1 V inieron todos los oficiales de la gente de guerra, y Johanán, hijo de Carea, Jezanías, hijo de Osaías, y todo el pueblo desde el menor hasta el mayor,

Then all the captains of the forces, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and Jezaniah the son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from the least even to the greatest, came near,

2 y dijeron al profeta Jeremías: Acepta ahora nuestro ruego delante de ti, y ruega por nosotros a Jehová tu Dios por todo este resto (pues de muchos hemos quedado unos pocos, como puedes ver),

and said to Jeremiah the prophet, Please let our supplication be presented before you, and pray for us to Yahweh your God, even for all this remnant; for we are left but a few of many, as your eyes do see us:

3 p ara que Jehová tu Dios nos enseñe el camino por donde vayamos, y lo que hemos de hacer.

that Yahweh your God may show us the way in which we should walk, and the thing that we should do.

4 Y el profeta Jeremías les dijo: He oído. He aquí que voy a orar a Jehová vuestro Dios, como habéis dicho, y todo lo que Jehová os responda, os lo declararé, sin ocultaros nada.

Then Jeremiah the prophet said to them, I have heard you; behold, I will pray to Yahweh your God according to your words; and it shall happen that whatever thing Yahweh shall answer you, I will declare it to you; I will keep nothing back from you.

5 Y ellos dijeron a Jeremías: Jehová sea entre nosotros testigo veraz y fiel, si no hacemos conforme a todo el mensaje que Jehová tu Dios te dé para nosotros.

Then they said to Jeremiah, Yahweh be a true and faithful witness among us, if we don’t do according to all the word with which Yahweh your God shall send you to us.

6 S ea grato o sea ingrato, obedeceremos a la voz de Jehová nuestro Dios al cual te enviamos, para que obedeciendo a la voz de Jehová nuestro Dios, nos vaya bien.

Whether it is good, or whether it is bad, we will obey the voice of Yahweh our God, to whom we send you; that it may be well with us, when we obey the voice of Yahweh our God.

7 A conteció que al cabo de diez días vino palabra de Jehová a Jeremías.

After ten days, Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah.

8 Y llamó a Johanán, hijo de Carea, y a todos los oficiales de la gente de guerra que con él estaban, y a todo el pueblo desde el menor hasta el mayor;

Then called he Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces who were with him, and all the people from the least even to the greatest,

9 y les dijo: Así ha dicho Jehová Dios de Israel, al cual me enviasteis para presentar vuestros ruegos en su presencia:

and said to them, Yahweh, the God of Israel, to whom you sent me to present your supplication before him, says:

10 S i os quedáis quietos en esta tierra, os edificaré, y no os destruiré; os plantaré, y no os arrancaré; porque estoy arrepentido del mal que os he hecho.

If you will still live in this land, then I will build you, and not pull you down, and I will plant you, and not pluck you up; for I grieve over the distress that I have brought on you.

11 N o temáis al rey de Babilonia, del cual tenéis temor; no le temáis, ha dicho Jehová, porque con vosotros estoy yo para salvaros y libraros de su mano;

Don’t be afraid of the king of Babylon, of whom you are afraid; don’t be afraid of him, says Yahweh: for I am with you to save you, and to deliver you from his hand.

12 y tendré compasión de vosotros, para que él tenga compasión de vosotros y os haga regresar a vuestra tierra.

I will grant you mercy, that he may have mercy on you, and cause you to return to your own land.

13 M as si decís: No moraremos en esta tierra, no obedeciendo así a la voz de Jehová vuestro Dios,

But if you say, We will not dwell in this land; so that you don’t obey Yahweh your God’s voice,

14 d iciendo: No, sino que entraremos en la tierra de Egipto, en la cual no veremos guerra, ni oiremos sonido de trompeta, ni padeceremos hambre de pan, y allí moraremos;

saying, No; but we will go into the land of Egypt, where we shall see no war, nor hear the sound of the trumpet, nor have hunger of bread; and there will we dwell:

15 p ues bien, en este caso oíd palabra de Jehová, remanente de Judá: Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: Si vosotros estáis completamente resueltos a marcharos a Egipto para morar allí,

now therefore hear Yahweh’s word, O remnant of Judah: Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says, If you indeed set your faces to enter into Egypt, and go to live there;

16 s ucederá que la espada que teméis, os alcanzará allí en la tierra de Egipto, y el hambre de que tenéis temor, allá en Egipto os perseguirá; y allí moriréis.

then it shall happen, that the sword, which you fear, shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt; and the famine, about which you are afraid, shall follow close behind you there in Egypt; and there you shall die.

17 A sí sucederá a cuantos resuelvan irse a Egipto para morar allí; morirán a espada, de hambre y de pestilencia; no habrá de ellos quien quede vivo, ni quien escape delante del mal que traeré yo sobre ellos.

So shall it be with all the men who set their faces to go into Egypt to live there: they shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence; and none of them shall remain or escape from the evil that I will bring on them.

18 P orque así dice Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: Como se derramó mi enojo y mi ira sobre los moradores de Jerusalén, así se derramará mi ira sobre vosotros cuando entréis en Egipto; y seréis objeto de execración y de espanto, y de maldición y de afrenta; y no veréis más este lugar.

For Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: As my anger and my wrath has been poured out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so shall my wrath be poured out on you, when you shall enter into Egypt; and you shall be an object of horror, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach; and you shall see this place no more.

19 J ehová ha hablado acerca de vosotros, oh remanente de Judá: No vayáis a Egipto; sabed ciertamente que os lo aviso hoy;

Yahweh has spoken concerning you, remnant of Judah, Don’t you go into Egypt: know certainly that I have testified to you today.

20 p orque estáis obrando engañosamente contra vuestras almas; pues vosotros me enviasteis a Jehová vuestro Dios, diciendo: Ora por nosotros a Jehová nuestro Dios, y haznos saber todas las cosas que Jehová nuestro Dios diga, y lo haremos.

For you have dealt deceitfully against your own souls; for you sent me to Yahweh your God, saying, Pray for us to Yahweh our God; and according to all that Yahweh our God shall say, so declare to us, and we will do it:

21 Y os lo he declarado hoy, pero no habéis obedecido a la voz de Jehová vuestro Dios en ninguna de las cosas por las cuales me envió a vosotros.

and I have declared it to you today; but you have not obeyed Yahweh your God’s voice in anything for which he has sent me to you.

22 A hora, pues, sabed de cierto que moriréis a espada, de hambre y de pestilencia en el lugar donde deseáis entrar para morar allí.

Now therefore know certainly that you shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, in the place where you desire to go to live there.
