1 E ntró Jesús otra vez en Capernaúm después de algunos días; y corrió la voz de que estaba en casa.

When he entered again into Capernaum after some days, it was heard that he was in the house.

2 Y se reunieron muchos, tanto que ya no quedaba sitio ni aun delante de la puerta; y les hablaba la palabra.

Immediately many were gathered together, so that there was no more room, not even around the door; and he spoke the word to them.

3 E n esto, llegan unos hombres trayéndole un paralítico, llevado por cuatro de ellos.

Four people came, carrying a paralytic to him.

4 Y como no podían acercarse a él a causa de la multitud, abrieron un boquete en el techo encima de donde él estaba, y por la abertura hecha, bajaron la camilla en que yacía el paralítico.

When they could not come near to him for the crowd, they removed the roof where he was. When they had broken it up, they let down the mat that the paralytic was lying on.

5 A l ver Jesús la fe de ellos, dijo al paralítico: Hijo, tus pecados te son perdonados.

Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.”

6 E staban allí sentados algunos de los escribas, los cuales razonaban en sus corazones:

But there were some of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,

7 ¿ Por qué habla éste así? Está blasfemando. ¿Quién puede perdonar pecados, sino sólo Dios?

“Why does this man speak blasphemies like that? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

8 Y al instante Jesús, conociendo en su espíritu que razonaban de esta manera dentro de sí mismos, les dijo: ¿Por qué pensáis esas cosas en vuestros corazones?

Immediately Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, said to them, “Why do you reason these things in your hearts?

9 ¿ Qué es más fácil, decirle al paralítico: Tus pecados te son perdonados, o decirle: Levántate, toma tu camilla y anda?

Which is easier, to tell the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven;’ or to say, ‘Arise, and take up your bed, and walk?’

10 P ues para que sepáis que el Hijo del Hombre tiene autoridad en la tierra para perdonar pecados (dijo al paralítico):

But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins” —he said to the paralytic—

11 A ti te digo: Levántate, toma tu camilla, y vete a tu casa.

“I tell you, arise, take up your mat, and go to your house.”

12 E ntonces él se levantó, y tomando en seguida su camilla, salió a la vista de todos, de manera que todos se asombraron, y glorificaban a Dios, diciendo: Nunca hemos visto nada como esto. Llamamiento de Leví

He arose, and immediately took up the mat, and went out in front of them all; so that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, “We never saw anything like this!”

13 É l salió de nuevo a la orilla del mar; y toda la multitud venía a él, y él comenzó a enseñarles.

He went out again by the seaside. All the multitude came to him, and he taught them.

14 Y al pasar, vio a Leví, el hijo de Alfeo, sentado a la mesa de impuestos, y le dijo: Sígueme. Y él se levantó y le siguió.

As he passed by, he saw Levi, the son of Alphaeus, sitting at the tax office, and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he arose and followed him.

15 Y sucedió que estando sentado a la mesa en casa de él, muchos cobradores de impuestos y pecadores notorios estaban también sentados a la mesa juntamente con Jesús y sus discípulos; porque había muchos, y le seguían.

He was reclining at the table in his house, and many tax collectors and sinners sat down with Jesus and his disciples, for there were many, and they followed him.

16 C uando los escribas del partido de los fariseos vieron que comía con los pecadores y cobradores de impuestos, comenzaron a decir a sus discípulos: ¿Qué es esto, que él come y bebe con los cobradores de impuestos y pecadores?

The scribes and the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with the sinners and tax collectors, said to his disciples, “Why is it that he eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?”

17 A l oír esto Jesús, les dijo: Los sanos no tienen necesidad de médico, sino los enfermos. No he venido a llamar a justos, sino a pecadores. La pregunta sobre el ayuno

When Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

18 Y los discípulos de Juan y los de los fariseos estaban ayunando; y vinieron y le dijeron: ¿Por qué ayunan los discípulos de Juan y los de los fariseos, pero tus discípulos no ayunan?

John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting, and they came and asked him, “Why do John’s disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples don’t fast?”

19 J esús les dijo: ¿Acaso pueden ayunar los invitados a la boda mientras está con ellos el novio? Durante todo el tiempo que tienen con ellos al novio, no pueden ayunar.

Jesus said to them, “Can the groomsmen fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they can’t fast.

20 P ero vendrán días cuando el novio les será quitado, y entonces ayunarán en aquel día.

But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then will they fast in that day.

21 N adie pone un remiendo de paño sin estrenar en un vestido viejo; de otra manera, el remiendo tira del vestido, lo nuevo de lo viejo, y se produce un desgarrón peor.

No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, or else the patch shrinks and the new tears away from the old, and a worse hole is made.

22 Y nadie echa vino nuevo en odres viejos; de otra manera, el vino nuevo revienta los odres, y tanto el vino como los odres se echan a perder; sino que el vino nuevo se ha de echar en odres nuevos. Los discípulos recogen espigas en día de sábado

No one puts new wine into old wineskins, or else the new wine will burst the skins, and the wine pours out, and the skins will be destroyed; but they put new wine into fresh wineskins.”

23 S ucedió también que él pasaba por los sembrados en sábado, y sus discípulos comenzaron a abrirse camino arrancando las espigas.

He was going on the Sabbath day through the grain fields, and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of grain.

24 E ntonces los fariseos le decían: Mira, ¿por qué hacen en sábado lo que no es lícito?

The Pharisees said to him, “Behold, why do they do that which is not lawful on the Sabbath day?”

25 Y él les dijo: ¿Nunca habéis leído lo que hizo David cuando tuvo necesidad, y sintió hambre, él y los que con él estaban;

He said to them, “Did you never read what David did, when he had need, and was hungry—he, and those who were with him?

26 c ómo entró en la casa de Dios, en tiempos de Abiatar, sumo sacerdote, y se comió los panes de la proposición, que sólo a los sacerdotes les es lícito comer, y dio también a los que estaban con él?

How he entered into God’s house when Abiathar was high priest, and ate the show bread, which is not lawful to eat except for the priests, and gave also to those who were with him?”

27 Y les decía: El sábado fue instituido para el hombre, y no el hombre para el sábado.

He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.

28 P or tanto, el Hijo del Hombre es también señor del sábado.

Therefore the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.”
