1 E l primer día de la semana, María Magdalena fue de madrugada, siendo aún oscuro, al sepulcro; y vio quitada la piedra del sepulcro.

Now on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene went early, while it was still dark, to the tomb, and saw the stone taken away from the tomb.

2 E ntonces corrió, y fue a Simón Pedro y al otro discípulo, aquel al que amaba Jesús, y les dijo: Se han llevado del sepulcro al Señor, y no sabemos dónde le han puesto.

Therefore she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have laid him!”

3 S alieron, pues, Pedro y el otro discípulo, y fueron al sepulcro.

Therefore Peter and the other disciple went out, and they went toward the tomb.

4 C orrían los dos juntos; pero el otro discípulo corrió más aprisa que Pedro, y llegó primero al sepulcro.

They both ran together. The other disciple outran Peter, and came to the tomb first.

5 Y bajándose a mirar, vio los lienzos colocados en el suelo, pero no entró.

Stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths lying, yet he didn’t enter in.

6 L uego llegó Simón Pedro tras él, y entró en el sepulcro, y vio los lienzos colocados en el suelo,

Then Simon Peter came, following him, and entered into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying,

7 y el sudario, que había estado sobre la cabeza de Jesús, no puesto con los lienzos, sino enrollado en un lugar aparte.

and the cloth that had been on his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but rolled up in a place by itself.

8 E ntonces entró también el otro discípulo, que había venido primero al sepulcro; y vio, y creyó.

So then the other disciple who came first to the tomb also entered in, and he saw and believed.

9 P orque aún no habían entendido la Escritura, que era menester que él resucitase de los muertos.

For as yet they didn’t know the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead.

10 Y volvieron los discípulos a los suyos. Jesús se aparece a María Magdalena

So the disciples went away again to their own homes.

11 P ero María estaba fuera llorando junto al sepulcro; y mientras lloraba, se inclinó para mirar dentro del sepulcro;

But Mary was standing outside at the tomb weeping. So, as she wept, she stooped and looked into the tomb,

12 y vio a dos ángeles con vestiduras blancas, que estaban sentados el uno a la cabecera, y el otro a los pies, donde el cuerpo de Jesús había sido colocado.

and she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head, and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.

13 Y le dijeron: Mujer, ¿por qué lloras? Les dijo: Porque se han llevado a mi Señor, y no sé dónde le han puesto.

They told her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I don’t know where they have laid him.”

14 D icho esto, se volvió, y vio a Jesús que estaba allí; mas no sabía que era Jesús.

When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing, and didn’t know that it was Jesus.

15 J esús le dijo: Mujer, ¿por qué lloras? ¿A quién buscas? Ella, pensando que era el hortelano, le dijo: Señor, si tú lo has llevado, dime dónde lo has puesto, y yo lo llevaré.

Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Who are you looking for?” She, supposing him to be the gardener, said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.”

16 J esús le dijo: ¡María! Volviéndose ella, le dijo: ¡Rabuní! (que quiere decir, Maestro).

Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to him, “Rabboni!” which is to say, “Teacher!”

17 J esús le dijo: Suéltame, porque aún no he subido a mi Padre; mas ve a mis hermanos, y diles: Subo a mi Padre y a vuestro Padre, a mi Dios y a vuestro Dios.

Jesus said to her, “Don’t hold me, for I haven’t yet ascended to my Father; but go to my brothers, and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

18 F ue entonces María Magdalena para dar a los discípulos las nuevas de que había visto al Señor, y que él le había dicho estas cosas. Jesús se aparece a los discípulos

Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had said these things to her.

19 A l atardecer de aquel mismo día, el primero de la semana, estando las puertas cerradas en el lugar donde los discípulos estaban reunidos por miedo a los judíos, vino Jesús, se puso en medio y les dijo: Paz a vosotros.

When therefore it was evening, on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were locked where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the middle, and said to them, “Peace be to you.”

20 Y , dicho esto, les mostró las manos y el costado. Y los discípulos se regocijaron viendo al Señor.

When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples therefore were glad when they saw the Lord.

21 E ntonces Jesús les dijo otra vez: Paz a vosotros. Como me envió el Padre, así también yo os envío.

Jesus therefore said to them again, “Peace be to you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.”

22 Y habiendo dicho esto, sopló, y les dijo: Recibid el Espíritu Santo.

When he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit!

23 A quienes remitiereis los pecados, les son remitidos; y a quienes se los retuviereis, les quedan retenidos. Incredulidad de Tomás

If you forgive anyone’s sins, they have been forgiven them. If you retain anyone’s sins, they have been retained.”

24 P ero Tomás, uno de los doce, llamado el Mellizo, no estaba con ellos cuando vino Jesús.

But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, wasn’t with them when Jesus came.

25 L e dijeron, pues, los otros discípulos: Hemos visto al Señor. Él les dijo: Si no veo en sus manos la señal de los clavos, y meto mi dedo en el lugar de los clavos, y meto mi mano en su costado, no creeré de ningún modo.

The other disciples therefore said to him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

26 O cho días después, estaban otra vez sus discípulos dentro, y con ellos Tomás. Llegó Jesús, estando las puertas cerradas, y se puso en medio y les dijo: Paz a vosotros.

After eight days again his disciples were inside, and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, the doors being locked, and stood in the middle, and said, “Peace be to you.”

27 L uego dijo a Tomás: Pon aquí tu dedo, y mira mis manos; y acerca tu mano, y métela en mi costado; y no seas incrédulo, sino creyente.

Then he said to Thomas, “Reach here your finger, and see my hands. Reach here your hand, and put it into my side. Don’t be unbelieving, but believing.”

28 E ntonces Tomás respondió y le dijo: ¡Señor mío, y Dios mío!

Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!”

29 J esús le dijo: Porque me has visto, Tomás, has creído; bienaventurados los que no vieron, y creyeron. El propósito del libro

Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen, and have believed.”

30 H izo además Jesús muchas otras señales en presencia de sus discípulos, las cuales no están escritas en este libro.

Therefore Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book;

31 P ero éstas se han escrito para que creáis que Jesús es el Cristo, el Hijo de Dios, y para que creyendo, tengáis vida en su nombre.

but these are written, that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name.
