1 B ut the Spirit says expressly that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons,

El Espíritu dice claramente que en los últimos tiempos algunos se apartarán de la fe, prestando atención a espíritus engañadores y a doctrinas de demonios,

2 t hrough the hypocrisy of men who speak lies, branded in their own conscience as with a hot iron;

mediante la hipocresía de mentirosos que tienen cauterizada la conciencia.

3 f orbidding marriage and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

Esos prohibirán casarse y mandarán abstenerse de algunos alimentos, que Dios los ha creado para que con acción de gracias participen de ellos los que creen y que han conocido la verdad.

4 F or every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it is received with thanksgiving.

Porque todo lo creado por Dios es bueno y nada se debe rechazar si se recibe con acción de gracias;

5 F or it is sanctified through the word of God and prayer.

porque es santificado mediante la palabra de Dios y la oración. El Buen Ministro de Cristo

6 I f you instruct the brothers of these things, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, nourished in the words of the faith, and of the good doctrine which you have followed.

Al señalar estas cosas a los hermanos serás un buen ministro de Cristo Jesús, nutrido con las palabras de la fe y de la buena doctrina que has seguido.

7 B ut refuse profane and old wives’ fables. Exercise yourself toward godliness.

Pero nada tengas que ver con las fábulas profanas propias de viejas. Más bien disciplínate a ti mismo para la piedad.

8 F or bodily exercise has some value, but godliness has value in all things, having the promise of the life which is now, and of that which is to come.

Porque el ejercicio físico aprovecha poco, pero la piedad es provechosa para todo, pues tiene promesa para la vida presente y también para la futura.

9 T his saying is faithful and worthy of all acceptance.

Palabra fiel es ésta, y digna de ser aceptada por todos.

10 F or to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we have set our trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.

Porque por esto trabajamos y nos esforzamos, porque hemos puesto nuestra esperanza en el Dios vivo, que es el Salvador de todos los hombres, especialmente de los creyentes.

11 C ommand and teach these things.

Esto manda y enseña.

12 L et no man despise your youth; but be an example to those who believe, in word, in your way of life, in love, in spirit, in faith, and in purity.

No permitas que nadie menosprecie tu juventud, sino sé ejemplo de los creyentes en palabra, conducta, amor, fe y pureza.

13 U ntil I come, pay attention to reading, to exhortation, and to teaching.

Entretanto que llego, ocúpate en la lectura de las Escrituras, la exhortación y la enseñanza.

14 D on’t neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the elders.

No descuides el don espiritual que está en ti, que te fue conferido por medio de la profecía con la imposición de manos del presbiterio.

15 B e diligent in these things. Give yourself wholly to them, that your progress may be revealed to all.

Reflexiona sobre estas cosas; dedícate a ellas, para que tu aprovechamiento sea evidente a todos.

16 P ay attention to yourself, and to your teaching. Continue in these things, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

Ten cuidado de ti mismo y de la enseñanza. Persevera en estas cosas, porque haciéndolo asegurarás la salvación tanto para ti mismo como para los que te escuchan.
