1 M oreover Elihu answered,

Entonces prosiguió Eliú, y dijo:

2 “ Hear my words, you wise men. Give ear to me, you who have knowledge.

“Oigan, sabios, mis palabras, Y ustedes los que saben, préstenme atención.

3 F or the ear tries words, as the palate tastes food.

Porque el oído distingue las palabras, Como el paladar prueba la comida.

4 L et us choose for us that which is right. Let us know among ourselves what is good.

Escojamos para nosotros lo que es justo; Conozcamos entre nosotros lo que es bueno.

5 F or Job has said, ‘I am righteous, God has taken away my right:

Porque Job ha dicho: ‘Yo soy justo, Pero Dios me ha quitado mi derecho.

6 N otwithstanding my right I am considered a liar. My wound is incurable, though I am without disobedience.’

‘¿He de mentir respecto a mi derecho ? Mi herida es incurable, sin haber yo cometido transgresión.’

7 W hat man is like Job, who drinks scorn like water,

¿Qué hombre es como Job, Que bebe el escarnio como agua,

8 W ho goes in company with the workers of iniquity, and walks with wicked men?

Que va en compañía de los que hacen iniquidad, Y anda con hombres perversos ?

9 F or he has said, ‘It profits a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.’

Porque ha dicho: ‘Nada gana el hombre Cuando se complace en Dios.’

10 “ Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness, from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.

Por tanto, escúchenme, hombres de entendimiento. Lejos esté de Dios la iniquidad, Y del Todopoderoso (Shaddai) la maldad.

11 F or the work of a man he will render to him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.

Porque El paga al hombre conforme a su trabajo, Y retribuye a cada uno conforme a su conducta.

12 Y es surely, God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert justice.

Ciertamente, Dios no obrará perversamente, Y el Todopoderoso no pervertirá el juicio.

13 W ho put him in charge of the earth? or who has appointed him over the whole world?

¿Quién Le dio autoridad sobre la tierra ? ¿Y quién ha puesto a Su cargo el mundo entero ?

14 I f he set his heart on himself, If he gathered to himself his spirit and his breath,

Si El determinara hacerlo así, Si hiciera volver a sí mismo Su espíritu y Su aliento,

15 a ll flesh would perish together, and man would turn again to dust.

Toda carne (toda la humanidad) a una perecería, Y el hombre volvería al polvo.

16 “ If now you have understanding, hear this. Listen to the voice of my words.

Pero si tienes inteligencia, oye esto, Escucha la voz de mis palabras.

17 S hall even one who hates justice govern? Will you condemn him who is righteous and mighty?—

¿Gobernará el que aborrece la justicia ? ¿Y condenarás al Justo poderoso,

18 W ho says to a king, ‘Vile!’ or to nobles, ‘Wicked!’?

Que dice a un rey: ‘Indigno,’ A los nobles: ‘Perversos’;

19 W ho doesn’t respect the persons of princes, nor respects the rich more than the poor; for they all are the work of his hands.

Que no hace acepción de príncipes, Ni considera al rico sobre el pobre, Ya que todos son obra de Sus manos ?

20 I n a moment they die, even at midnight. The people are shaken and pass away. The mighty are taken away without a hand.

En un momento mueren, y a medianoche Se estremecen los pueblos y pasan, Y los poderosos son quitados sin esfuerzo.

21 “ For his eyes are on the ways of a man. He sees all his goings.

Porque Sus ojos observan los caminos del hombre, Y El ve todos sus pasos.

22 T here is no darkness, nor thick gloom, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.

No hay tinieblas ni densa oscuridad Donde puedan esconderse los que hacen iniquidad.

23 F or he doesn’t need to consider a man further, that he should go before God in judgment.

Porque El no necesita considerar más al hombre, Para que vaya ante Dios en juicio.

24 H e breaks in pieces mighty men in ways past finding out, and sets others in their place.

El quebranta a los poderosos sin indagar, Y pone a otros en su lugar.

25 T herefore he takes knowledge of their works. He overturns them in the night, so that they are destroyed.

Pues El conoce sus obras, De noche los derriba Y son aplastados.

26 H e strikes them as wicked men in the open sight of others;

Como a malvados los azota En un lugar público,

27 b ecause they turned aside from following him, and wouldn’t pay attention to any of his ways,

Porque se apartaron de seguirle, Y no consideraron ninguno de Sus caminos,

28 s o that they caused the cry of the poor to come to him. He heard the cry of the afflicted.

Haciendo que el clamor del pobre llegara a El, Y que oyera el clamor de los afligidos.

29 W hen he gives quietness, who then can condemn? When he hides his face, who then can see him? Alike whether to a nation, or to a man,

Cuando está quieto, ¿quién puede condenar lo ?; Y cuando esconde Su rostro, ¿quién puede contemplarlo?; Esto es, tanto nación como hombre,

30 t hat the godless man may not reign, that there be no one to ensnare the people.

Para que no gobiernen hombres impíos, Ni sean trampas para el pueblo.

31 “ For has any said to God, ‘I am guilty, but I will not offend any more.

Porque ¿ha dicho alguien a Dios: ‘He sufrido castigo, Ya no ofenderé más;

32 T each me that which I don’t see. If I have done iniquity, I will do it no more’?

Enséñame lo que no veo; Si he obrado mal, No lo volveré a hacer ?’

33 S hall his recompense be as you desire, that you refuse it? For you must choose, and not I. Therefore speak what you know.

¿Ha de retribuir El según tus condiciones, porque tú has rehusado? Porque tú tienes que escoger y no yo, Por tanto, declara lo que sabes.

34 M en of understanding will tell me, yes, every wise man who hears me:

Los hombres entendidos me dirán, Y también el sabio que me oiga:

35 ‘ Job speaks without knowledge. His words are without wisdom.’

‘Job habla sin conocimiento, Y sus palabras no tienen sabiduría.

36 I wish that Job were tried to the end, because of his answering like wicked men.

Job debe ser juzgado hasta el límite, Porque responde como los hombres perversos.

37 F or he adds rebellion to his sin. He claps his hands among us, and multiplies his words against God.”

Porque a su pecado añade rebelión; Bate palmas entre nosotros, Y multiplica sus palabras contra Dios.’”
