1 P orque todo sumo sacerdote tomado de entre los hombres es constituido a favor de los hombres en lo que a Dios se refiere, para que presente ofrendas y sacrificios por los pecados;

For every high priest, being taken from among men, is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins.

2 p udiendo sentir compasión a nivel de los ignorantes y extraviados, puesto que él también está rodeado de debilidad;

The high priest can deal gently with those who are ignorant and going astray, because he himself is also surrounded with weakness.

3 y por causa de ella debe ofrecer por los pecados, tanto por sí mismo como también por el pueblo.

Because of this, he must offer sacrifices for sins for the people, as well as for himself.

4 Y nadie toma para sí mismo este honor, sino el que es llamado por Dios, como lo fue Aarón.

Nobody takes this honor on himself, but he is called by God, just like Aaron was.

5 A sí tampoco Cristo se glorificó a sí mismo haciéndose sumo sacerdote, sino el que le habló así: Tú eres mi Hijo, Yo te he engendrado hoy.

So also Christ didn’t glorify himself to be made a high priest, but it was he who said to him, “You are my Son. Today I have become your father.”

6 C omo también dice en otro lugar: Tú eres sacerdote para siempre, Según el orden de Melquisedec.

As he says also in another place, “You are a priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek.”

7 Y Cristo, en los días de su carne, habiendo ofrecido ruegos y súplicas con gran clamor y lágrimas al que le podía librar de la muerte, fue oído a causa de su piedad.

He, in the days of his flesh, having offered up prayers and petitions with strong crying and tears to him who was able to save him from death, and having been heard for his godly fear,

8 Y aunque era Hijo, aprendió la obediencia por lo que padeció;

though he was a Son, yet learned obedience by the things which he suffered.

9 y habiendo sido perfeccionado, vino a ser fuente de eterna salvación para todos los que le obedecen;

Having been made perfect, he became to all of those who obey him the author of eternal salvation,

10 y fue proclamado públicamente por Dios como sumo sacerdote según el orden de Melquisedec. Advertencia contra la apostasía

named by God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek.

11 A cerca de lo cual tenemos mucho que decir, y difícil de explicar, puesto que os habéis hecho tardos para oír.

About him we have many words to say, and hard to interpret, seeing you have become dull of hearing.

12 P orque debiendo ser ya maestros, después de tanto tiempo, otra vez tenéis necesidad de que se os enseñe cuáles son los primeros rudimentos de las palabras de Dios; y habéis llegado a tener necesidad de leche, y no de alimento sólido.

For although by this time you should be teachers, you again need to have someone teach you the rudiments of the first principles of the revelations of God. You have come to need milk, and not solid food.

13 P ues todo aquel que participa de la leche es inexperto en la palabra de justicia, porque es un niño;

For everyone who lives on milk is not experienced in the word of righteousness, for he is a baby.

14 p ero el alimento sólido es para los que han alcanzado la madurez, para los que, por razón de la costumbre, tienen los sentidos ejercitados en el discernimiento del bien y del mal.

But solid food is for those who are full grown, who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern good and evil.
