeron: “No le corresponde a usted, Uzías, quemar incienso al Señor, sino a los sacerdotes, hijos de Aarón, que son consagrados para quemar incienso. Salga del santuario, porque usted ha sido infiel y no recibirá honra del Señor Dios.”

19 T hen Uzziah was angry; and he had a censer in his hand to burn incense; and while he was angry with the priests, the leprosy broke out on his forehead before the priests in Yahweh’s house, beside the altar of incense.

Pero Uzías, con un incensario en su mano para quemar incienso, se llenó de ira; y mientras estaba enojado contra los sacerdotes, la lepra le brotó en la frente, delante de los sacerdotes en la casa del Señor, junto al altar del incienso.

20 A zariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked on him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out quickly from there; yes, himself hurried also to go out, because Yahweh had struck him.

Y el sumo sacerdote Azarías y todos los sacerdotes lo miraron, y él tenía lepra en la frente; y lo hicieron salir de allí a toda prisa, y también él mismo se apresuró a salir, porque el Señor lo había herido.

21 U zziah the king was a leper to the day of his death, and lived in a separate house, being a leper; for he was cut off from Yahweh’s house: and Jotham his son was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.

El rey Uzías quedó leproso hasta el día de su muerte, y habitó en una casa separada, ya que era leproso, porque fue excluido de la casa del Señor. Y su hijo Jotam estaba al frente de la casa del rey gobernando al pueblo de la tierra.

22 N ow the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, wrote.

Los demás hechos de Uzías, los primeros y los postreros, fueron escritos por el profeta Isaías, hijo de Amoz.

23 S o Uzziah slept with his fathers; and they buried him with his fathers in the field of burial which belonged to the kings; for they said, “He is a leper.” Jotham his son reigned in his place.

Uzías durmió con sus padres, y lo sepultaron con sus padres en el campo del cementerio que pertenecía a los reyes, porque dijeron: “Es leproso.” Y su hijo Jotam reinó en su lugar.
