1 A l tercer día hubo unas bodas en Caná de Galilea; y estaba allí la madre de Jesús.

The third day, there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there.

2 Y fue también invitado a las bodas Jesús con sus discípulos.

Jesus also was invited, with his disciples, to the marriage.

3 Y habiendo comenzado a faltar el vino, la madre de Jesús le dijo: No tienen vino.

When the wine ran out, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no wine.”

4 J esús le dijo: ¿Qué tengo que ver contigo, mujer? Aún no ha llegado mi hora.

Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does that have to do with you and me? My hour has not yet come.”

5 S u madre dijo a los sirvientes: Haced lo que él os diga.

His mother said to the servants, “Whatever he says to you, do it.”

6 Y había allí seis tinajas de piedra para agua, conforme al rito de la purificación de los judíos, en cada una de las cuales cabían dos o tres cántaros.

Now there were six water pots of stone set there after the Jews’ way of purifying, containing two or three metretes apiece.

7 J esús les dijo: Llenad estas tinajas de agua. Y las llenaron hasta arriba.

Jesus said to them, “Fill the water pots with water.” They filled them up to the brim.

8 E ntonces les dijo: Sacad ahora, y llevadlo al maestresala. Y se lo llevaron.

He said to them, “Now draw some out, and take it to the ruler of the feast.” So they took it.

9 C uando el maestresala probó el agua hecha vino (sin saber él de dónde era, aunque lo sabían los sirvientes que habían sacado el agua), llamó al novio,

When the ruler of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and didn’t know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the ruler of the feast called the bridegroom,

10 y le dijo: Todo hombre sirve primero el buen vino, y cuando ya han bebido mucho, entonces el inferior; pero tú has reservado el buen vino hasta ahora.

and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when the guests have drunk freely, then that which is worse. You have kept the good wine until now!”

11 E ste principio de sus señales hizo Jesús en Caná de Galilea, y manifestó su gloria; y sus discípulos creyeron en él.

This beginning of his signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.

12 D espués de esto descendieron a Capernaúm, él, su madre, sus hermanos y sus discípulos; y estuvieron allí no muchos días. Purificación del templo

After this, he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, his brothers, and his disciples; and they stayed there a few days.

13 E staba cerca la pascua de los judíos; y subió Jesús a Jerusalén,

The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

14 y halló en el templo a los que vendían bueyes, ovejas y palomas, y a los cambistas allí sentados.

He found in the temple those who sold oxen, sheep, and doves, and the changers of money sitting.

15 Y haciendo un azote de cuerdas, echó fuera del templo a todos, y las ovejas y los bueyes; y esparció las monedas de los cambistas, y volcó las mesas;

He made a whip of cords, and threw all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and he poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew their tables.

16 y dijo a los que vendían palomas: Quitad de aquí esto; no hagáis de la casa de mi Padre casa de mercado.

To those who sold the doves, he said, “Take these things out of here! Don’t make my Father’s house a marketplace!”

17 E ntonces se acordaron sus discípulos de que está escrito: El celo de tu casa me devora.

His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will eat me up.”

18 Y los judíos respondieron y le dijeron: ¿Qué señal nos muestras, ya que haces esto?

The Jews therefore answered him, “What sign do you show us, seeing that you do these things?”

19 R espondió Jesús y les dijo: Destruid este templo, y en tres días lo levantaré.

Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”

20 D ijeron entonces los judíos: En cuarenta y seis años fue edificado este templo, ¿y tú lo levantarás en tres días?

The Jews therefore said, “It took forty-six years to build this temple! Will you raise it up in three days?”

21 P ero él se refería al templo de su cuerpo.

But he spoke of the temple of his body.

22 P or eso, cuando resucitó de entre los muertos, sus discípulos se acordaron de que había dicho esto; y creyeron a la Escritura y a la palabra que Jesús había dicho. Jesús conoce a todos los hombres

When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he said this, and they believed the Scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.

23 M ientras estaba en Jerusalén en la fiesta de la pascua, muchos creyeron en su nombre, al ver las señales que hacía.

Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in his name, observing his signs which he did.

24 P ero Jesús mismo no se confiaba a ellos, porque conocía a todos,

But Jesus didn’t trust himself to them, because he knew everyone,

25 y no tenía necesidad de que nadie le diese testimonio acerca del hombre, pues él sabía lo que había en el hombre.

and because he didn’t need for anyone to testify concerning man; for he himself knew what was in man.
